For those of you who have travelled by car to the US after getting your visa, did you have any problems with having boxes of belongings in the trunk/back seat? I'm a little worried about bringing as much of my stuff as possible across the border and having issues with customs. helpsmilie.gif When the time comes, we'll be using the Windsor/Detroit border. Has anyone else used the same? Even if you haven't used that one in particular, how did it go?

it shouldn't be a problem... just bring along a detalied list of all the belongings you are bringing with you

it's no problem at all. i crossed at Sarnia/Port Huron (i highly recommend it - very nice officers when i went thru and it only took 25 mins or so). I wasn't asked about what I had but had a list prepared. (it was a small list) I wasn't even asked to show vaccination information on the hounds. all i was asked about them is what were their names and where i got their seatbelts from.

good luck.

Nice to know! Thats the POE where Im planning to go through. Im from Montreal, going to Illinois and we plan to make out way through Ontario and then Michigan. Anyways, I need to take an appointment with them at least 48 hours prior to leaving because I will have my pet with me that needs to be checked (Ball python) by a vet/environment officer. Im currently gathering her papers because I need an exportation paper delivered by the CITES for her and there is very few POE where I can go to have such an appointment. Port Huron is one of them, so IM glad the K-1 thing is at least well handled there smile.gif

We crossed at Port Huron-Sarnia as well with 5 cats, a bunch of houseplants and a van full of boxes. They were very good at processing the K-1, didn't show any interest in the cats or their veterinary records, nor the plants and their phytosanitary certificates. They probably will show interest in teh CITES certificate, however, so it is good to be prepared. I believe youwill need to crosss the border on a week day as the vet isn't available always on weekends. I used to help expedite the crossing of several horses that required possible vet checks as well at Windsor-Detroit and I know that they always had to travel on weekdays. Good luck with your move - I hope it is carefree and painfree.
