If you dont have health insurance would it be considered a negative thing in the interview when it eventually comes up. I have my health insurance in ireland which i pay $65 dollars a month. I better cancel that as i only kept it on as they have a policy when you are covered for a maximum of 3 months abroad. My wife started her job in march and she inquired about getting me on hers. As she works for a small company her insurance kinda sucks and they wanted $500 a month for me to be added on. We cannot afford that so we didnt take the offer. I figured i would wait until i have a job and then get health insurance. I was expecting to be working now but thats another story. I dont want to get an independent health insurance plan as im sure health insurance will be included when i can get a job. I know there are lots of ifs and buts!!!!

Not at all. Don't forget there are way too many Americans out there without health insurance so you're not unusual in any respect.

We were in the same position at the time of my interview, it was just too expensive for me to go on my husbands insurance - so I went without. It was never mentioned at the interview, and I got great insurance shortly after starting my first job.

It really won't count against you, its just one of those things that takes a little time to get itself all worked out. Its quite weird, in a year from now, you'll think back and realise just how much you've accomplished..

I haven't heard of anyone being asked at an AOS interview if they have health insurance. As others have mentioned, quite a lot of Americans don't have any because they can't afford it. I've been here nearly 2 years without it, and I just keep my fingers crossed that I don't get hit by a bus.

Not all employers offer health benefits anymore, but at least if you find a decent job, you may be able to afford it on your own. Maybe.

I'm waiting for my wife to get a job to get myself covered as my job here doesn't offer health insurance. Someone tell her to hurry up and find a job before I fall down the stairs...

I have insurance but it is HORRIBLE!!!!!

I pay about $50.00 bi-weekly and it doesn't cover much at all. Insurance just isn't what is use to be.

Hey I hope you don't fall down the stairs.............my trip cost me about $750.00(that is with insurance). I may even need surgery(God I hope not). I can't even imagine what that would cost

Technically i have insurance but i am not covered as i have been here for then 3 months. Theres no chance of me falling down the stairs. I rarely get sick but once i get a good job i will get insurance all the same. .

When i lived in ireland i went 18 months without health insurnce and only got health insurance afer my mom got cancer. It was like a stark reminder that anything can happen in life.

well i dont have HI either and it sucks!! i started working last year and if i get it over my job i gotta pay $200 a month and it covers only the dentist and ob/gyn.. no hospital, maternity or ER.. that sucks cuz you never know what will happen... and if i get insured over my hubbys work we gotta pay around $200 a week!! but that covers everything.. i dunno what we are gonna do cuz we just found out we are excecting.. he/she is due april 11th..
