Does anyone think this will help or hinder?
I was thinking of e-mailing Mtl to ask if we can use our K3 date in Oct for our I-130 interview as it has been complete since Aug. 21 at NVC.
Do you think they will consider it or will it just p*ss them off?
Hi! My husband and I tried to use our K-3 interview for the CR-1 before we learned that our CR-1 was already scheduled.
Rob called NVC first to ask if it was possible to use the K-3 date for the CR-1. That was when they told him we have a CR-1 interview scheduled. So, in the end we didn't have to ask them to do any switching.
Anyway, the NVC people were nice enough to give us some info. Basically, if you wanted to use your K-3 date for the CR-1, you'd have to ask Mtl to do that. The consulate has to be willing to do the extra work of asking NVC to send them your files. It may be possible that Mtl will not want to do that (as they're already busy with other stuff). NVC was pretty clear that they will not initiate the "switching". It was at this point of the telephone conversation that they asked Rob to be on hold as they checked on the status of our case. A minute later, the person he was talking to told him we actually have a CR-1 interview date.
If your case was completed on August 21, you can probably call NVC next week to ask them if you are on the list for interviews. They may have an idea by the end of next week as to whether you made it for October interviews.
Good luck!
