I would help but my husband did it all himself, so I don't have the answers!

Here is a question for starters:

I read the guide for AOS on VJ it says send medical information. Hicham doesn't have his Vaccination records but he got his vaccinations with his medical exam before the interview. Will they have that info since that was included in the envelope he wasn't supposed to open at POE?

Thank you!

Sarah

Sarah,

We had the vaccination worksheet and took it to a civil surgeon, so this was not an issue (this is one part I *was* involved in). However, I was reading in the AOS forum today, and some people include a note that the medical was in the brown envelope and should be in their possession. It sometimes works, and sometimes not - in which case you would get an RFE. It really is up to you if you want to chance the RFE and delay.

Thank you so much Bosco!

I appreciate it!

You may also want to call up the civil surgeon. Ours was amazingly helpful. They only do immigration stuff, so they know the rules backwards and forwards. They said that for Amed's age, he only needed proof of the measles mumps rubella shot, tetanus shot, and oral confirmation that he'd already had the chicken pox. I think there was one other shot he might have needed, too, but for whatever reason I'm drawing a blank.

Anyway, the tetanus was the only one of those he'd gotten during his visa medical. He had the vaccination record for that one. The other, he had to take, but it wasn't that expensive. I think all of the paperwork and the shots cost us $95.

Call up the civil surgeon near you and ask what is required for Hicham. Chances are, he may need all of the shots anyway. We did not include Amed's other vaccination records in the packet we sent with AOS, but we put a little note in the table of contents page that explained that this was the supplement and he'd recently completed the visa medical so a new medical wasn't required.

Hi Sarah!
I am so happy to hear that all is going so well for you both...as for your question...since Jamal was not given his vaccination record we called the doctor in Casa and Jamal's brother went back there to pick a duplicate...With that in hand I contacted various Civil Surgeons in my area but they are all money hungry and wanted to do a full medical over knowing that it is not necessary so what we did was include the Vaccination Record we got from Morocco and are hoping for the best...Jamal had his biometrics done on the 5th of August and we are now just waiting for the next developments...I have no idea why I am not able to look up the case status on line and when I called USCIS they told me that they will speak only with Jamal...I am getting frustrated here mad.gif ...I am only at the beginning of the process...but if you got questions just ask...Good luck... good.gif

Sara, We sent in the AOS packet without Atif's Vac Supplement. The form says it MAY be included. As long as you have it ready and with you guys at the time of the interview you should be ok.......we haven't gotten an RFE yet on it, but if we do I'll let you know. I do know that because we don't have acopy of it [and the Dr there is not helpful at all!] that Atif will have to have blood drawn andto check for thea antibodies of the vacs that he received in Casa, and then he has to have another Tetnus--they can't test for tetnus.

I know there are some doctors who will only agree to the full medical. The first doctor I called here was the same way. However, I was able to find one who only did the supplement.

I would be wary of not sending the 1-693 a supplement. Lots of people have gotten RFE's for not having the proper medical supplement. You may get lucky (and I hope that those of you who decided not to send the supplement do get lucky), but I think it would be better to be overprepared than to have to wait and sort out an RFE. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

I did not send the supplement with the AOS but I did include my copy of the vaccination worksheet - the original of which was supposed to be included in with the medical. All of my shots were complete and up to date. I explained that in the covering letter. I did not get an RFE. I received my AOS without an interview so never presented the supplement that I had done with the local civil surgeon and intended to bring to the interview. If your husband's vaccinations are all up to date , especially if he got them done at the actual medical, I would include that information in a covering letter and see if that is acceptable. If you get an RFE, well then you will have to obtain the supplement. Good luck.

Sarah,

Abdou and I were in with a group that had not been warned to get a copy of medical exam for AOS. We sent in our AOS paperwork without it in August 05 knowing they should already have the information from the enevelope he gave them from his exam before his interview. We did receive and RFE for the exam. We didn't want to wait and try to get it from Morocco so we looked up a civil surgeon just a few miles away and Abdou elected to have the shots again. He told them he had chicken pox so only had to retake two shots. Real shame they made him do this but we returned the information just one day after receiving it. It cost him $130 for the two shots and report. Put it in the mail, they processed right away and we had our AOS interview January 06. You can take a chance if you want but you may receive the RFE too.

Good Luck!

Thank you so much you guys! That is extremely helpful.

One more thing, so if we get a copy of this from the doctor in Morocco where he had all of these shots does he still need to see a civil surgeon here, and why would he need to?

Thank you everyone!

The DS-3025 from the medical in Morocco is not an acceptable substitute for the I-693A. It seems silly to have to pay someone to check a few boxes and sign a form, but only a U.S. Civil Surgeon can complete the I-693A.

Since you are granting wishes, can I have some fat-free, calorie-free, no-carb cookies? laughing.gif laughing.gif laughing.gif

How about some fat free butter instead. You can eat it like jello.

Hi again,
Ok so I'm trying to think ahead a little and since we don't have anything from the medical besides the X ray would it be wise to have Hicham's family go get a copy of his vaccinations? If so, can they fax it here or do we need to have them send it in the mail?

once we get that we need to take it to a civil surgeon and have them "transfer" it to the other 693 form, yes?

Just checking thank you so much!
Kisses!

Sarah,

I would call civil surgeons in your area before you do anything. Some people have a hard time finding a doctor that will do the supplement (several in my area wanted to do a full physical but a few would do the I-693a alone). Once you find a doctor who will do just the I-693a, ask them if they will accept a fax copy or if they need a hard copy. The fees they charge vary quite a bit too.

Hi this thread is back! With a new question,

Do I need to send evidence with our AOS packet such as photos from our marriage or joint bills or do I save that for the interview?

Thanks!
