Yeay!!! We are now approved and on the way to our wedding on the 21st october!!!!
Interview was in London yesterday morning at 9am. Got there at 8.30am, was in the embassy by 9am and out at 1pm!! My finance happened to be visiting (he left for the USA this morning - still in mid air - will be happy when I hear the plane has landed safely). The only extra security was that they were making you leave or empty drink bottles. He had to leave his wash bag at the gate and his camera at the second enterance. Lots of brittish bobbies standing around who did have guns but were friendly looking.
They seemed to have problems with my fingers prints, the guy joked my fingers were too worn down, but apart from that it was all fine. I was asked when we met, how long we were together for in the South Pacific, how long we have been apart for, when we met each others families, how we stayed in touch, when I visited him in the USA? I was a little nervous and got some dates wrong but it did not seem to matter. She also gave me some information but I'm not sure i heard it really as I was so spaced out by then.
A little anti climactic at the end as they did not say anything definitive, like you've been approved, or congratulations, etc... but they did hold on to my passport for the visa so i guess all is good!!! :-) Now I hope I get my passport back before my flight to the Dominican Rep on monday.
I feel exhausted today after the ordeal, got back to Liverpool at midnight and had to leave the house to drop Evan off at 6.30am. But so relieved and happy!!!! Must get on with the list 'to do' now.
Good luck to all of you still waiting and THANKS so much to everyone for their help throughout this complicated process. I have appreciated the moral support as well as the practical information. Next stage is AOS right? Have not even started to look at that yet!!!
Maggie
