I gave away my puddy cats today

I am hoping they have gone to a good home, at least they went together.. Thought I would change my avatar to my Brucey boy, on the loo... hehehe (such a classic fella)
One of the more harder things the non-usc has to do I reckon.. I got a quote to take them to the US with me and their air tickets were going to cost more than ours, plus whatever the vet checks would of been, just couldn't stretch that far....
Meanwhile, ebay has been going crazy on my stuff, now that I have started listing up the 'big' things.. The house is going to start looking real empty soon, it already started to get echoey in the lounge room with all my books gone.
Only 3 weeks and 2 days til Mike and I are together again, after 10 months apart.

Don't worry Kaffykat, cats are more fickle than we like to believe. I have worked in RSPCA's and have seen enough of how soon they forget us. I'm sure they will be happy in their new home. I know I will feel a sense of loss leaving my Fluffy here with Mum and Aunty Mary. I am lucky to live there too with two other cats as well, so he will be fine. While I was in the US for 3 months last year, though, she said he just walked up to my room every day & let out a huge roar, like where is she?, and then walked out again. So maybe not so fickle. He wouldn't talk to me on the phone either when I was over there. Ah.....we'll get over it. Don't think I could bare putting him on a plane and all that stuff anyhow even if I could afford it. Andrew says I should get a new kitten when I arrive but well but I don't know, they wouldn't be Fluffy.
Poor Puddy and Kaffykat, I will go through something similar too when my day comes.

Oh yeah forgot my question. I know I have asked before and Kath said wait. I'm wondering if it is still too soon to get a police certificate from Sweden now we have our NOA2 and should probably hear from the embassy here soon'ish. Are you supposed to have something in that packet 3 to give the cops or something? I lived there for about 8 months in 1991.
I was wondering too, if anyone knows what happened to our Niphredil?
Thanks all,

Yeah guess I can wait a bit longer, I know your right. Just biting at the bit to get this ball rolling and also a little concerned I guess they may have trouble finding me in their Swedish system. False worries I guess cause I think they got the most efficient public and social service's in the world.
How's your shoulder Kath? There is something really nice having your man arranging all the wedding hoopla though isn't it. I ain't never been married before, so never will get to do any of that stuff as he is planning on us doing it all a soon as we can and seems to be really enjoying doing it all, even sending me pictures of dress's he likes. I do want to have him not see me the day before the wedding which will be difficult since we will be getting married in the back yard and I really have no where to go there to spruce myself up before.

hi karo,
i started a new job today with the local metro parks...the pay sucks but it's fulltime for 3 months. so it's ok until i get a "proper" job.
i had a meeting a couple of weeks ago with someone about a job that i'm the best suited for but he is only the point man for the company. he is going to organise a meeting for me with the bosses when they come in from detroit, so i'll see how that goes. don't want to let the cat out of the bag at the moment but when i find out i'll let you all know what happened and what it's about.

Matt.....congrats on the job....at least its keeping you out of mischief. Here's hoping the better suited job pays off for you.
Great to hear everyones plans are moving along nicely.
Question.......
I got my police certificate today and I have a concern. On filling out the form I included all my previous married names and my maiden name yet the certificate has only came back with my now married name listed. As I listed all my names and had fingerprints done they would presumably have done that inclusively of all my prior names as well as my present. Is it a problem that only my current name is listed on the certificate? How the hell is the embassy to know that I had check done with them using all names or is the fact it was fingerprints as well mean that all is ok?

Yeah I had made motel plans with his daughter but I don't think thats a goer now, just have to see. No I probably won't let him pick the dress cause it supposed to be bad luck isn't it? I do really like his taste in things though and it's nice to know he cares. Oh and Kath the cannal boat wedding sounds like such a lovely idea.
Karo if I wasn't so happy for you two, I'd be so jealous. Yes the pining for waking up together and all that domestic stuff is so difficult and something we all can relate too well.

Sorry you're not feeling well Stella

Thanks for the responses. I decided to send an email to the consulate to get there take on it as I got a couple of differing opinions in another thread.......here is the reply
They
sometimes do list all names you were known by, however, if your police check was done on the basis of a fingerprint check, it should suffice. If there are any questions about it, the consular officer will advise you so on the day of interview.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Visa Assistant
Immigrant Visa Unit
U.S. Consulate General
Sydney, Australia
I also called the fingerprint section of the police that does the certificates and was told that they only put the one name
I guess I am just going with the certificate I have and hope to gawd its ok lol I also have the receipt for the fingerprints so hopefully that helps if needed.
Kath,

Ooohh getting excited for you Lorelle.
Kath I'm afraid our wedding is going to be a very home made affair with not too many guests. Baked beans on the menu wouldn't surprise me either. I am supposed to be making him a shirt for the day but still have not bought the fabric. No one from my side coming (I made a joke about 'rent-a-crowd' for me but he thought I was serious. I really only have a couple of living relatives I'm close too and none of my friends could make it; both Andrews parents have passed on, so that leaves a couple of his friends, brother and family and Andrews kids. I'm sure I will be happier than ever anyhow even on our non existant budget. Love your invite thingy Kath. Very romantic.

I have just checked on my police certificate i got in September last year and it only has my old married name on it and my birth date I had no problems with it when i had my interview in December.
I do remember there being problems with how they are worded and i think from memory it has to state something aboutu fingerprints
this is exactly what mine said
Does not appear on the disclosable police history or fingerprint record of any Australian State or Territory police service
I can remember last year someone having problems with how it was worded im not sure if it was aussie@princess or becky but it is in the archives

Mine states...
this is to certify that there are no 'disclosable court outcomes' or outstanding matters recorded against the name and/or fingerprints of (My name) born on (birthdate), within the records of police services in australia.
I remember the problem you are referring to and I tracked that down again earlier. It was an issue with certificates being issued in SA as they werent connecting the fingerprints in the wording ....or something like that.

He has his kids on a joint one with the ex and can't get back on to his work one for himself, but they are way expensive any how. Really going to have to wait till I can work some too. Two questions anyone please. Do I only send back the DSL-1076 after I have my medical and police certificates in my hand??????
And in my instructions it only asks for police certificates for other countries you have lived in for more than 12 months. Can this be correct ????? I thought it was 6 months or more. I lived in Sweden for 9 months, 16 years ago. I do hope so, would save some money and mucking around.

Question re medical........can anyone tell me what they are going to actually do lol I have had a look but cant put my finger on any experiences. I have had my blood tests done to show immunity to MMR and then one for HIV. I get my tetanus shot now on monday as the nurse at the local medical center was called away. Yes I just couldn't believe my luck when I read the instuctions for the police certificates, saves that bit of mucking around and if Kath hadn't advised me to wait I would have sent off for it unnecessarily. Thanks again to all you guys here.
About the medical, well I guess the others can fill you in. I have mine booked in Sydney for Monday so I can tell you my experiences then. I believe you can leave your undies on, so thats something but I have read somewhere on here they do a breast exam, that does seem a bit extreme. I am sure they will find lots of lumps and bumps in mine.
When is your medical again Lorelle??
Guess the DSL-1076 is a K1 thingy. It's just a form to say you have all the documents they have asked for but it seems, on here, every one sends it straight back with the DS-230, the first one you send back, when it seems you can't have EVERYTHING they mention.

Lorelle..
When i had my medical done it was easy. he asked all the questions that are on the form you say yes or no to took my blood pressure which was like yours up slightly wasnt a problem. listened to my heart, measured my height, weight, i got on the bed and thought here comes the yucky part but all he did was feel my tummy said your fine. some more questions general chit chat.... one thing he did say was a big help as far as immunisations goes was that i went to my doctor and got a blood test done for chicken pox measeals mumps and tetnus and i took copies of these with me for him to see the results. when my gp gave me the tetnus injection i got this all in writing as well signed dated etc. one of the forms that the doctor signes is your immunisation one i asked him if i could have a copy of it incase the original got lost so i also have that with me now. After i had finished with the doctor he took me out to the nures for my blood test for hiv and cyphillas ( not sure if i spelt that right) the nures had to see my passport then sighn the paper to say yes i am who i say i am she took my blood. Then off to have my xray same thing had to see my passport sighn the paper to say yes it was me. About a week later the doctor posted my all the paper work i needed for my interview including the xray which had been put on to a disk so no big envelope to carry.. I made copies of everything he sent me

Hey Lorelle,....
I had my medical done in Darwin, but as far as I can gather the medicals are pretty much all the same, as the paperwork sent out to you is the same as everyone else is sent for a medical, and the doc has to complete all the required fields.
I had to bend over, touch my toes, showing flexibility basically, checks for scoliosis etc, and made me squat down and walk while squatting, it was to check something, god knows what, but Im sure it looks like a duck waddling....lol. Also had a basic eye test, blood pressure, height, weight, BMI. Not much to it at all really, was able to keep underwear on the whole time.
I didnt have any immunisation records to speak of, so I just grinned and beared it, and had a needle for tetanus, and had a MMR booster even though it wasnt really required for my age group, over 35 at the time...

. I had had blood tests done for the HIV etc, about a week before hand, but that was organised by the Medical centre handling my medical stuff, and had to be sent directly to them. I had asked previously, directly to the Sydney consulate, if I could of got that done through my own personal doctor, and just take the results with me to the medical, and I got a big FAT NO!. X-rays wernt a big deal either, but again, had to been organised by the Medical centre handling the medical itself, and again, were sent directly to them. I had to pay for the X-rays immediately. Stupidly there was a new girl doing the bloods, and she tried to bulk bill me through Medicare, she later came to realise that blood tests for immigration medicals couldnt be bulk billed and had to be paid by the person requiring them. They sent me a letter requesting payment, I vehemently refused to pay, because of their error, and someone at their end not doing their job properly. I think they just qwrote it off in the end, I never heard back from them,...lol.
Just dont forget the piccies required for the medical paperwork, when you go. I think it was 2 passport sized pics, that they attach to the front page, and half stamp the docs stamp over it.
Good luck, IM sure you'll be fine,..

Hi Everyone,
I haven't posted here for a long time but noticed that a few of you are about to have medicals etc., I wanted to let you all know that when you get you get your medical results back from the surgeon be sure to make a copy of your vaccination status. When you are through with the K1 process, married to the loves of your lives and want to do your ' Adjustment of Status' they require you to submit what they call a supplement form to I-693. I found out the hard way! Luckily i had kept all my Immunology reports and an immunisation summary my doctor had printed for me in Adelaide but I ended up having to pay $75USD to a civil surgeon here in the USA just to transfer it all to the correct piece of paper.
I hope that all made sense and I haven't confused anyone but thought it might be nice if you all knew ahead of time.
Goodluck to all of you. We have been very, very lucky with how quickly the process has been for us and without this wonderful website and the people on it I am sure it would have been a lot more difficult. I arrived here on the 3rd., February 2006, we were married on the 12th., the AOS was submitted in March and we had our interview for AOS last thursday 4th., May in Buffalo NY (over 4 hours drive for us!) but all worth it because I have now been approved as a permanent resident of the USA!!!!!!!!! No more immigration for us to deal with for 2 years now.
I hope all goes as well for all you other aussies out there. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, just try to stay positive and keep smiling. GOODLUCK from Susan

It wasnt a receptionsist either but the lady that took the blood.......she oughta know, right

hahahaha I will deal with it the same as you Jodie.....thats their tuff titties

But damm about the HIV test not being able to be done with own doctor....as I had that done too. There was nothing in the instructions telling me not to

Okay, sitting down and taking a breather....
Lorelle, with my medicals it cost $242 for the exam, around $90 for the xrays and $90 for the blood tests, plus I had a couple of jabs I needed to get, all up it was close to the $700 mark for my daughter and I, sheesh, plus my daughter just had to have a 2nd jab last week, which she wasn't impressed about.
There was no "icky" stuff done at the exam, just like what has been said, but there was a breast exam done on me, not on my daughter, thank god, as she is only 13.
And with that said, I wish to now say:
ONLY 1 WEEK UNTIL I LEAVE AUSTRALIA TO BE WITH MY BABY!!! that feels better......

Yeah Lorelle, no icky stuff at all. The medical was a breeze. No duck walking either (was that a joke?). I was getting really nervous. The hardest part for me was finding my way to the parking station. The city has changed so much since I used to live there, new tunnels everywhere. Then when I got to the doctors and realised I had lost my purse, no money, no credit card. They were very good about it and was a bit late by the time I got back. Found it under my car, back at the parking station. I guess they figured if I could run there and back in twenty minutes, I must be healhy enough. Was only there an hour, including x-rays and blood tests. Just had to pay $225 all up.
Boy KaffyKat what a wallop for your two medicals. So worth it though, soon in your baby's arms.
Stella.
Oh I just thought I'd add, no breast exam on me. Maybe he was a bit nervous, I do have rather large ones.

Oh Kaffy too, your Brucey Boy reminds me of our Butch. Though he looks a little more intelligent and stately even in that position. I am now starting to feel so sad leaving these 4 legged guys behind. Hope I haven't mad you feel too sad too about that.

Glad to hear you're doing ok.
Meefsgirl....Welcome aboard.......this thread is great for info and support related to OZ
Thanks for the extra info on the medicals everyone........I think I passed.......well I touched my toes ok without my back creaking too much
Medical was easy as

my blood pressure had even gone down by the time he checked it. And what a sweety the doc is. All up took about an hour. I arrived an hour early

eager beaver I was......so I was sent down to Fl 1 for xray...then Fl 2 for blood.....back to Fl 1 to pick up xray...then back to Fl 3 to the docs. Oh I had done a urine specimen prior the rides up and down in the elevator....lucky, or I would of had an accident lol bladder aint as strong as it used to be. Anyway, he asked me all the questions on the form, then we had a bit of a yak......I got changed into a gown (able to leave bra and knickers on.....yep I wore knickers today

) he told me to face with back to him and bend and touch my toes

couldnt I have done that in my clothes lol that gown was a little short. Had to then bend this way and that.....lucky for me there was no duck walking either. Took my height and weight...I told him if its ok I didnt want to look

Took my blood pressure which was great considering last week it was high. I had already told doc that it had been high so when it was normal told him it must be his bedside manner
The cost was suppose to be $225 but because I had results of blood tests including one for HIV that had done last week....I saved myself a little money so all up it cost $203 The ones I did have done prior didnt cost me anything. I'm waiting for the bill when they realise they shouldnt of said wasnt covered under medicare .....and then I will go

tuff titties.
Checked the results within my xray envelope and 'all clear'. They will mail it all out to me in a couple of days. Oh.......lol...
important If doing CR-1 and the embassy posts packet 4 to your spouse in the US and it dont arrive back to Oz in time for the medical....cant use copies hahahaha I tried. They had spares so all was cool

The receptionist was lovely too.
Cheers

Yeah the doctor is a real sweetie hey. Funny cause I said to him not to tell me what I weighed too. Ignorance is bliss. Glad all went well for you too. They did just ring though as they had forgotten to do my chicken pox, which I had as a child, so they still have my blood thank god so yet to get a bill for $20.
Glad you found your way Meefsie.
Had been wondering how the op was going Kath. Yeah ditto, glad to see your still with us and it went well.
I am in the process of selling my computer so am currently at the library. Won't be making quite so much noise around here for a while now.
So cheers all.
Stella.
