How long did it usually take for the recipent to get the documents?
My girl lives in the philippines and she lives in the province so I'm not sure if it will really get there in the 4-6 days time frame indicated by USPS.

My fiance lives in Cagayan De Oro and usually gets regular USPS mail in 8-10 days. USPS Global Priority might cut that to 4-6 days. However, be aware that sometimes mail from the US to the RP gets "lost", as people are going through it looking for anything valuable. I sent a package of photos 4 weeks ago and it's still not there.

Keep a copy of everything you send!

FedEx is much more reliable but more expensive too.

About 7 days for global priority to the Manila area--if it arrives.

About 2 out of 3 USPS global priority envelopes arrive. I assume 1 out of 3 is opened in search of value and discarded.

Is FedEx more expensive than making 2 copies and sending it twice?

Are you talking about the flat rate $5.00 and $10.00 envelopes? Used those a lot of times to send stuff to Cebu from Baltimore and never had a problem. Not sure if any made it there in 4 to 6 days, but was much faster that first class mail. If you have something that must get there I would go with FedEx or DHL.

i have sent many (over 20) USPS global express packages and envelopes to my wife in manila. none has ever disappeared. it usually takes about 6 days. can't tell u abt the provinces. i sent documents 1 time by fedex, and it was only slightly more expensive than usps global express and only took 3 days.

Sending from Cebu from Baltimore is different then sending from Baltiimore to Cebu, as packages from the US to the RP are sometimes opened looking for valuables. I suspect that the more hops the package requires to get there, the more likely this becomes.

How are you comming up with that statistic?
I have sent lots of things via regular USPS mail to Philippines with no problems except 1 time a valentines day card never got there and one time it was a package that got there like in 4 months lol. BUt other than that regular usps has never been an issue other than the time that it takes to get there.

I have used domestic priority lots of times and not had 1 lost package..thats why I figure I'd try global priority since it seems to be faster than regular usps.

For regular usps for me it's been taking anywhere from 2 weeks to 4 months.

A lot of packages disappear on their way to their destination in the RP. It's a known fact. You have just been lucky so far.

I ship packages to my Fiance via USPS Global Priority and on average it arrives there 10 days later. She lives in a village in South China, Guangxi Province.

My girls interview is in the end of september. I just sent it today. I would hope it gets there sooner than 30 days.

If USPS says 4-6 days it'll arrived in manila .... they really do .... the problem sometimes is the Post Office in Phils .... that when it arrives, then packages will sorted to send out ... then it depends how workaholic is the courier staff will handled those package. If im not mistaken, when it arrives first in manila or any airport area it lands, then sending it out provincially or it may depends where it will be sent of first time.

I used USPS sending balikbayan box but its only going to makati city, manila .. USPS says 3 weeks and it did arrived in 3 weeks in my sister place. So how big or small it will be send to the recipient but its only really matters to custom and/or courier who will working on it.

If she doesn't get it in 2 weeks I would suggest sending another via FedEx.

Problem is, some of the things I sent are not replaceable. I didn't see the point of making copies of everything when they require originals for the interview.. how would having an extra copy do any good in that case. I guess if worse comes to worse we can reschedule the interview.

I sent a USPS global priority once it took about 2 weeks, she had to go to the postoffice and pick it up. Ive sent 2 by regular mail she never received either.

If she really needs something I send Fed Ex, takes 2-3 days. I also enclose a Fedex for me is she needs to return something. That way can get something sent and returned in under a week.

DHL may be about as fast but they dont get out of manila very far..

I would NEVER consider sending non-replaceable items via regular mail from the US to the RP! Never.
The thing is sometimes they will take the package, check for valuables and toss it.

BTW, it's easy to open an account with FedEx online. You can use it to send stuff there and she can use your account to send stuff to you if needed. My fiance sent her statement of intent to me FedEx and she sent me a card via regular post the same day. I had the FedEx in 2 days but i never got the card, and that was from the RP to the US!

I've sent 3 global priority to my fiancee. All of them got there. Fastest was 10 days, longest was 2 weeks and she lives in the provinces in a small town. I checked on sending her a package fed ex one time, they said they could do it and it would only cost me $500.00 LOL! The guy at fed ex freaked out and said let me check that again, verified her city,country and zip and all that and he says yup it's $500. So not sure fed -ex is a good option unless your fiance lives in a large city unless something has changed very recently.

With Fedex up to 8 ounces is about 48 bucks. One pound is 100....and it goes up from there.
