I tried to do searches for this but couldnt seem to find anything useful - anyone have any ideas of any places to stay the night before my interview? somewhere near to the embassy and I dont have any idea where the embassy is lol - if anyone has any ideas of the nearest tube stations too will help me alot. Am I right in thinking the embassy is near Harrods??

Don't know about places to stay, but the closest tube station is Bond Street, on the Central and Jubilee line. Is your interview early in the day? If not I wouldn't recommend staying nearby, its really expensive in that area and getting around London on the tube is simple.

Green Park and Hyde Park Corner are also a short walk to the embassy -- you may want to stay at one of the Travel Lodges which are cheap and cheerful -- about 70 squids. There's one in King's Cross, Liverpool Street, Marylebone and Covent Garden

Marble Arch tube station is also pretty close as well BTW. Probably about the same as Bond Street.

We stayed at the Marble Arch Inn....no frills, but it was clean...of course that was alittle over 2 years ago, everything in London is very expensive...this was the cheapest we found at the time, the walk to the embassy took about 15 to 20 minutes...it wasnt too bad... Good Luck!!!

Stay at 'The Marble Arch Inn' - it costs about £40 a night - is basic but totally clean and friendly - ive stayed there several times - you cant beat it for price and location. Its just off Oxford Street - by Marble Arch.
Book at least 3 days in advance to get the cheap rate - you can do it all on-line.

The embassy is a short walk from Marble Arch tube - about 20 mins stroll.
You can walk to the embassy from the hotel in about 30 mins - very easy.
They send u a map of the embassy with packet 4.

Its pretty easy to get to the embassy from either Bond St or Marble Arch tube stations, just walk either west (Bond Street) or East (Marble Arch) on Oxford St, then walk south of "North Audley Street" until you get to the building with the large fence around it, with machine gun toting policemen and a large line outside!

Lina another website you could try is www.easyjet.com - click on hotels. We got the best deal from them.

We loved the Parkwood Hotel near Hyde Park. We stayed there the nite of our interview. Old, quaint but clean - 75 quid for an ensuite room. Nice neighborhood. You could walk up Edgeware to Grosvenor Square - a little hike - or take a cab for probably less than a fiver.

The nite before the interview we stayed at the Quality Crown Paddington - obviously in the Paddington area. I chose it because it had just been renovated and indeed it had been - all slick and modernistic with black deco furniture, flat screen tv's in the rooms - even a pants press on the wall. Paid about 79 quid for that one and it cost 9 quid to get from there to the embassy via minicab.

And no the Embassy isn't near Herrod's. For a 'shopping' reference point it's actually closer to Oxford Street.

We never used the tubes. We came in through Victoria Station and took a black cab to Paddington. Then a minicab to the embassy the next day. We rode the buses too- very efficient and only 1.20.

The embassy is a short jaunt away from Selfridges which is even better than Harrods
