My husband and I were just talking on the phone about when we want to start trying to get pregnant. Since I am on the Pill right now, he thinks that if I were to go off of it now I wont get pregnant for a year. I was under the impression that it could be about a month til the meds were out of your system. Does anyone know about this?

It can vary from person to person. When I went off the pill to have my daughter it took a month.

I guess it also depends on how long you've been taking it. The longer you do, the longer it takes to you to be fertile again.

Took me 1 month to fall pregnant after I stopped taking the Pill... I had been on it for 5 years...

My very first pregnancy years ago, which ended in miscarriage, happened because of ONE MISSED PILL. Don't buy into the stories. Your hormones may go a little more whacko then normal if you get pregnant right after going off the pill, but most likely you could become pregnant right away. But then again, it's all in God's hands when these little bundles come into our lives.

I know someone who got pregant right away after being on the pill for 10 years.

I've been on it for less than a year and I don't like how it has affected me. I started getting really bad mood swing after taking it and I can cry at the tip of a hat! I want to go off it sometime in the next year, but I think my husband wants me to get off it now. I guess we'll see.

there are different types of b/c pills...many many different types ... and ALL of them will do different things in your body. there are ppl who are psycho maniacs on one pill....change the pill and they become the most sweet and innocent person alive... and yes , it is absolutely possible to get pregnant from 1 missed pill...happens all the time. I wouldn't recommend it because most of the time, your hormones are so wacky from the pills that it can cause serious health defects on the baby and mucho stress on your own body. The best thing (according to most doctors) is to wait for 3 to 6 months so that your body can recoup and get into a decent swing of normality before trying to get pregnant. This is the advice we give on a daily basis to women who want to stop taking the pill to get pregnant. Hope it is of some help

Really hard to say...everyone's body is different. After I had my daughter, I took depo shots for a while...then when I got off them, it messed up all my body ... so I definetly would talk this over with your Dr or Rn...

I had to stop them. They made me crazy. I hated the way they made me feel.

I missed 2 pills and got pregnant. The lesson: fertility can resume IMMEDIATELY.

i think they say it takes 3 months to rid urself of the hormones in the pills but u can become pregnant immediatly. also start taking some folic acid now because the pill depletes it and folic acid is good for healthy babies.

My body hates anything with hormones. I came off of it this past March and only do
the FAM natural thing...so far so good

But there was a warning on my leaflet from Estrostep that said immediate pregnancy after the pill
can result in a miscarriage or even defects from the hormone residue in your body and to
wait atleast three months before conceiving....that was the first I had heard of that....


I would definitely suggest exercising and drinking lots of water too to flush your system from it all,
the healthier you are at the conception the better...and good luck on your conceptionjourney
