I tried this in the "Test" thread as this happened to me in the K1 forum.

When one submits a post and clicks the "submit" button and one (same user) wishes to add another post with differing text or comments the second submittal is appended to the first post?

Example- the first post ends...here

but this text was submitted via a "reply" to the first post

And this is the second "reply" to this thread- Is this right?

Yes, I noted that too on the "Post Bugs Here" thread. Now if only Ewok or Wook would change the little blips beside a thread that denote there's a new post that's been added in GREEN the repost as a second post rather than an edit just might work, methinks laughing.gif

If I'm following you right.........The issue I think arises as the reply button at the base of the post is actually a quote button.....I have done that with my own posts accidently too.......its a little confusing wacko.gif

Yes, but only when you're "replying" to your own post. If replying to someone elses post it (the reply) works perfectly fine.....

That's why you were confused by my post in the K1 forum. The final posting was really supposed to be three different posts, all with different post times. Instead it took on the appearance as one submittal.

It can get very confusing......

I getcha now good.gif

I am also having a problem with the edit button at times as I am finding even if I go to edit straight away...if someone else has posted it wont let me edit mine. How have you found it????

I think it's cool if it only replys (adds to your own)IF your own is the one right before it..saves on signature length no? For ex...only one sig. would be displayed for you instead of 3 if you made 3 posts in a row. I like it! smile.gif M.

That's what I was getting at in the other thread with Shons posts..I could care less how many times she posts..just that her long sig. is there after each and every post in succession..if she posted all she wanted and only one sig..it's all good! smile.gif Unless I'm misunderstanding what it's doing..??M.

did I mention..I love the quick edit thing too! smile.gif

I think this is the "linear" vs" "normal mode". See the options tab.
kaydee457
Ok, I have switched to the "standard" mode.

this is the part of the original post...

this was added after my previous post.....

*nope*, it did not appear to fix this anomaly.......

The intended *second* post (which is a reply) is still appended/added to the original post.

thats good, why would you want to reply to your own post? doesn't that somehow equate to cyber masturbation - replying to ur own posts?

There are many that reply serially, such as when you answer one posters question but wish to reply to another in an entirely new post.

Many do this here. I do this frequently as well as other posters such as Yodrak, Aussie, Gimy........

Thanks for the masturbation connection, though.

if you wait for 5 minutes after your first post, this will not happen

I don't really think this a bug but a new feature.... it is kind of cool, I think whistling.gif
gimygirl
if you repost in the same thread too quickly and noone else has posted in it after you .... it will just add to your original post!! good.gif (end of post 1)

I certainly don't see this as a new option but rather an impediment.....or is it impedement? I dunno, no spell check either. !

It's annoying.

And it's an impediment when, for clarity, I want to make two distinct points in two distinct posts. So what if they're consecutive? Why should that matter?

I agree! I think it's very annoying and I like to quote one person and respond in a post and then quote another person and respond in a seperate post. It gets real confusing when the posts are long with multiple quotes and responses all jumbled up in one post!
Sharon
Ok let's try something here....
I'm attempting to see if it makes any diff if you send a post by clicking on the "Add Reply" that's located on the very top and bottom of each PAGE rather than clicking on the "Reply" that's located to the bottom right of each POST.

I am now posting post #1 after clicking on Add Reply at the top of the PAGE...

Now again after clicking on the Add Reply on the top of the page...is this a different, separate post?

* nope. Dayum...doesn't appear to be a way around it...
A.J.
I am posting.. now if you post it will be a new reply.
Sharon
Darn it I missed ya Agent Smith! haha
Kajikit
It's not a bug, it's a feature...

I don't know if I like it or not, but if it posts the quotes properly then I guess it doesn't matter.

I don't know if you meant that as a joke, but I think I read that in some office joke list to refer to something when it doesn't work right as a feature, not a bug.

I had what you are all talking about happen to me a few minutes ago. I posted something and thought of something else to post on the subject and the two were combined, so the reply worked more as an edit.

So if I understand everyone this will only happen when the posts are right after each other, no one else has posted and within 5 minutes of the first post? Otherwise, no problem?
