Full Version: What is the process after the interview?

I am applying immigration visa for my parents. The interview date is set for Sept 14 in Montreal.
I would like to know what is the process after the interview?
What would they get after the interview if it is approved?
A stamp (immigration visa) on the passport?

Is that true that the immigration visa is only valid for 6 months?

What would they expect when they land US using the immigration visa? How long is the landing process?
What to do and don't?

And after they entered US, how long would they expect to receive welcome notice and Green card?
What is welcome notice?

Can they travel after they entered US but have not received their green card? (I believe
with the stamp (I551?) on their passport, they should be able to travel outside of US, correct?)

Thank for answering my questions. Sorry about that I don't know the terms etc. I am new to
this process.

Oooh, I have JUST the thread for you! smile.gif

Arriving in America

AFter the interview, it takes a day or so to get the passports back; they will have the visa stuck inside on an entire page. The immigrants will also each get a big brown envelope that has their entire case in it. It is sealed and must not be opened; they hand it in when they travel (immigration may take place in side a Canadian airport---otherwise, at the border if driving).

The visa must be used its first time within 6 months from issue. All the rest should be in that thread; happy reading!
