We went back to the SSA office yesterday for a couple of things.
We first applied for Marlene's SSN soon after we got married and she used my last name replacing her maiden name. Her middle name was her mother's maiden name (customary).
During the AOS interview, they informed us that they were modifying her name based on customary Philippine name conventions so that her father's surname would replace her middle name.
We then had different middle names on the perm. resident card and SS Card.
We completed a new SSN application with the new name, listed her birth name and put the name from the original application as "Other names used" and gave the SSN she was issued.
We used the perm. resident card ad ID and the change application was accepted without any difficulty.
On our first visit to the SSA office, the place was empty. We took a number and were called immediately. Maybe it was so empty because of the holiday season and cold weather. This time, the place was packed and only 1 space open in the parking lot. We waited for about an hour for our turn.
