How stupid am I??

I was so excited and glad to get my visa approved, and when I went to the post office yesterday to get it... I opened the first envelope and also the second one - wich was THE envelope I shouldnt have opened!!!

I have no idea what happens now!

Does any of you know what is going to happen to me and my love and my visa because of my stupidness....?

Oh, Kezzie, thank you for those words...!

I was so destroyed yesterday when I noticed what I had done... Such an anti-climax... I called to my love one in the US, and cried in the phone... and then I felt even more stupid because he was by that moment at his friends house and couldnt do much more than laugh.

I really do feel like a stupid blonde.... "oh, an envelope! lets open it!!" duhh...

Well, really I do hope that it is not such a big thing, and that they can easily reseal it.

I'll let you know what happens............. tomorrow I'll call the embassy, and swallow a bit part of my pride Ive had for a while....

What is this about a sealed envelope?

First iv'e heard about it. So this is good to know. What envelope should my fiancee not be opening, and who does she give it to?

its an envelope you'll get with your passport wich has the k-1 visa... the envelope has all the documents you have gathered to the embassy - and you will have to hand in this envelope when you get to the us.

But ... I will have more info about it when I have been to the embassy again.... I dont want to say too much about what happens to the envelope ... because what I say might be wrong.
matako
You may have to file a fresh I-129F and follow all the rules this time. This process has zero tolerance for error.

This is wrong, you will NOT have to file a fresh I-129F. Just go back to the embassy and ask them to reseal it.
Jani

Sounds like you are sure about this thing.... I also think that I do not file a fresh I-129F...
But who knows!? Maybe they are super strict about this nowadays...

does someone know this kind of an error happened recently?

I know it was such a stupid thing of me to do... and I am pretty ashamed of it... helpsmilie.gif

Yes there have been others who have opened the envelope and they have gone back to the embassy and explained and had it re-sealed.... no problems....

I’m just going to write what others are thinking.

How could you! Especially after all the hard work, uncertainty, delays, money, energy, and resources, AND what do you do... OPEN THE FREAKIN ENVELOPE! UNBELIEVABLE! Excuse me for be critical, but we are all dying to be in your shoes. You probably just stressed the hell out of your beloved who should have given you a good tongue lashing because you deserve it. GOODNESS! You are lucky that you do NOT need to return to the Manila Embassy in order to get the package resealed because you would be waiting all dahamn day. And you would deserve that too!!!

Good luck and God’s speed in the rest of your journey!!!

NOTE: PLEASE RETURN TO THE EMBASSY OR COSULATE (where you had the interview) AND HAVE THEM RESEAL YOUR PACKAGE! AND DON'T RE-OPEN IT!!!!

I hope it is...

but still... I did open the envelope I wasnt suppose to open - so something might and should happen because of all the rules etc.... or am I wrong?
I am just worried and scared that I destroyed something good now. Stupid me!
Sheriff Uling
sarah and hicham - That's NOT true! Simply return to the embassy or consulate and request to have it resealed. It's painless, but it cost you more time, energy, and evidently stress!

who are "they"...? Who do you mean?
It will be opened - but not by anyone else than by the United States Immigration or Public Health Service officer....
So I did a mistake which all people know - but I would of course not do it again if I got it handed to me again sealed... I am not that stupid... But I shouldnt say never... You never know; I migt have a topic going on here again next week saying "I opened the sealed envelope AGAIN".

So, Majizee, who are you talking about?

Yeah, it is a joke & Majizee is SICK! Don't trust, no0pb.gif

To the OP, just relax & go back to the consulate. It is an honest error ( i hope).

You Jani, of course.

If the message told you the first time not to open the envelope and you opened it, what makes them think you wont do it again?

What is the difference between the order you received NOT to open the package the first time and the order you will get the next time, that will make a difference?

Yes dear, please don't trust anyone telling you that you should feel bad or that you're going to be in trouble. And Majizee is famous for being an arsehole who wants to provoke people. Everything will be fine! Just a quick trip. Best of luck and welcome to the US!

thank you, that was sweet...

Its easy to get sad of bad words now when you already feel sad and dumb.
But I do also laugh about it a bit... it was kind of ironic and silly - and I am sure it is easy to fix. I really did freak out real good yesterday.

But honestly; I was really excited and happy yesterday, and thats why I opened it - Im sure Majizee doesnt know about that kind of feelings...

My brown envelope arrived with a tear in it, so to be on the safe side I sent it by Embassy Courier (London) and it was resealed for me. Phone you Embassy tomorrow morning, they will give you a reference number and either an appointment or instructions on how to send everything to them, depending on the Embassy. You should be fine. Let us know.

I’m just going to write what others are thinking.

Your posts lead me to the conclusion that you are some kind of idiot. Well meaning, I'm sure, but seriously. Don't speak for me in your 'what others are thinking'; it sounds like the thinking of someone overstressed, ill-informed and with his priorities out of whack.

I'm not even going to quote back the tripe you posted. This is not a woman who requires a tongue lashing--I think you should stay in your Regional Forum if that is how you (evidently all) think women should be treated.

When you are familiar with the way that envelopes are distributed for every Consulate on Earth, then you'll know what should be looked for and what should not. After reading for awhile, you might even learn that there are as many different ways to 'do' this process as there are people.

Since you think that making one minor error is sufficient reason to be strung up by the thumbs, you'll understand completely why I've posted this reply.
Consider yourself hung.

Jani, hopefully you've figured out now that this is not a fatal error, will not overly delay or inconvenience you and has an obvious and easy solution. Travel safely.

Sheriff Uling
meauxna - If I'm not mistaken, I did not mention you in my response to "Jani" nor did I imply that that because she is a women that she deserved any type of treatment. In fact, I wasn't aware of her gender before posting my response. So you can squash your gender kick and save your name calling for someone who cares what you think. I did not direct any tongue lashing your way and I would appreciate the same. Besides, get all your ducks in a row before making conclusions or labels. You don't know me nor do I know you. However, I did not see a negative reply towards “Majizee” who obviously was posting nonsense. Also, if you cared noticed, I did post that this is a simple fix and also offered a solution.

By the by, I wasn’t aware that I was limited to my own “Regional Forum.” Is anyone else aware of this rule?

Uling, you missed a couple of things then.

The words "I think" do not imply a rule; it's a suggestion.

I called the embassy, and had to wait for a while till they took my call.

I told the lady who answered, that I accidentally opened the envelope that I was not supposed to open blush.gif ... and she said I had called to the wrong department, but that she would ask her colleague about what to do. She said that there is no problems; I should only send the envelope back to the embassy - and they will send it all to me again in a new sealed envelope...

What a good relief!
I can sleep tonight, and I know now what to do...

... and the best thing;
I will go to the usa to my honey during october!

well, i also think the first thing you should do is go to the embassy and hopefully you can get it resealed before your flight to the US.
by the way: how does this forbidden envelope look like? is it not labeled with "DO NOT OPEN" or something like that? I dont know because I dont have my visa yet.
good luck to you
