Hey folks just wanted to share that my wife got her visa yesterday and will be joining me soon in a couple of weeks.
Couple of things that might help others out there:
I had applied for my mom last year too and though her case went through they had given her an interview date of November 27. Upon asking the embassy they actually moved it back to the same day as my wife's interview allowing my mom to get her visa months in advance as well. So if the embassy gives you a far off interview date, there is no harm in asking them as long as you have a valid reason to make such a request.
My wife and mom had their interviews on the same date, they only interviewed my mom for a few minutes (IR1/CR1) but interviewed my wife for several hours (K3) in four different interviews. Afterwards they have her a blue letter quoting section 221g and additional comments saying "Your case requires additional administrative processing. We will contact you to come back in when this processing is complete". My wife was very disheartened and her and my mom were going back to our home town about a 1000 miles away over the weekend but I asked them to stay so I could call and ask the embassy their reasons. When I called them on Monday morning they said "Oh we just sent you a letter today and we want you to come back in with your passport". I asked when she needed to go back and they said oh any time is fine and also that she didn't need the letter that they mailed her that rather the one they gave her on Friday was enough. She went back the next day and after another short interview and waiting for several hours they said ok you got your visa!
Yay I am so happy!!!!
Thanks to all of you for sharing your experiences which allowed for this to go through in just over 4 months from start to finish!
Thanks again all of you!!!!
