Thanks Rose, it would be really nice to meet up with any VJ'rs so hopefully someone will get the same date as us.

Getting nervous and excited at the same time now even though it is still just under a month a way, just praying we do not have to file the waiver wink.gif

Advice for going to the US Embassy:

1.) Take a taxi; they all know where the embassy is and it's easier than fumbling around with a tube map.

2.) Get there early, and I mean EARLY. Appointment times don't actually mean anything; you'll queue to get in, then once you get in you're assigned a number and you could wait for a LONG time for them to call you. They won't take any notice of when you're supposed to be seen.

3.) They will take cosmetics and any liquids off of you, so don't bring any. They'll let you keep cigarette lighters.

4.) Bring money for the snack stand in the waiting area (vastly overpriced, prices in pounds), and a good book to read; you'll be on your keester for a while.

5.) Bring your appointment letter; they will ask to see it.

Good luck.

Thanks for that, we are staying overnight at a hotel in Connaught Square so only a short walk to the embassy and we will make sure we have a good breakfast before we go.

As our car will be in the multi story carpark nearby all things that I would normally carry in my bag will be in there and I think the only thing I will be carrying will be our precious paperwork good.gif

I just want it to be over with now, it's been a long 13 months wink.gif and yet I am looking forward to it even though I will be basically a nervous wreck, good job hubby is with me to calm me. I hope that we can come out of the embassy and get straight on the phone to my daughter and give her some good news, good.gif

Hi all, we are new to the VJ, and we will fill out our timeline soon

I have a couple of recomendations for you. When Annie went for her interview at the embassy in London I told her to make friends with the guards, at least have a civilized conversation if you can. as a result, they were very kind to her. She got there very early, was having a conversation with them, people would walk up and ask questions rudely, only to be sent away. They told her that his is common and as a result of her being nice, she was first in the queue(you will have to get used to saying line instead of Queue). While she was in the chairs at the Embassy one of the guys yelled at her to have a great day and good luck. Everyone else there looked at her cause they could not understand why he was being nice. We still have contact with one of them to this day.

Val, you are going to do just great!

I don't know how much it would be from there (it is near Kings Cross) but our taxi from close to Paddington Station cost 12-13 pounds.

Well, had the medical on Friday and it all went without a hitch so that part is over and Linababe we got a taxi from Victoria to Marlyebone High street and it cost us £8.00, and I pray that you do not get the one we did wink.gif We must have got the only Taxi driver in London who did not know where it was we wanted to go wink.gif

Wouldn't have been so bad if we had not been running a bit late as the train we got to Victoria was a slow one and we only got out of the station with 25 mins to spare before the medical. You might have thought that would give us plenty of time whistling.gif to get there, you try giving a taxi driver directions from the map he gave us laughing.gif .

Anyway all is well that ends well and now it is the interview to look forward to and for that we have a hotel boooked just across the road from Hyde Park so we will walk to the embassy and thanks to John and Annie for that piece of advice. I am generally a chatty person, so no doubt would know the guard's life story by the time we got in laughing.gif

Must admit to getting pretty nervous now and just wishing it was all over yes.gif
MrsWhizz
I'm really glad your medical went well! You will do great at that interview.

Hello Munchkins,

Just wanted to stick my nose in here and say congrats for getting your medical done. Sounds like it went fine except for the taxi driver. tongue.gif

Best wishes,
Baileyj
