Heya Paul,
I'm looking at your timeline concerning when your case was recieved by NCV & the DS 3032 & Bill sent and can see it only took about two weeks for NVC to receive it (it took three weeks for ours) and then it took about three weeks since your case was received/case number given..guess that means I should at least wait till next Tuesday till I begin to be anxious yeah? What do you think?

Didn't you guys say that I need the NOA2 for the Adjustment of Status? I know that I do not need it for the Affidavit of Support because the Embassy told me that they didn't need it in that e-mail I posted a ways back. I am going to send the letter from the NVC stating that our petition was approved, but I am worried about getting that NOA2 for the AOS when Loke is home. Whats your opinion?

hey kath
i'm doing ok considering... i'm getting more and more impatient..... just want it all over lol....
i called Police HQ - they told me that they had sent my criminal history to me on wednesday.... so am hoping ot get it soon..
i also mailed back to the consulate the biometric or biographic data form (whatever that thing is called lol).....
i've filled in online the part I or part II of that other form - and printed it out (the one you have to sign in front of the consular officer at your interview).... and my fiance is mailing me his affidavit and bank statements etc - info on the mortgage of his house - value of it etc.... to give them more then enough info...
i've got my medical on tuesday - got all my vaccination boosts.... and the doctor at the medical centre did a letter on letterhead for them, and wrote down all the injections he gave me (he had a field day when he gave me all those boosts lol)....
so .... so far.... so good...
after reading all this if you think i've missed something from your own experience please say so.... oh and on the weekend i'm printing out the pics from my holiday with my fiance at kodak... more evidence.... and i'm getting more passport photos done for the medical - they told me they need 4.....

when you heading downunder mate...bet your counting lol..
Hi Kath,
Yes I am counting the days LOL! I fly back to Oz August 11th. This time though, I bring a plane load of friends and family.
There is still a lot left to do before the wedding. It sure is making time fly. I remember when 2 months before seeing Vy would seem like eternity. Now I am scared to run out of time before taking care of my wedding tasks.
Looking back on this, I guess I'm outside the norm for males in that I am actively involved in a good portion of the planning.

It's hard doing it from this side of the world but at the same time I can concentrate on things without getting bombarded from all directions like the poor wifey. I think I spend a good part of the time comforting her...and boy does it take a lot out of me.
On a different note:
WHO WANTS TIM-TAMS?I have way more than I can eat and in celebration of my NOA2 I'd like to mail it out a few packs to any transplanted Oz members that are craving these sinfully good snacks but can't get hold of them.
If any of you folks are interested, just PM the address you'd like me to send it to. Enjoy while supplies last!

I am currently waiting for my paperwork to be forwarded to NVC and planning ahead for next steps.
A couple of questions:
Does meowboy need to get his vaccinations taken care of BEFORE the medical appointment?
Does the police certificate/ affidavit of support/ employer letter/ vaccination stuff need to be taken care of after the embassy sends the packet, or can we start preparing this while we are waiting?
Thanks!
Kath
Jun 14 2007, 04:03 PM
hi ya meowgirl good to see ya
yeah go for it.. he can get blood tests by his local doctor to see what he is ammune to that will clarify what injections he will need...get him to get the tetnus jab just in case he doesnt know when he had that last...these blood test can be put on medicare...also he can get the syphillis and hiv test done at the local doc too...but make sure he gets the doc to print out the results for him to take to his medical so the medical examiner can enter these on the vaccination form...
the medical is dont my a U.S. approved doctor so go to the top of the screen click on embassey info and there in the australian embassey is all your doctors info...x rays are also done at the medical...police info is also in there..sorry i have forgotten which state your in at the mo to give you exact doctors ...also while where on the medical doc.. make sure he gets a complete copy of his medical because he will need his vaccination sheet when doing AOS...
good luck

I called the USCIS to figure out what is going on with our NOA2 and the lady said that our petition was still being processed and I told her "no it's not" and I explained to her that Loke already has packet 3 and that I need the NOA2 in order to adjust his status when he gets to the states.
I told her I knew our petition was approved because of the letter that I got from NVC saying they received the APPROVED I-129F and she said "that's odd" then they should have sent the notice. I said "YEAH" ... and then she asked if I filed an I-130
and I said yes and she checked that and she asked me if I had gotten a notice from them on that and I said "No" and she said "This is so weird" (note: this was the second lady I talked to because the first one didn't get it either and had to go get her boss)
She said that the decision for the I-130 was made on May 16th and that I should have gotten a notice of some kind and I said "Was it approved?" and she said "I can't tell you that"
I said "well someone tell me something.. send me a notice or something" and she asked why I even filed for the K3 and I said that I just want to be with my husband. She and I chatted about how the I-130 is a better visa and she gave me enough hints for me to know that our petition for the I-130 was likely approved.
She sent a request to have both notices sent out and told me that if I wanted to just be with Loke then I should continue the K3, but IF we are approved on our I-130 and we were willing to wait on it then it would be a better visa... I think we were but I think we should wait until I get the actual notices because she wouldn't tell me.
Do you think that it would be better to just wait for the I-130 if it is not going to require too much of a difference? I know it is a better visa and it is the one we really wanted to get, but he had his medical and everything scheduled. Can we actually get both? Can that happen?
Kath

hi ya rings
although i dont know much about the marriage visa's i have taken a look at the guidelines of both k3 and the CR1-IR1 route
i would way up your options mate..
if you persue the CR1/IR1 route loke can enter as a permanent resident.. you dont have to do the AOS he can work and doesnt need AP to travel back to oz if there is an emergency...
where as with the K3 you have to do your AOS and EAD and AP...
if you are dead sure from the way the operator was talking.. I would either keep hounding to find out what is going on about your I-130 or wait for notification in the mail...if the operator was going to update your files maybe it wont be long before you hear something from USCIS...
weigh everything up mate...i know you want to be together asap but think of the advantages also of not having to do the AOS and not having anything to do with USCIS for 2 years...i sound like im twisting your arm but im not mate ..if i was you i would wait ...whats say a month or so apart when u can have 2 years off from USCIS...just my two bobs worth mate...
hopefully someone else can give them some insight into it also rings and loke...good luck in what you choose to do guys...
take care

Hi Kath,
I actually want to go for the CR1 and always have, but we were really just willing to do anything to get him home. I am going to wait for the notices. I think I am going to call tomorrow again and the next day and bug the crap out of these people. Loke goes for medical on Aussie Monday (my Sunday) and I want him still to do that either way, but if the CR1 is a viable option, then I may spend some time convincing him to go that route.
If you happen to get the K3 visa, can you still get the I-130? I am wondering if we are approved and we do get the K3 and Loke does not fly in on the K3 right away and we wait for the CR1, if that is even possible. I have been hunting VJ all night for some sorta answer

So we're moving there at the end of next month..as if moving across continents wasn't enough...not I have to move cross country (California-->NYC) haha..but I'm excited and very proud of him. So...my question is..what do we do in terms of paperwork?? Do we have to change anything with anyone?? ie:our address... what happens with AOS now??? We are moving at the end of July, and are planning on doing the civil ceremony mid July. So what steps do we take? We're both a tad stressed out at the moment..the move itself is a bit daunting..so my head is in a bit of mess...trying to figure out what we need to do in terms of this process.I have my SSN already, if that makes any difference??? Hope you're all well.

CONGRATS! LOL you'll be pretty close to me in NJ. I am always in the city too and work across the hudson (on the Jersey side).
Rings, I would recommend highly to wait for the I-130 for several reasons...paperwork and financial consideration. The costs are very high. Also the it seems Aussies take about around 10 months to get I-130 processed. Vy and I decided that as much as we miss each other, it's worth the wait...even if it could take 12 months. It beats the days when it took around 3 years. We're pretty much at the NVC stage too and with James shortcuts it could be as quick as 2-3 months before being forwarded to Sydney.
When Loke comes with a CR-1/IR-1 he is a Permanent Resident...done deal. Ready to rock and roll. Of course, being apart and the cost of emotional hardship will trump logical decision making. It's a touch call that only each couple can decide. Good luck with any decision you two make. :-)

I called USCIS and talked to an immigration officer and asked if I can process the I-130 and they told me that I couldn't because the I-129F was already issed a visa number. They said that they only issue a certain number of visa numbers per year and that is why when someone is declined, the petition goes back to the NVC so the visa number can be reused.
She said that because our I-129F petition was approved 1st, then we will have to process that case and if we stopped it now then we would have to wait for the Embassy to send our petition back to NVC in order to change the visa number for the I-130. Because he already has packet 3 in hand, she does not think it is the wisest choice for us.
She also said that processing the I-130 would cost us $200.00 and more time apart whereas the I-129F would get him here sooner and the cost difference would not be extreme. She said that the cost to change status seems more inflated than it really is because they have consolidated the services together as opposed to filling out various forms separately with separate fees. The cost has only actually chaged by $300.00 or so and she said that it really would only save us approximately $100.00 and we would have to spend more time apart.
It actaully sorta makes sense I don't know

ok this is a important question...
on one of the papers that lists what requirements you need to give them - ie birth certificate, police check etc etc...
someone wrote on there - deed poll, -my first surname-, to the surname i am using now...
i dont understand what this means - what do they need? my birth certificate states clearly both - the one i had when i was borne and the one i am using now (i'm not using my dad's surname anymore...- long story) when they were changed - and to the one i am using now - its from the Births deaths and marriages registry where i changed it and they mailed me the new certificate...
so do i need anything else?....
if anyone cna answer this it would be great!!

G'Day Folks
My sweetie bear is here! He has been here a little over a week and it is going good. Seems like he was always here which is strange because he has never been to America or my place.
He helps me lots and lots and even brought me breakfast in bed this morning. A girl can get use to this for sure! I love him lots and lots and I am so happy that he is here with me!

Hi all,
it's been a while since I posted, life has been kind of hectic here lately.
Had my medical this morning. Poked and prodded and measured and weighed and answered a whole bunch of questions about illness, operations, my lifestyle and my family medical history. Got vampired (blood test) and x-rayed (twice, he didn't get my whole chest in the first one).
I wasn't done filling in the paperwork when he wanted to to the medical so he gave it back to me to complete after he had done the exam and I had a quick flick through looking at his notes...all the right boxes seemed to be ticked (or not ticked, in the places where you don't want ticks). At the end he noted "a nromal examination". So that seems to be good news as far as I can tell.
Have to go back this arvo because I didn't have my "baby nook" with me but he said if that looks okay when he sights it then I seem to have all the vaccinations I need (and I suspect a couple of others I didn't need too).
Congrats to everyone who seems to have things happening for them on the visa and job fronts, I have skimmed through but I don't have time to read properly because I have to head back out to the doctor before I go to work.
Sharyna - if you have a certificate stating that you changed the surname you use then I would suggest its a good idea to try to get a copy of it....if the certificate doesn't exist then you can't get it though, but I have been of the opinion all the way through this that if paperwork exists for something it's a good idea to have it, just in case.
Cheerio all and I hope you are all well and happy. Will be back later this week when the document-chasing process slows down a little.

I can't speak for your individual doctor because I went to see Dr Okraglik, but my feeling was that he seemed to want to okay me. He went through all the questions about medical history etc very quickly and I almost felt silly say 'no' so many times so quickly haha. He was fairly thorough with the physical side of things but I just made sure I co-operated with everything he wanted and he seemed satisfied. All the people I spoke to were pretty nice and helpful with any questions I had. It did feel at times that I was being rushed through the process, but I guess that can be the experience with any doctor you don't know personally.
I discovered a way to see the medical form after he had filled it out by mistake, and I'm not necessarily recommending you do this, but I turned up at 9am on the dot (traffic killed me on the way in) and so he was ready to see me before I had the name and visa details filled in at the top of the sheets. So we did the exam and then he gave me back the paperwork to finish filling in (so of course I had a quick peek at what he wrote). I also forgot to take my photos with me so they gave the form back to me AGAIN this afternoon when I returned with my photos. It was actually reassuring to see all the boxes ticked in my favour and the normal examination comment at the bottom.
Again, not recommending it as a course of action and it may not be the same with all cases but it was pretty easy for me to look at the forms after the exam.
Good luck with it all Sharyna, I am sure it will all go well. I was really quite nervous leading up to it as well but once you get in there it is pretty much just a case of following instructions and there's nothing too scary about it (unless you count having another man check your testicles for lumps as scary...but you'll escape that one luckily

)

I had thought that as a girl you'd escape that little unpleasantry, but Kath would know better than me about that.
It really was pretty impersonal though...I know I worried more than I needed to about the whole thing and I know it's pretty pointless trying to get you to worry less if you're anything like me, but the upside - if there is one - is that the whole thing is over in half an hour or so and it just flies by, things happened so fast that I didn't have time to think about one thing before it was on to the next thing.
You'll be okay.

Jun 18 2007, 05:13 AM
well i guess i better make sure i shave my legs then huh? rofl...
i think i'm glad i'm going alone to the medical....just me to be embaressed for lol...
i guess they need to be thorough.... Dr Waks is a guy right?... lol....
Loke
Jun 18 2007, 06:13 AM
lol, I have no idea if Dr Waks is guy or girl, but I'm sure if it's a him he'll be respectful of your modesty (actually I have no idea but I hope he will).
I'll spare a though for you in the morning while I nurse my bruised inner elbow from my blood test. She said she thought it might bruise and she was right. I liked my previous blood test a lot better than this one. 9 o'clock appointment?
sharyna
Jun 18 2007, 06:20 AM
yeah the receptionist told me i'd have to have another blood test.... i hate needles i really do lol!! nothing i like as far as you can see.
my appt is at 10.15am - calling in sick to work so i can go do this.
some people know how to take blood - others dont.... i hope whoever takes my blood doesnt leave a bruise.... :-)

Jun 18 2007, 10:06 AM
Kath - I didn't get anything except receipts from them yet but he has gone through all my vaccination records and it is all written there in the forms...due my my inadequately filled out baby vaccination book (damn those Pascoe Vale nurses in the 1970s! lol)I will need one more tetanus shot in september which he told me I can get in the States so it won't hinder my visa application but everything else is up to date. I don't pick up the results until next week though, and as I understand they will be sealed and I won't be able to see them until the interview.
Good luck with K Mart, it seems like you have been waiting forever to hear from them - I hope it comes soon for you.
Sharyna - I don't hate needles but after the last couple of months I think I have had enough to do me for a long time...still 2 due for tetanus and hep but at least those aren't for a few months. I'm sick of aching shoulders haha. You will be fine, I completely understand your dislike of the medical aspect but I am sure you will get through it okay.

hi sharyna
i was pretty shocked about it too thats why i mention it to others so they wont be.....was nothing to get embarassed about at least it aint as invasive as a pap smear mate over in 3 seconds.... good on ya for emailing the embassey best way to find out exactly what they are on about ... hope you dont bruise and your right there are some that dont know how to take blood....you will be fine ...good luck ..as the receptionist if you will be getting a copy of the medical if not request one...
hi loke
when you go in to pick up the results and they dont give you a copy ask for one..they should have a copy in their files to photo copy mate..
and yeah i feel as though i havent got a job lol...i would get your other shots in oz loke...at least you can put them on medicare ...i dont know what rings insurance is like and it might cost you over here...to give you an idea of what im talking about...i went in to the docs not cos i was sick but to register as a new patient...he examine me i took him a copy of my medical i just had in oz and he ordered blood work and a mamagram (which i was not impressed about) cos over here they start doing them at 40 unike oz they start at 50...
now robert has good insurance...for the docs it cost $175.00 insurance paid $70.45 we ended up having to pay out of our pockets $104.55...i was so shocked it cost that much just to go register as a new patient...then i went for like a full blood work done...the total included my mamagram which was $487.00 we had to pay $45.45...its quite a hard system to get use to robbie tried to explain it to me ..something to do with your insurance has a co-pay thing (deductible) that you have to pay ..robs is $150 a year when u reach that in a year you dont have to pay...so if rings has a good insurance get ya tetnus shot over here mate...but to save money i would get it before you come over...

I have no deductible, but I will have a co-pay and my insurance covers 80% for the most part, but you are right in that if he can get them in Aussie then he should because I do not have him on my insurance and will not be able to add him until he has a social security number.
If he gets those 3 shots here, I will probably be looking at $700.00 or so. Booo American medical

Cool - If you post a second time in a row, it just adds it to your first post... either that or I am drunk

Hi all,
Hope everyone is doing well. I am sooo sleepy I can barely keep my eyes open at work.
Wow! I can't believe both you ladies received them today! Enjoy! I figure I'd share the joy (and calories) hahaha. I thought there was no way the USPS would get them out since I sent them at the middle of the day from my local post office. Maybe I will send out my NVC docs the same way next time LOL! It's even closer to deliver to NH than it is to where you folks are hahaha.
I hope I get a case number assigned soon. I will call tomorrow morning and see if the automated system has updated itself with my case information. Woohoo!
Take care!

ok! just got home after having my medical...
Dr Waks is lovely!! he's very helpful and very informative - gives you the pros and cons on everything - but you need to ask questions - poor guy probably thought i'd never shut up....
the physical was good - he didnt do anything you know... personal - just poked and prodded - made you turn, bend, twist, flap yadda yadda....
makes you take a urine sample - for sugar and protein levels (if you dont do the urine sample before ie for syphillis test) you may have to do that one too..
but i did all mine weeks ago...
vaccination - he told me he wanted to give me the MMR vaccination - just in case - because the consulate can be picky....
did my chest xray - walked up the hill in the rain... thank god for down hill return!...
all up medical was $270 - and no i cant claim that on medicare or anything....
and he was mailing it all off to the consulate today (since i didnt need blood tests).... he said they would have it by end of week...
so now all i'm waiting on is my fiance - he posted all his affadavit stuff to me today with financial support docs.... mortgage on house, how much owing, value of property yadda yadda...
so yeah thats me.........
now i'm so tired!!

Congrats Sharyna on getting through your medical - I knew you would be fine, but I know how easy it is to get nervous beforehand....but it's over now and hopefully we both get interviews soon.
Kath - you've gone through all this work and made it over the pond - don't kill yourself driving mate! I only drove a little while I was there but it does take over all your concentration...I'm not sure if its worse than learning to drive for the first time or not. Instinct takes over with the mechanics of the car but you have to un-learn a lot of things that have become habit and re-adjust.
Look at what the vampire did to me in my medical the other day...
