well, on nov 6 our cases status online has changed(case resumed), that is 10 days after we sent the package. our last touch was on nov 7th and still no approval. we're waiting impatiently and can't wait to be on the role like u guys are...hope NVC receives your package soon CherryBlossoms!

The only problem with this is we put that address on the application because we didnt want to lie.... Our application still hasnt reached NVC so I don't think we can call to set up interview just yet. How long are police certificates good for are we safe to get it now?

i wouldn't worry about it...but then again you never know. police certificates are good for 6 moths and as far as i know it is issued in 15 working days, or less, depending on the city she is in. don't strees too much about it and try to take everything as it comes because otherwise you'll have grey hairs coming out

oh yea and packet 3, you can download the forms off of the embassy website as well and have them read and filled out, instead of waiting for it from the embassy, i know its a forever wait for the packet 3 from the embassy in bucharest.

Looks like we won't know the interview date until Monday. I was hoping to know by today, but it didn't work out. Florin had to get a document from his family doctor before having his medical exam. So, he went today to get that document and then will go Monday morning to have his exam. He might have to get some immunizations, but they should be able to help him with that at the exam. After that he will take the papers straight to the embassy, turn in the checklist and then they will schedule his interview. I'll keep you guys posted! Here's my update. I called the USCIS again today. The lady kinda scolded me for calling again. Everytime I call they say some version of you were just approved on October 31, why are you calling again? Oh well. The lady said that she's been getting lots of phone calls on the I-129Fs today and I told her that it was probably because we are all hoping to be with our fiances by Christmas. I made her check anyways and she said our case was mailed to the NVC this morning. Then she told me not to call the NVC for a couple weeks. I will wait 1 or maybe 1.5 weeks before I call. I guess they're just not very sympathetic to the fact that by the time we get our NOA2 we have already been waiting a very long time. Anyways, it was only 1.5 weeks before they mailed out my notice to the NVC so that's not too bad. They way things are going maybe I still have a chance at being with my love by Christmas!

Congrats, that's wonderful!! I doubt it will take you a week to get to the NVC, mine only took two days! I would call on Thursday or Friday they don't get mad at you at the NVC for calling Keep us posted! You just might be together for Christmas!

good news once its at the NVC it doesnt take long to get to Bucharest. I believe mine and Edis was mailed out 2-4 days after arriving to NVC to Bucharest.

Just writing to ask ya'll to keep us in your prayers tomorrow for my fiance's interview in Bucharest!! I am so nervous and excited and scared. I'm having SUCH the hard time trying to focus at work today

The medical went fine today and my fiance even got to meet MusicGirl's fiance while they were both there for their medicals!

His interview is at 1 pm his time/6 AM my time; so at least I won't be in agony all day tomorrow. I am going to stay home from work tomorrow until I hear some GOOD NEWS!!!!

Only 104 days have passed from NOA1 so we still have about at least a month to wait . Anyway, nice to see that we`re not the only ones going through this. Daniel had his interview this morning and we got a YES!!! I am still in shock! He said that it was a tough interview. He had to answer a lot of personal questions, such as listing all my siblings names & ages (there are 7!!), telling the lady what we talk about on the phone, how we met, even why we were introduced by my friend, just lots of questions. He had a lot of explaining to do about his time in and out of Spain over the past 2 years, and why he didn't have a police certificate for that. But, in the end, he got his visa, and now we're trying to plan his flight here! I am SO thrilled and most of all, THANKING GOD.

It took us 193 days, but WE HAVE IT!!!!

Next step: Thanksgiving together, and Christmas, and then: Marriage January 12, 2008

yeah, that would be great! what was the consul's attitude? were they nice? what's the biggest stress factor? congratulations again!

He said that they were not unkind; they just had many questions for him. You can read our embassy review under the "Embassy Info" tab; for Romania. I tried to list all the questions he could remember there.

Maybe tricky isn't the right word; but he just wasn't expecting the abstract kind of questions he got--he was expecting more factual based ones (like regarding finances, police certs., etc). Instead, he was asked questions like:
What do you like about her?
What do you talk about on the phone?
What will your wedding be like? How many guests? Where will you go on honeymoon?
Why were you introduced to begin with?
What are her siblings names and ages?
How often do you talk with her parents?
How do they feel about you?
How do your parents feel about her?
etc etc

I think the main thing is for them to see that there is a valid relationship there; and that there is supporting evidence. He did get some technical questions too, like why he didn't have a police cert. from Spain (he was there on and off for some time) that he had to explain in detail; but it went well and he wasn't too stressed.

They received my case and said they will forward it to the embassy within 1-2 weeks and gave me my new case number. So that was my good news for the weekend. I have a question if anyone knows the answer. Do I need to send the original or certified copies of my birth certificate to my fiance? Will they ask for them at the interview? Can you print out copies of the tax returns that you filed or do you have to have the ones that are ordered from the IRS?

About the forms - I emailed the embassy about some of these same questions, and this is their official response. I hope it helps!

The packet of information will be sent to your fiance's address once we receive the approved petition.

Please find attached the list of documents needed at the interview.

We don't need to see your birth certificate but in case you have been married before we must see the original or certified copy of the divorce decree. Your fiance must also bring evidence of your ongoing relationship.

Hi everyone! Just wanted to let you know Florin received his visa today! He said the interview was very quick and the questions were simple. I will let you know all the questions he was asked. He said the worst part was all the waiting. He waited about three hours. He also said the interview was not private, that he had to speak with someone at a window, but that other people were in the room. But all in all, it was not that bad. He was given the actual visa today so he doesn't have to go back tomorrow to pick it up. He was very happy he didn't have to go back again! So he will be here on Wednesday! I can hardly believe it!

Hi Laura, I'm so sorry you are going through this. It's bad enough to have to wait so long and then to add more time for an RFE. I do know of one couple who had to wait about 6 weeks. Hopefully yours won't take that long. Has your fiance called USCIS to try and get any information? As long as you provided them with what they requested, I doubt you will have any problem getting your approval. I hope you hear some good news soon! Keep us posted,

Our NVC was confirmed to be there as of 11-19-07, and is being forwarded to Bucharest, we are wondering how much longer we should have to interview if all goes smoothly. The reason we ask is we want to buy plane tickets now to try to save some $$.

Also will it look bad if we buy a round trip ticket? She wants to go back next novemberish to visit her mom for birthday. Of course that is pending whethere or not she will be able to with AoS etc.

Hi JesNSteph! As you can see by my timeline, she should get her interview pretty quickly. I was shocked how fast we got ours! Don't worry about the round-trip ticket thing. My fiance bought a round-trip ticket and is due to land here in about an hour! It was cheaper to buy round-trip than one-way. I doubt anyone will think twice about that. We found a good price on Expedia. I'm in Seattle, so it's a very long trip - 13 hours. I also heard that Delta has a direct flight from Bucharest to New York, so you might check that out too.

The interview comes around pretty quick. My husband was at his interview within a couple weeks after NVC sent the papers to bucharest. I wouldnt say go ahead and buy your tickets until your fiance has visa in hand. buying in advance is always something we want to do, but remember, no matter what USCIS says, the embassy has the last say in the visa. good luck.

The embassy signed for our Packet 3 on 11/29, but when we called today they told us they don't have it in their department yet and to call back on Monday Oh well, 1 more weekend isn't going to kill us. Hopefully we can set it up Monday. Maybe we'll get lucky and there will still be some time slots open on Dec 6 and you our SO's can meet.
Lari_l The process goes surprisingly faster from here on. The service center will forward it the the NVC (which is the slowest part), then the NVC has it for a couple days and assigns a case number and mails it to the Embassy. Then the Embassy send you a packet, which you sign and return to them. Then you can set up your appointment. It has been about a month since we were approved and we are close to getting an interview date.
