Hello to all!

I just wanted to share my news because I am soooo happy after the long and boring wait since moving to the US.

I finally landed a job in my field and I start Monday. It's an architectural job which I went to school for and am certified in Canada. Now I can stop applying to Wal Mart and Target biggrin.gif

Also, my husband and I got a mortgage and we are closing on a condo on Sept. 1st. The mortgage broker found a loophole in the system so that my name can be on the mortgage and I can build my credit rating now with it.

Here is the deal....since my husband qualified for the loan on his own income/credit score, they just add me on and say my income is $0 (I haven't started working yet). I guess the law states that if the person with the good credit score makes 50% or more of the gross household income than you can have someone with no/bad credit put on the mortgage. All they needed was a copy of my social security card, my passport, and my visa. Now they are joking with me saying in about 12 months I will be getting so many credit card applications in the mail I will be complaining of having good credit lol.

I'm so happy. I have a new job, a new home and I am on my way to building excellent credit kicking.gif

I wanted to thank everyone here through the journey of getting my EAD/SSN. You guys were such a great help and even greater when I needed the support I couldn't get from the people in my life (they just don't get it do they lol).

Congrats on the new job!!!! Good luck for a very successful career here in the U.S.

I never gave any thought to being able to be put on our mortgage with my husband. I thought it was just an automatic thing once you're married. Oh well, I'm on the mortgage and the deed, so that's all I care.

Enjoy your new home!!!!

Thanks Raymaga,

Actually we tried about 5 different mortgage brokers and they all told us that since I have no credit established in the US that it wasn't possible for me to be on the mortgage. I really wanted to be on the mortgage to build my credit score and for my AOS interview so I was so happy when someone found the loophole for us.

That's good you didn't have any problem getting on the mortgage.

Wow, that's great...well, I'm sure that information will help other people (like me!) building up a credit score...I hope that rule applies to WA state also smile.gif

Congratulations!

I’ve just received my EAD, after a very long boring wait! I been here since November 2005 but only applied for AOS & EAD in April 2006. I can’t wait to get a job! I just hope I find a job in my area.. I don’t want to end up at Wal-Mart stacking shelves but if it has to be done.. it’ll be done!

Good Luck with the Job! smile.gif
