I'm kind of curious about how and when member status changes on this site. Let me clarify. Right now, I'm showing as just being a "member" with three squares by my username. Is this status based on actual time or number of posts? And what are the cut-offs for each level...Kinda curious...

I have been wondering that too Kirsten. I have three squares as well, lots of posts, and we both have young timelines...

I wonder if hovering around the site, logged in and waiting for my NOA1 counts as well???

When I first joined, I wondered the same thing. I kept trying to find where I'm suppose to sign up for the 'gold membership'....hehehe. It's based on the total number of posts you've made. If you click on 'My Controls', you find out your total.

Thanks! I was guessing it was probably a total post thing, and I did already find in "My Controls" where it shows my total number of posts. But I still don't understand the cut-offs for each level. I have just over 75 posts...So shouldn't I have four squares now? Or is it some mysteriously STAGGERED system that I can't discern on my own...?

I think a staggered system would be the case if CSC ran this site!

I think #2 and 3 came with fifty posts each. After that it was 100, and then at gold member status I think the new squares come after 200 posts each. The number you need to get another square increases as you go on, but I'm not sure about the actual numbers...

To know how many posts you need to get an extra square, you can browse through the members list. It shows the number of posts each member has posted and how many squares they have.

Just keep in mind that the post count has nothing to do with the credibility of advice offered... you have to be around a while and observe what's being said to know that...

Well, I don't think ready4ONE and I were engaging in any kind of serious post boosting. We were having a chuckle as we tried to figure out the system. I for one don't have the time to engage in serious post boosting. LOL! Who exactly does...? You must really be minus a life if you get to that point...

I only think one word posts to get the post count up are a little shady. Conversations are just fine .

all I know is I went from two squares to THREE last night on my 30th post.

Well, there are several guilty of that act. Polls come to mind, for example. Someone voted on every single poll to boost posts.

I spend all of my time on here trying to help and support others, resulting in lots of posts.

The congratulations that occur in K-1 are just that, supportive to the other members. For those that complain about that effort, well get a frigging life. You were there once too.

I could care less about squares and hearts, well at first it was interesting, but that faded quickly.

My focus is on my Fiance.

I hear ya', William. Like you, I make an effort to congratulate others because, well, they've been waiting. It's been a long road for most people. They deserve a little congratulations.

As for focusing on the squares...I simply noticed that the changes weren't happening the way I would have expected. I got curious about why. It kept me amused and laughing for a little while...a momentary distraction. Don't we all need those in order not to go nuts while we wait? If I thought about Laurent every second of the day, I'd be bonkers already...I miss him terribly. Haven't seen him since January, and it's likely to be a lot longer since neither of us is exactly rolling in dough. I certainly hope you don't think that silly squares are more important to me than my fiancé...You couldn't possibly think that...could you...?

I was not referring to you. There have been comments made in off topic, that we in K-1 are post boosting with the congrats. I was pointing out that this effort was supportive to the other members.

Yes, and I agree with William33....I don't give a ratsd**k about the lousy squares. People on here deserve the congrats, God knows they earned it . Now.....I'll go with Rosemarie for the block......
