Full Version: Do they really process applications in order received?

Hi all,

I recently found out, through this forum, that all I-765 applications are processed through the National Benefits Center. Previously I thought each District Office handled local cases so I could understand why some people had a shorter wait than others.

But if all the cases are processed in one place and in the order they are received, how come some people get their cases processed before others with an earlier date?

I'm sure I have seen some recent approvals in peoples timelines who had NOA dates after mine, yet my case hasnt been touched since I had my biometrics taken in early July.

Is there something I am missing about why some cases take longer than others?

Dont get me wrong, I am happy for anyone who has had their approval quickly, but its just very frustrating playing the waiting game!!

Many thanks,

Matt

There never seems to be any rhyme nor reason to approvals of any kind where USCIS is concerned.

There are all kinds of things that factor into how long your approval will take and they aren't telling anybody why or when.

All you can do is be patient and you will get your EAD card shortly.

Best wishes.

Matt, I know exactly how you feel! It is frustrating indeed to see someone having an approval before you, when they sent their application after you sent yours!
I really have no idea how they handle their cases at USCIS. My guess is, they just use "vogelpik", to put it in my native Brussels language ( wink.gif to all Belgians here) , I mean, they just throw a dart and see where it lands, ie. they just grab whatever application they have handy.
Probably there are some more official explanations, ie. procedures, but I don't know.

My own take is they must use the applications with some kind of drinking game to figure out who gets approved when..hahaha!

I have no idea either!!! As far as I understand that stuff:

1) The post department of Chicago gets the mail. They sort it and see if everything is complete.

2) Mmmh nobody knows. Do the Chicago guys enter the case numbers in Cris? Do they send the applications now to Missouri? Do they keep the 485 until they have all they want and send it then to the local offices?

A transparent process would make things easier for all of us. I dont really understand why Missouri does all APs and EADs - wouldn't it be easier if the local offices did so? When I came to the local application support center last week they were not really busy. They had enough time to chat with me about Oktoberfest and in which tent they have the best beer (they all do a funny work travel to Munich in September/October). So I'd say why don't they hand out APs and EADs??? They talk to the people and easily can feel the vibe if people are honest or not.

Just my opinion cool.gif

i think they cast lots to see who gets the easiest, and who ends up with the most difficult.

I think that they are processed in Chicago and then sent to the local district office. If you happen to live near an office that is efficient, or perhaps smaller, then maybe you get through a bit quicker. I have to say that we have flown through this process relatively quickly (thankfully) and I put it down to our local office being really efficient with paperwork. Sending it to Chicago first seems like a monumental waste of time.

No EADs are processed by the National Benefits Center. AOS is "pre-processed" at the NBC then forwarded to your DO once they think its all good and you're ready for interview. The Chicago lock box processing just sorts the forms, checks for simple things like have you signed your forms and cashes the checks. The bulk of the real work is done a the NBC.

So who processes the EAD then, if it's not the NBC?
I've got my interview letter, so I suppose that means my AOS has been pre-processed and forwarded to my DO.
But one would think EAD would go faster than AOS, no? What's the point of paying big bucks for the EAD else?

Where is my freakin' EAD?? wacko.gif

Actually, I think they are reading VJ, to find out what they're supposed to do with all those applications landing on their desks! laughing.gif

Sorry, I missed out a comma. I meant to say:

"No, EADs are processed by the National Benefits Center."

EADs are processed by the National Benefits Center.

Sorry for the confusion!!! smile.gif
