I'm hoping to get a group together for end of September. I'm finding some great condos for rent, not too much money. I found one for $19 a day. Small but looks great. For multi-bedroom ones, the price per person is no more than a separate hotel room and can even be less.

Bayview Park Hotel in front of the U.S Embassy. They have discounts. Let your Filipino fiancee make the reservations; they give discounts to locals.

Good luck! rose.gif

Hi! There's plenty of hotels to choose from along Roxas Blvd. where the US Embassy is just a walking distance away. Like Bayview Park Hotel, Boulevard Mansion, Manila Diamond Hotel, Traders Hotel. These are kinda cozy one, a little bit expensive but very classy. Some are offering a 50% discount. If you want a lower price below your budget, there are some but not along Roxas blvd, still close to the embassy. I think there's one which is $34 per night.

I stayed at the swagman...about three blocks from the embassy...$57 a night in june

Bayview Hotel is across the street and right now you can book through asiarooms.com for $45 bucks (it's cheap because it's pre-booked...and through the rooms blocked for the agency.)

I booked a room at the Bayview Park hotel (across the street from the American Embassy) in Manila. I booked through AsiaTravel.com (the lowest price I could find) and got the room for my wife and I for $48.00 per night, and that includes a buffet breakfast. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at quiettalker1@yahoo.com. Clarke

Why don't you just post your impressions for everyone? That's what a forum is for, to share and learn from each other.

I'm sorry if I was not clear with my reply before. I have not stayed at that hotel yet. I will arrive in Manila on September 24th, and we will (hopefully) return on the 3rd of October. My wife's medical date is September 19th, and the interview date (I will be there for that) is September 26th.
I wanted a hotel that was close to the Embassy, and that one was recommended to me by another filipina here in Washington State where I live. You can obtain info online at about several hotels by going to AsiaTravel.com. Again, I appologize Clarke

My fault. I probably didn't read carefully enough. Since we will be in Manila at the same time, I hope you're planning on meeting up. smile.gif

Bayview was where I stayed.

If you can get a good deal, get it. I got the room in advance over the internet. Got screwed, paid about 80 dollars.

An interesting problem for me- my sweetyko is from the sticks, worked in an internet cafe, never had nice clothes or anything like that. T shirt and jeans and flipflops is her normal apparel. No makeup.

They refused to let her in by herself to confirm the reservation, before my arrival. Thats the way it is, in the Philippines, sadly.

We would be happy to meet you there in Manila. Maybe you can stay at the same hotel. We will only be there 3 days, September 24, 25 & 26. We will be leaving for Valencia City on the 27th, and will return to Manila on October 2nd to spend the night. Our flight leaves Manila at 8:05am on the 3rd. Monday September the 25th is a free day for us, no specific plans. Tuesday 26th is her Interview date.

My wife is also from the sticks. South of Valencia City, in North Central Mindinao. Worked in internet cafe also. Never had nice clothes, prefers t-shirt & jeans. I bought a nice skirt & blouse to wear after we were married there last September, and I am buying another nice pair of pants and blouse to wear for her interview. If you book through AsiaTravel.com, they send you an email with a confirmation letter to present to the Hotel upon arrival. I sent an email to the hotel with all the details, and have been assured there will be no problems with her checking in, since she will get there a week before I do.

i'm not sure if it's how she was dressed on why she wasn't allowed to check in. it's probably 'coz she did not have her confirmation/voucher. asiatravel.com already had pre-paid blocks of rooms but the hotel will only acknowledge that if you show proof that you booked with asiatravel.com.

Yes, I agree. After I booked our room, I printed two copies of the confirmation voucher, and sent one to my wife. She will present that to them as soon as she arrives at the hotel. I booked far enough in advance so that I would have time for my wife to recieve the voucher. It takes 14-16 days for my mail to reach her. I also followed up with an email to the hotel, just to make sure everything was done that needed to be done.

Yes, I think she did not have the confirmation with her.

It was odd to me that she was unable to even get past the door guard, though. Very snobbish of them.

As a kano, it seems I can go anywhere I want. But a poor Filipina is sometimes more restricted.

A similar thing happened to my buddy who was visiting Mactan Island, his GFs home town. He asked her to visit the resorts to help him select one for his impending visit- but none of them would allow her past the gates.

have your fiancee arranged the hotel booking in the list provided by other Vjers.. If she already booked the hotel, tell her to make arrangement with the hotel for airport pick-up. Bayview is ok, it is just across the Us Embassy

Good luck
