I am relatively new to VJ and greatly appreciate how it has helped me navigate the USCIS process. I appreciate everyone who answered my posts and I hope that I able to assist someone in my replies. I am "cleaning my house" in preparation for Ramadan and have decided to let this forum go. I think that this website is essential and offers vital information to newbie’s such as myself but I find not comfort in the call to fight as if we are being called to jihad. I hope that those who are here to gain information find it and get the USCIS outcome they are seeking.

Please take this life seriously. I was born Muslim and fall short everyday in my deen but I do not make it a point to go out of my way for a confrontation. Ramadan is fast approaching and everyone should heed this time to look inward at their own faults as I will be doing and try to correct them as I will doing, insha Allah.

Wa alaikum salaam.
You're absolutely correct and I do believe I'll be following suit.
To all my sisters here, please make du'a for me and I'll be doing the same for you inshallah.
Take care and I hope everyone has a happy Ramadaan!

Jerseygal, have a wonderful ramadan.

Forgive my ignorance, but is Ramadan similar to Catholic Lent where you give something up for a short period of time in an offering to God?

Or is this like a 'i'm sick of this place and not coming back' type thing?

Either way, best of luck in your VJ, Jersey smile.gif

It is a one month fast--sun up to sun down. It is also one of the pillars of Islam. Starts on or about Sept 24th this year if I am not mistaken.

Officially starts 9/23 in the States (by ISNA).

Have a blessed Ramadan. Please let us know about your interview on wednesday. Alot of us going thru Casa could really use the insight. I pray for your success and peace of mind.
