Just thought I'd post my DCF experience in Algeria here in case there are any others out there...
My husband and I decided to file DCF at the American Embassy in Algeris, Algeria. When we had all the paperwork and all the documents together that they requested we made an appointment time with the embassy. They were open for any date we wanted to come. We made an appointment for a week later because we were still waiting to get documents translated into english. We flew to Algiers (from Oran) the day of the appointment and they approved our I-130 on the spot. At that time we also gave them all of our documents for the next step. They accepted them, but said we had to come back the next Sunday to actually file them. So we went back the next Sunday, we arrived two hours before our appointment time (due to the time of our flight) and they took us right away. They took my husband's fingerprints, took his passport, he swore that everything in the file was true, and we paid all the fees. After sitting for about ten minutes they called us up and told us that our visa was approved and we could pick it up in ten days at a UPS center down the road. Our first appointment was the 14th of August and our second appointment was the 20th of August. It's now the 29th, so tomorrow my husband will call to see if they have his visa!! They did not ask us any questions, only silence filler questions while the officer was looking at the paperwork... "oh, where did you live in Paris? There was a park by blah blah blah that I liked a lot..." that kind of thing. We had a large file full of evidence that they said they did not need, but took it anyways, I think mostly to humor us. Everyone was extremely extremely nice. The American officer spoke to my husband completely in French, which was great because that is what we were most worried about. My husband speaks english, but knowing how to answer questions on the spot as nervous as he was... we were worried. But the officer was as nice as could be. That's all I can think of to say... if there are any USCs out there with Algerian spouses who are thinking about DCF, feel free to email me any questions
