I have just been told that my dog in the US has to fly back here to Germany with me in October after I visited my man.
Does anyone know what we need as in documents for her and how much this will cost? She's a lab rottie mix about 15 months old.

Perhaps look on United's site (instead of someone here hazarding a guess)?

Then perhaps call them and ask?
BTW I know this doesn't answer the cost question, but this is from the link above:
"Travel to the European Union/EU
Effective October 1, 2004 a new regulation will be enforced that regulates the import of all dogs and cats into and transiting the EU. Besides an anti-rabies vaccinations certificate, all dogs and cats must have an implanted microchip or clearly readable tattoo. Pets not meeting these requirements will not be permitted entry."

Under the Pet Travel Scheme (PETS) (effective March 2005) your dog will need a 'pet passport'. You need to go to the vets, and have a rabies vaccination, and a microchip installed. After a 2 week wait, you need to return and give a blood sample that is sent to an approved lab- this costs $170. After the date taht this test is returned there has to be a 6 month period before your dog can enter the EU. This 6 months can either be spent here in the states, or in quarantine over there.
There are a lot of regulations to be followed, including travel with ceratin airlines, flea treatment etc. and they have to be done very precisely. Try doing a search on on the scheme (PETS), and call round some vets to find one that knows the procedures.
The total cost will estimate around $700.

@ LauraXmarie-
sorry but that seems WAY to much to me.I know she needs to be chipped, which she is.But all that stuff about the EU can't be true.Called UA last night (the 1-800 number, probably costs me an arm and a leg calling from Germany.......) and the flight for her will be somewhere between 157 and 257 $ depending on the Kennel we will need.
She already is on my flight now .Now we just have to figure the Kennel thing out.

True but stuff like that is my job in our family......lol.
And unfortunatley it looks like Lauraxmarie was right.....Since Maggie has never ben in Germany she needs that blood test done......And that right there means I can't bring her over here.
What am I gonna do NOW?????????

why did she have to return to germany??
if jim can't keep her, i would suggest that you start looking for a home for her now.

Maybe you can get the blood test done now and that way the next time one of you goes to Germany, the dog can travel with you?
Also, I was told about this titre test, too, when I took my dog to France in 2004, and on that form it says that certain countries are exempt from the titre test, as long as the rabies shot was given more than 30 days before and less than 11 months before. US was one of them. Look at the form carefully and see if it still says that. Talk to someone in customs in Germany. They'll be able to give you more accurate information. I e-mailed the french customs agent and she was very helpful and told me the titre test wasn't needed.
They may have changed the forms since I went, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I know the process- I went through it with a cat and a dog who I rescued while I was in Florida. If you dont want your dog to go into quarantine, is there someone who could look after it here in the states for the 6 months?
Ironically, that is why I planned to stay in the states longer, so as they werent going into quarantine- and then I fell in love with T, and now we are all staying here!

Ok the reason why she has to come to Germany until we go back to the USA with the K1 next year is bc my man will start working as a Truck Driver ,2 weeks on the road 3 DAYS at home.
Our friends dont want to watch her for us and that's why I have to bring her over here.We could give her away ,but to Jim,me and my son she is part of the family and we will try anything and everything to keep her. We're also trying to find someone in WA to keep her for us for 6 months but so far we don't know anyone who would take her.Jim will talk to his sister in MN and see whether we can have Maggie fly up there and stay with Jims sister for a while.
I have called Cutoms here in Germany and was told that in case Maggie had her follow up shots for rabies she'll be fine and wont need the blood tset.So as of right now we're trying to figure that one out.Jim is checking all her papers from the shelter and he will call a Vet to check with them.
all we can do as of right now.
And yes Lauraxmarie ,you were right. In case the pet has been found and there's no history of rabies shots or if the pet only had a single shot.If the pet had her follow up shots then it's fine.
Jen T.- my man told me that I have to bring her back with me.
