Is there a way to find out if the embassy in Moscow has recieved our paperwork from NVC without calling to them and paying the $1.75 per minute ? I know it was sent out on the 16th just want to see when they recieve.

try tracking it on the dhl websit, sorry I am hopeless at linking but this is the address www.dhl.com

at the top where it says Track, click on "track by reference" type in the box expedite iv section and then fill in the dates and hopefully you should be able to see if it has a) arrived at the dhl facility or cool.gif if it has left there, hope that helps

have just checked out the site and cannot see any packages that have recently gone to Moscow. Once you are case complete it does take a while for it to leave the NVC and go to the DHL facility, they do not send out cases one by one but apparntly by the box full, so I think you have to wait until there are enought to warrent sending them, I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.

I too have the impression they mail out petitions in batches. Tracking with DHL hasn't worked for me (couldn't find the date NVC said they've sent my petition to Rio de Janeiro) and it was only one more source of stress. Also, even if you find stuff sent out Moscow by DHL-tracking, it's not a sure thing that *that* packet contained *your* petition.

for K1 - the reference is Expedite NIV Section

Our letter from the NVC was dated the 16th. After searching the DHL site for Moscow, it looks like it was sent the afternoon of the 21st... I think.

Going to track that and watch the Moscow web site too.

Know what you mean about maybe your petition is not in the package that has maybe just gone out, but if it is a week or so after you have been told your package left the NVC I think you are safe to assume that yours is in that pile, hope you hear something soon. good.gif

I'm thinking it might be this one myself, as the other destination was St. Petes... But I would be happy either way!

ohmy.gif What a scam. How can a US Government Agency get away with charging for case information, through a third party?

Having worked for the Government, I find this appalling and embarrassing. Things like this explain the bad rap that the Government has earned.

Damnit man, what are they thinking?

Kind of taking a tagent here, but to get info over the phone about non-immigrant visas in Brazil, we have to pay BRL38.00 (approx. $16).

I emailed the Korean Consulate today to make sure they got out petition and they emailed me back right away to tell me they did and even attached packet 3, you might try emailing if they have an email address.

Or faxing... some consulates/embassies respond better/faster to faxed inquiries.

Actually, I've heard the best way is to contact the State Department (202-663-1225). It's a free call, except for long distance charges (of course, you can always use your cell phone and avoid those charges too).

By the way, for the Moscow people NVC told me that my petition was sent on 8/10 and as of this morning Moscow and the State Department are still saying it wasn't received in Moscow. I've seen other postings where people have said that petitions will often sit in Moscow for a week or so before getting logged into their system.

I will update you as soon as I hear something.
