Hi everyone. I just wanted to warn you about something. I went on and read Jame's shortcuts and used the one where I downloaded the blank choice of agent form and then called to get my NVC casenumber and printed the barcode myself. I listened to the recording with the case number about six times and thought the first 3 letters were MPL and then the number. I made my barcode using that information and sent it in. I just spoke to someone in person at NVC and she said my case number starts with MTL. So...I sent that form in with the wrong number attached. Who knows what problems this will cause. The lady chastised me for printing my own form and said "we recommend that you not download your own forms". Just a friendly warning. If you use the shortcuts call a person and verify your case number...if not you could be dealing with the same thing.
This sucks! but it's my own fault I guess.

Usually the three letters on the case number stands for the US Embassy/Consulate. MTL should stand for Montreal. I don't know whether writing MPL instead of MTL would cause any delay or not. You can take care of the choice of agent by email. Have the beneficiary email the NVC to appoint the someone as his/her choice of agent. That way, you don't have to mail any forms regarding this.

Yep, I agree with simple_male......emailing the choice of agent has proven to be the best option. However, even with the other generated barcode sheets, one must be very careful to get the code correct. This can be done by checking either on the board by asking the question, or asking someone that is going through the same consulate. Everything should always be double checked as the shortcuts rely on 100% accuracy and timing or it may put this whole system of using James Shortcuts in jeopardy for future users. Im sorry this happened to you......but please everybody, check and double check when self generating smile.gif

As for the response of 'do not use downloaded forms etc', this is a standard response from NVC and downloaded forms have been accepted with no issues for as long as Ive known.

All the best to you and hopefully this wont hold you up any.

Thanks for your help as always. You have all been so great; I don't know what I would do without you. Is there a particular thread showing where to email his choice of agent info?

Within the first post of the thread where you read James Shortcuts, there is an example email to make the choice of agent. The email address is in the second post.
