Hi Folks,

I've just been approved as a permanent resident (yippppeeeee) and I'm planning to fly to Northern Ireland as soon as my green card arrives. Which form should I fill out when i'm on the plane?

Thanks!

Kat

Congrats on the greencard... you only need to fill in the Customs form on the plane... and when you return you go through the USC/Residents line at immigration not the tourist line...

Have a wonderful trip home...

Hi Kat,

Congrats again on your approval! good.gif
As Kezzie said, you will just fill in the white customs form and you'll get to go through the citizens/residents line, which is sooo cool! biggrin.gif

I just got back to the US after a trip to my home country and the officer at the POE was extremely nice, he asked how I liked being a resident, congratulated on my status and told me "Welcome back home"! It's such a WONDERFUL feeling! kicking.gif

Enjoy your trip! rose.gif

Does that only apply to permanent residents. Does the same apply to the greencard you receive initially or do you have to wait to be permanent resident.

galwayman there is no diffrence between a Conditional Resident and a Permanent Resident when it comes to work and travel....

galwayman,

The real name of the 'Green Card' is the Alien Registration Receipt Card, or Permanent Resident Card. You've got one, right? What does it say in big letters across the top?

Yodrak dont be such a smartarse tongue.gif i was just asking. No i dont have my greencard as you can prob notice from my over extended signature.
Yodrak
galwayman,

Nope - I have viewing signatures turned off for just that reason (too many are "over extended").

I assumed that you had gotten your Green Card when you responded "Excellent then ..." after Kezzies post telling you that there was no difference between a 'Conditional Resident' and a 'Permanent Resident'. Sorry for misinterpreting your remark - so what did you mean by "Excellent then"?

Yodrak i was just delighted for the original poster who is irish like myself. I used the wording excellent to convey my delight that i wont have to stand in a queue going through immigration. The last time i went through immigration i was interegated about all the times i was coming over. That was last september when we came over here to visit my wifes family. Last september was the last time we came over before we moved over here in march.

Sorry if you feel like i had a hidden agenda but i dont.I was just genuinely delighted because it will mean less hassle for us and thats important when you have a wife who hates flying.

galwayman,

I don't feel that way at all. Nor do I have a hidden agenda.

Glad we've cleared up my misunderstanding, I hope you will have your Green Card soon.
