Does anybody know how difficult it is to get a passport in Mexico.
Do they give them to everyone, or do you have to meet some
qualifications?

thanks

Getting a passport is easy, getting a visa is another story.

My husband has gotten 2 Mexican passports fairly easily. The 1st one was for 1 or 2 years, but his tourist visa application was denied. He said the passport was no good afterwards.

He recently got another one for 10 years. He just needed his birth certificate. Check out this website http://www.gob.mx/wb2/egobierno/egob_Pasaporte_y_visa

You can get Mexican passports that are valid for 1 year, 2 years?, 5 years? and 10 years. It's cheaper to get it for a shorter time but in the long run it's better to get a 10 year passport if you plan on travelling.

Waitingincolo:

In fact, is not difficult to get a mexican passport only if you are a mexican citizen, but it depends on how complete the records are: Birth certificate and Mexican ID (voter registration).

If you have your MEXICAN ID and birth certificate your can get the passport, but have to visit this site to complete the requrements. http://www.sre.gob.mx/pasaportes/requisitosprimeravez.htm

Good luck,
