Anybody here had this problem?

Ours took about 10 days, I think - did you have your medical within a couple of days of the interview?

Medical was weeks ago. Feel as though they just threw us off to the side, simply because his flight wasn't until the 1st. What the heck we have waited this long we can hurry up and wait some more.

Damn they are messing ya about yu have waited long enough or the whole process - I hope it comes real soon

I kind of feel that way about it. It's like oh well they have waited this long they can wait longer. I am a bit ticked off. Fact is that he isn't travelling until the first, but it is the idea if he wanted to he can't not only does he not have a visa, but no passport either! Delta has so many seats opening up on earlier flights and there is no way we can even ask them to bump him to an earlier flight. Now my worries (even though probably silly) is what if this time next week they still haven't bothered to do anything and we end up into the next week not knowing when it is coming. I am a worry wart to some extent, I got a lecture on this tonight!

At this point I am a mix of emotions, I had this huge high last week so excited and would still be if the visa had arrived. This just tossed a glitch in my emotional state, it is a big ol' F*ck you, wait some more. I have bawled my eyes out tonight, finally ended up laughing and counting down the days again. Just thought it was all over and then this. Odd I have handled everything up to this point so well, suppose it is just the winding down that has done me in. I can say like everyone else ...........I want this over with!

Had to vent it has been a long night, kept my poor husband up until 2am!

But, the big part is done! I would go from the source: from the moment they approved you, what did they tell you exactly? And, I would call them back and tell them: we have to get organized for the futur weeks...how long should we wait? If possible to have a frametime, and not getting nuts (actually i would tell them that lol i don't know if it's possible to say so) waiting.

Sure the worst part is over, and I am sure there are some just starting the process that wished they were in our shoes and only waiting a parcel containing their visa. Still doesn't make the waiting any easier now, than it did for us twenty months ago.

The gal said to him "I will get this in the post, you should have it Monday or Tuesday", he then ask "does that mean it is approved?" she replied "yes". Pretty straightforward if ya ask me.

As I have posted, he did call the embassy their resolution was to turn around and send them (the embassy) an email with a reference number on it. Heavens forbid that particular person do what we pay them to do, but rather passes the buck to the guy getting the email on Monday. All she told Tim was that the case hadn't been touched since the interview date, but there were not any problems. Sorry there is a problem, it is sitting there whilst the next umpteen people following us get their visas.

Well this just stinks!! Sounds like somebody went on holiday and didn't get their last stack of paperwork done before they headed out. Yes, I would be all over them, phoning and e-mailing. This isn't typical for London at all.

Every step of this process is hard. Just because someone is further along in the game doesn't make their stress any less real. That's why this community is so valuable to me. I can always find somebody who's where I've been or where I'm headed.

Typical for us though it seems! I am okay today with it all, yesterday was tough.

Well, you know how I feel about such things-I am of the cloth that a squeaky wheel gets oiled.
Give them a phone every day if you have to (but in a nice way, of course) ...Rebeccajo sounds like she hit it straight on...someone is sleeping on the job and needs a wake up call !

Even if he's not due to come until the 1st-I totally understand your wanting to get that visa in hand ! I'd feel the same way !


It will get sorted soon. Just keep riding their tail. Eventually you will get someone who actually does their job.
In a few weeks, this will all be history and I have to say, it's sort of like childbirth-you forget the pain quite easily once it's over.

Mrs B, totally understand where you are if I were in your shoes I would be quite scarce as well. A couple of weeks from now you might not realize I exist cuz when that man gets home all of my time is going to him. You enjoy your time with him! When are you off on holiday?

I really feel helpless in this matter, Tim has taken over now and him being the polite Brit that he is seems more patient than I am. However he did say he was going to call again first thing Monday, and of course he sent the email on Friday. Now that he knows how upset I am I am sure he will get on it in a more hmmm "Bethanie sort of way". Were it me, I would have told that woman on Friday look I am moving my flight up I need my Passport and visa NOW. It's bullcrap that the gal he spoke with had him resort to email.

As for our holiday, it begins tomorrow. Hope it'll be good and hope that the dogs behave well for my sister !!!LOL !!!
Our adjustment has been quite simple-everyone here seems to be doing well, apart from the fact that Mr. Clinton ate Graham's passport and part of his visa ! Our son seems to be enjoying life with his new "parent", and although my man is a bit of a messy guy-his help around the house has been a Godsend!

Well, off I go onto another fun filled day of massage therapy !!!

Rose as you see it is still not sorted, no idea what is going on or why it is happening to us. I realize we still have a week and a half before he travels, but I am getting very worried. If they would just tell us a time frame to expect the damn visa, at least I would feel more comforted.

So glad everything is going well for you two. Thank goodness you don't need that passport for your holiday lol. Enjoy your trip and time together!

He rang the lovely 1.20 a minute line yet again today, they don't give you case specific information so it is a waste of money time and effort. Still no reply on the email he sent on Friday. So I guess we sit and wait some more, so damn used to it by now you wouldn't think it would be tough to do though it is the most difficult part of this so far. So I give up hopefully we will get a bloody email from them!

Latest news, hope it is true. Possibly something to look for in the future with London.

Called DOS again this afternoon. Spoke with a lovely gentleman who turned out to be very helpful. At first he gave me the same song and dance I have been getting, only he added it is going through a standard name check. I ask how long this normally takes or if he could even give me an estimate. He ask me if I could please hold which I agreed to.

He came back a few minutes later to say that they are processing the case and that is all he knew. The usual sinking feeling set in and I said, I know you are getting ready to go home have a good evening. He stopped me with whoooooa wait a minute, the reason I put you on hold is because I have never seen anything like this in London and I was very unsure of what it was. I went on that I agreed and knew it wasn't typical for London, and that we were down to the wire on his employment and flight arrangements and just did not know what else to do. I then ask him if I should continue to call each day, and he said oh no no no London is issuing the visa they are finishing it up and you should hear from them by the end of the week. Well this has made me feel better though still skeptical, and now wondering why someone could not have told us this last week! Perhaps the senator got through today. So hoping and praying what this one sais is the truth and my darling husband will be home next Friday.

Going to point out the gal that interviewed him was a younger woman, he guessed early 20's. He said she was NOT polite, never smiled and as I posted in another thread she didn't even tell him he was approved, he had to ask. Looks like the norm the past two weeks in London for not so happy embassy employees. Suppose they are under a lot of stress. But then so am I!

that really sucks -- if it makes you feel better we got ours 2 days before the flight, I think this was due to a delay from having h's medical 2 days before the interview

but the situation you are describing does sounds weird

Thanks Maggie for checking in, makes me feel better others give a poo, and at least have some understanding of what we are feeling after all a wait is a wait.

My stomach has churned all day today and if I don't get a grip I am going to end up with an ulcer lol. This is just so unlike me, I have handled all of this well before. Surely it has to do with that before we knew what was next and had an idea of a time frame. Right now the only thing to look forward to is that visa, the ultimate goal in all of this. I was so enjoying counting down the days until he was home, but lost track of that around Friday. I think we are at 10 days left, and I know I was anxious to get to the single digits need to just focus my energy on that to get through this.

I sooooooooooooo need to get my house up to my standards for his return but at this point I can't focus on one thing for more than a few minutes. When that visa arrives, I am going to be a cleaning fool!

I think when the end is in sight and so close it makes the patient waiting part ALL the harder. Hang in there though!!! Last time I went to see Evan in the USA I was checking in at DC for my flight to Raleigh only to find out the flight was cancelled and there were no more that day!! Much to my embarassment I became a blubbering mess and begged them to get me somewhere near Raleigh that night - they did, to Greesboro, an hour drive away!! ONe more night should not have been such a big deal but not having seen him for 3 months I was so looking forward to seeing him again ......

Unfortunately I am working and not holidaying in the DR but it is good to be back here. Have spent most of the last 2 years here and enjoyed it. It's certainly nice to have some heat again after England - it was meant to be summer there..... hmmm....

I hear it hasn't been very warm in sunny England. Listened to my youngest step son Sunday, running down his list of clothing for a day out. "DAAAAAAD I got on me socks, trousers and I need to go by home and get a sweatshirt cuz its nasty outside". I had to of course be a smart a** and tell him not to forget his underpants, which made him gasp "WHO SAID THAT"! He had no clue I was there eavesdropping on the headphones.

Hopefully you will catch the foilage just as its turning - should be a pretty time of year to visit. Of course, Tennessee is always gorgeous, but I'm biased.

Hopefully Mr Nice will enjoy the trip. We went through there to Biltmore late October a couple of years ago caught the foliage just about right. I haven't been to the smokies in nearly 10 years I do remember it being lovely though.
