I dont know We paid extra money to avoid any medical things since i was pregnant and didnt want the xray and my husband is scared of needles and didnt want his blood taken. but i know xrays and blood test is done.

Yes bribes are very normal process ..

It's just business as normal... but maybe a call to one of the medical centers the Consulate gives you to express your concern.. and ask if you can pay extra not to have these done..

Also...I was scared of needles als..other then I get blood taken every 6 months.. but I needed like 6-7 shots before going to Moldova... Let me tell you...Shots in the arm are so easy!!!! 10 times easier the having blood taken...I hardly felt anything..
Now in your butt... don't flinch or tighten up...or your going to be limping because it's like getting a bruise... in both areas..Just relax...and look the other way...

Well bc if you want info on visa and processing and anything related to the visa process, most the ppl already gone thru it speaks english. If you ask a question in romanian, and a romanian does not know the answer, i cant answer or help you if its not in english.

I have a question about the Police Certificate. Does your spouse get it from the police in the city they reside in or do you have to mail off a form for it somewhere?

I have an addition to Eresh's question...does anyone know how long it takes to get a Police Certificate? We just got our K-1 petition approved two weeks ago, and I want to make sure we have everything ready for my fiance's interview.

You get it from the city you reside in or you can go back to your birth city to retrive it, ed got his the day he went for it. He is from Caransebes, but he had to go to Resita to get it, and he was living in Sinesti. so he was so confused but went for it in the morning and that afternoon had it in his hand

Oh that's great! Thanks for your help! Luckily Florin is from Bucuresti and hasn't lived anywhere else, so it should be easy for him to get.

Anghel {from Constanta}went and got his police certificate today because Bucharest got changed to Appointment post processing so we have to send in the paperwork beforehand now {marriage certificate, police cert., birth cert. w/ translations} so we are getting all this together to be sent off.

Hello fellow Romanian couples. Let's make this thread active again. I am currently waiting on a K-1 visa for my Romanian fiance. We just got approved on 10/31/07 and are waiting for it to go the NVC. I know there are at least a few of other couples going through the process right now and maybe our fiances will be able to share experiences. To all the couples who have already made it through their journey congratulations and your wisdom on the process is appreciated.

Yeah, that would be great to make this active again! Our K-1 petition is on the way to Bucharest...hopefully it will arrive sometime this next week! Florin is going to get his police certificate tomorrow as well as his passport photos, so I think we have just about everything done! He needs to schedule his medical exam, but I think he will wait until he picks up Packet 3. If anyone has any hints/tips/advice for the interview, I would love to hear them!

Maybe even before Christmas I'm going to call the embassy tomorrow to see if they have our petition - I think my fiance is getting nervous now But we have all of our paperwork ready, so he should be just fine. Hello everyone! I'm happy to see you've joined in this thread. I called the CSC to see if my petition had been mailed to the NVC yet. I was just approved on 10/31, but I was hoping that maybe it went out since I saw a touch on my account on 11/4. The lady says it hasn't gone out yet and that it can take a month for them to send it out. But I'm kind of getting mixed messages because the time before that when I called I was told it takes 1-2 weeks and that they are getting caught up on their backlog. So who knows. Good luck to all who are still waiting on their approvals. Maybe if we keep our fingers crossed the CSC/NVC will speed up and we can be with our loved ones by New Years.

Laurel, hi, we wish you two the best of luck - I can imagine he is nervous, but he will be fine. So do I get that you have completed all packages? Are these packages sent one at a time? Yes, we have everything for the interview except for Florin's medical exam, which he will schedule as soon as he gets Packet 3. VisaJourney has a list of things you need for the interview, but I also emailed the embassy directly. Their address is visasbucharest@state.gov and they were very helpful. They sent me the checklist of documents so we were able to prepare. I'm attaching the checklist for you to see. Once the petition arrives at the embassy they will send you Packet 3 which contains the checklist as well as some other forms you will have to fill out. Once you have everything on the checklist, you sign it and return it to the embassy. Then they will schedule your interview. One thing to note...get your police report early because it can take a few days. My fiance lives in Bucuresti and had to make an appointment to get his. He went this last Monday to get it, but had to make an appointment and will return on Thursday. It used to only take one day, but they changed it now.
I found out today that the embassy received the electronic version of our case, so that means our paperwork should be there soon! I will keep you posted!

My fiance' called the Embassy today---they mailed out Packet 3 last Friday Nov 2, but he hasn't gotten it yet. We are so hoping he will get it tomorrow. I am dying to find out his interview date so I can have something new to obsess about!

Yes--we tried to catch the papers but the embassy had already mailed them out when we called!!!! The NVC sent them on a Monday and by Friday they were already in and out of the embassy. If we'd only known........we'd have saved a few days. But, hopefully he will get them tomorrow. Otherwise, he plans to go to Bucharest and pick up a duplicate package. The lady said he needed to give it one week for the mail to arrive before he came in to get a duplicate package. After almost 8 months, what's one week, I guess!!! But I have to say that things are going SO much more quickly and yes, have to agree with Laurel that the embassy has been SO helpful and polite when we contacted them.

I'll have to ask him where he went and I will let you know. He has lived in sector 6 since he was a little boy so he may have went to that district office. But, I will find out
I've been working on learning Romanian, but it takes a lot of time. Hopefully Florin will help me when he is here. I know a lot of words and can understand a lot, but it really takes practice! Especially the grammar! It's a beautiful language though and I'm definitely going to keep working at it


Laura, yes, you for sure can pick it up from the embassy. I emailed them and they said to call and make an appointment to pick it up. The problem, like pedsgirl mentioned, is that you have to catch them before they send it, and sometimes they are very quick! But, I'm going to call them tomorrow morning and see if ours is there. I might email them again too, just to make sure. I will let you all know what information I find.
I'm not too stressed just yet...I know we have everything ready and I'm sure Florin will do just fine. I'm just so excited to be near the finish line. I can't wait to see him

I called the embassy and they have our petition! WooHoo! They hadn't mailed Packet 3 to Florin yet, so he will be able to pick it up today at 1pm. I hope they will schedule his interview today. I'm so excited I don't think I will be able to sleep tonight!

Congrats Laurel!! We are almost there! I have to say I am SO impressed and pleased with how fast things have progressed since our papers escaped American shores Daniel received his packet 3 this AM and is enroute to Bucharest now to deliver them back. The very helpful lady at the embassy went ahead and offered to schedule his interview since he was coming today with all the required papers. His medical is on Monday (Nov 12) and his interview is this TUESDAY (Nov 13) at 1 pm. I have not slept a wink since he called to tell me!!!

I never imagined it would go this fast! I was just hoping for something by the end of November! Thank you God!!!

Hey guys, Florin picked up Packet 3 and filled in the paperwork, but they wouldn't schedule his interview until he had his medical exam. He is going tomorrow morning for that, so hopefully we will know the interview date tomorrow! I'm hoping he will have his next week as well I'm so excited! I can't believe how fast things are going now. Lots and lots of luck to pedsgirl and her fiance! Keep us posted on the interview! I know he will do just fine. Will he come for Thanksgiving? I told Florin if it was possible, I really wanted him here by then. I told him to stop working on Monday so he could get ready to come here!

Yes that's true...we might not find out anything until Monday now . Florin has to get a document from his family doctor first stating he is in good health. He also needs his vaccination records. If he doesn't have the right ones he might need to get them. I don't think it's too big of a deal, but we will see. He has to have these two things before he goes for the medical exam. He found out his family doctor is not working until the afternoon tomorrow, so I don't know if he will have to reschedule his medical exam tomorrow moring. UGH! Either way I'm sure it can all be figured out by Monday, but I was so hoping to have good news for the weekend. Oh well, the end is in sight!

My fiance lived in bucharest (unofficially no registered address) for a while and lives in alexandria now. Can she just get a certificate from alexandria or does she need from both? She is pretty sure she wont be able to get one in bucharest since she never registered an address there....

Also how long are police certificates valid for...and can she get the medical done now or should she wait?

if she didn't register in bucharest there she can't get anyhting there...you should call the embassy or email them to see if she can get her appointment early. good luck !!!
