I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right forum. Sorry if I'm not. Hopefully the K1 will be granted. A very slow process. 100 days and counting. Can we submit for a visa once she has hers so that the mother could visit for about two weeks to be at the wedding? A tourist visa. Thanks in advance for any help.

Her mother applies for a Tourist visa - B2.

The information will be on the US Consulate web site.

She can apply anytime, there is usually a wait for an interview.

It is not easy to get a Visitors Visa from Colombia.

Regarding a tourist visa for your mother in law. Our embassy wants to see that there are compleling reasons for the foreigner to return home. Ownership of property, jobs and other family members in home country are all good valid reasons that someone will be likely to return to their country. If you are filing the K-1 now, then get started on the tourist visa over there. Usually the visas must be used within 6 months of issuance so that will likely allow it to be used by the time your K-1 gets approved.

I recommend that your mother in law not arrive until you and your fiancee have had some time together and know that the wedding is definite. I don't want to discourage you, but you want time together without having to take care of in laws. Give yourselves some quality time together. I know that you understand this.
