I called my doctors office and was told by the receptionist to grab a pen as she was going to read out my vaccination record over the phone!
I then asked if it was ok if i came in to get a print out which she said was fine.
In thinking after, is just a simple print out ok, or do i need a doctors signature or something?
Lou Lou
I'd get them to print it on the clinic's letterhead if you can, and if at all possible a doctor's signature, or at least a clinic stamp.

When I used titres instead of jabs, my clinical results were on headed paper but with no signature.
Jo1973
I got a simple printout (screen dump lol), they seemed ok with it.

Get it on headed paper.

God knows what happened to my vaccinations....I tried to get a print out and was told there was no record of any wacko.gif
Lou Lou
Same happened to me and 1000s of others. I was told no childhood records were kept by the surgeries after a certain age. Pretty darned stupid if you ask me, but there you go. Your only option would be to get the jabs or go for titres. Maybe you could persuade them to do free titres seeing as they didn't keep hold of the records properly. Well, worth a try, eh? wink.gif

I got a print out which was stamped and signed by the Dr. They didn't charge me for it, although technically I think they are meant to smile.gif.

Remember to keep a copy of this as you may need it for AOS when you get to the USA.

Good luck.

Exactly the same thing happened to me. I had to have them all again - the painful Tetanus knot is still there almost three weeks later!

I think this is because in the UK, schools and other institutions don't seem to care if your vaccinations are up-to-date. In the US, you can't even enroll your child in school in most states unless you have proof that they have had every single required vaccination. (I think the only people who can get around this are Christian Scientists.) You'd have trouble at some universities without vaccination records, and good luck going to summer camp unless you can prove you're up to date with your diptets. Meticulous records were kept of my childhood vaccinations and even today I have no trouble getting hold of them. good.gif

I would hope that the UK has changed its slapdash approach to vaccination records...if anything else to avoid the expense of having to re-vaccinate already-immune children and adults because someone forgot to write down what shots little Ian and little Emma have already had.

It's not a case of forgetting to write down what shots each child has. In fact, if they did forget they'd be in a huge amount of trouble. They actually document it very well. Each child also is given a record to take home with them. The problem is that people of a certain generation had their records computerised at some point and such records were not deemed essential information anymore. It makes sense as once you've had your childhood shots, when you get to adulthood, they are rarely needed to be documented apart from cases like ours.

The only shot I needed was the tetanus as it runs out after ten years. All the others I was highly immune to, and if I had gone ahead with another shot it would have made me quite ill.

Heh. The US paid for my re-vaccinations, I'm not complaining whistling.gif

QFT - nobody (apart from Homesick, who doesn't seem to miss an opportunity to point out the failings of the UK wink.gif) said the UK's approach was 'slapdash', just the fact that those of us with 'pre-computerised' childhoods do not have easy access to our records. I also no longer live in the UK which made it particularly difficult to obtain my records from my GP.

I had no trouble with my 10 yr olds vaccination record...but I know all my shots are up to date, of course our government cares if its citizens are keeping up with their vaccinations!

I was just at the doctors today to see about my vaccinations... they told me it will take a while they have to search through my very messy looking file for all my vaccination history! btw.. do we have to get the HepB vaccination.?? My nurse said it is very costly and it supossed to be done over a period of 6 months??
Which vaccinations DO we HAVE to have??

Thanks
