Hi Jess and Patricia attached is the Medical Forms in pdf form.

I hope this helps .. use only as a guide only.. whistling.gif

Also here is the South Australian Police link
for your National Police Clearance as well as fingerprints.
Make sure when you go in to have Cash take around $150.00 to be safe.
They don't do eftpos or direct debit.
Also when doing the paperwork,
mention to the Officer doing it say i is for a Visa.

Q: Do I need to have my fingerprints taken to get a NPC?

A:No, SAPOL checks identifying data and this is normally sufficient.
You may however have special requirements such as a
visa for overseas travel, employment or immigration,
or your employer or regulatory body requires absolute identity checking.
A NPC with fingerprints requires an additional charge
not subject to any concessions (see Fees below) .

Fingerprints and history check: $140.00

You must ensure your fingerprint form is firmly attached
to the NPC application form.
SAPOL is unable to advise on visa requirements
and will need to verify the requirements yourself.

Q: Do I need a NPC for my visa application?

A:SAPOL is unable to advise on visa or overseas travel requirements.
Please check your visa requirements carefully
as you may require a NPC prepared by
the Australian Federal Police and you may also
require fingerprints to be taken.

Q: How can I collect my NPC?

A:You may request that the NPC is collected from any police station,
mailed to your postal address or mailed to a third party.
(I would pick it up. just get them to call you on your best contact number.)

You must provide suitable identification at the time of collection.
Having a NPC posted to you is undertaken at your own risk.
SAPOL holds no responsibility for any loss or unauthorised access which may occur.
You need to indicate on the form whether
the NPC is to be sent to your postal or residential address.

You may collect the NPC from Adelaide Police Station if it is urgently required.

Someone else may collect a NPC for you,
if you have signed a letter of authority or completed the third party
collection section on the form.
You are required to identify the person collecting your NPC
on the application form, or you must provide them with a letter of authority.
To ensure the security and privacy of your information,
applicants are unable to vary to collection method
after the form has been submitted.

For more details about NPCs and how to apply,
refer to the NPC frequently asked questions or contact the Records Release Unit.

Hi All good.gif

I am flying into LAX from Sydney - Taipei China,

With China Airlines, arriving in LAX @ 7.35PM Wednesday 9th May

then a connecting flight to,

Cleveland then to Providence Rhode Island.

via Continental, departing LAX @11.15pm

Arriving Finally @ 9.17am Thursday 10th May
AND SEE MY CHERYL AGAIN heart.gif

BASICALLY I HAVE JUST OVER 3 + 1/2 HOURS

BETWEEN CONNECTING FLIGHTS

TO GET FROM IMMIGRATION (POE)
TO CONTINENTAL DESK CHECK IN,
WITH 3 BAGS blink.gif IN TOW unsure.gif .
AND FIND SOMEWHERE TO HAVE A SMOKE OR 5 helpsmilie.gif

My Question is has anyone had a POE through LAX?

I am going through on my CR1 VISA luv.gif

And how far is the Continental Check in for Domestic Airlines,

from Where I fly into LAX with China Airlines? unsure.gif

Any help would be muchly appreciated thanks. kicking.gif

P.S CAN YOU SMOKE IN TAIPEI AIRPORT? ANYONE??? huh.gif unsure.gif

Hi Paul smile.gif

my POE will be LAX in July, it'll be good times I'm sure. LAX is ALWAYS busy so expect long lines... (you might be pleasantly surprised though wink.gif )

This link has an interactive terminal that may help you figure out your route from point A to point B.

http://www.iflylax.com/lax_map0.html

Oh, I tried to pull up the 'original' interactive map but for some reason it wouldn't come up... you might have more luck, so heres the link...

http://www.lawa.org/lax/terminalMap.cfm
http://www.lawa.org/

Some people I know say that LAX is the "worst airport ever" but I don't share that view. Its a little tricky to navigate but just follow the signs. When I was there I asked a friendly attendant for directions and he pointed me in the right direction, which was lucky since my connecting flight had a last minute terminal change! But it was all fine and I had good experiences. I saw some guy get a lift on one of those airport buggies... maybe you could try flagging one of those down if you find yourself strapped for time? wink.gif

I can't comment on the immigration side of things since I've only gone through on a Visa Waiver and I came in through SFO but I left via LAX and had internal flights in and out of LAX (Delta).

EDIT: Oh, one last thing that I remembered... advice from my aunt. Don't accidently leave the terminal (walk outside) and expect to be allowed to come back in again between connecting flights. My Aunt got herself into a pickle in LAX because she went out the wrong door by accident. Maybe this is what fueled her "worst airport ever" comment? wink.gif So be careful when you're looking for that smoking location biggrin.gif
Moonie
I hated having a connecting flight throught LAX with 3 hours it should be enough. But the poster abover is right. Long lines and disinterested staff will drive you batty after being on a plane for 14 hours. I told my fiance to make sure he has plenty of time between his connecting flight once arriving in LAX. I didn't and I missed my flight. mad.gif But the time I got to the gate after running it was taking off. mad.gif

Good luck on your trip Hampster. I can't wait till I have an actual date till I see my sweetheart. It will be a year 5/7/07 cray5ol.gif ClockWatch2.gif

Hi Patricia! Nice to see another K-1er!

Where abouts in Australia are you based and where will you be living you get to the US?
I'm at the 'waiting for my interview in Sydney' stage of the process.

Hi Jess!

I'm based in Adelaide & will be moving to Columbia, Missouri (Zach will be attending MU). How about you? (Sorry if you've already answered this question, I'm still catching up on old posts).

Thanks to both you & Paul for all the resources. Zach has been very helpful and putting everything together. All I've done so far is fill out my Biographical Information form & trying to search for my original birth certificate (I was born in the Philippines & was adopted at the age of 10 so I essentially have 2 BC's). The woman helping us out said to find it "just in case" - I didn't think it was possible to lose one's BC, but apparently one could!

I'm taking advantage of the ANZAC Day public holiday to sort my stuff out and I'm aiming to get things sent off by Thursday. Wish me luck! Though it shouldn't be too hard since the only thing I really need to send to Zach is my Bio Form and photos.

Now, I do have a question...when I get everything "notarized", I just need a Justice of the Peace, right? Please say "Yes" biggrin.gif

Okay, off to get some Zzzzzzzzzzzz's for tomorrow is yet another day to discuss visa stuff (lately, it's all Zach & I chat about). I can't wait for him to come back to Australia in June - then we can go through this together, in the same country, in the same time zone, in the same room!

Thanks for all your help again, much appreciated!

kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif K-1 VISA INTERVIEW DATE ISSUED!!!! kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif

Guys, this was lightning fast!

-I sent off my letter on Thursday 19th of April
-They sent my letter Friday 20th of April
-I received the letter today, 24th of April
-Interview date 4th of MAY! I can't believe it, my interview is next Friday!

I'm just a little excited... excited and afraid. It was a lot quicker than expected, I thought I'd receive notification after a month or so, and then the interview a few weeks after that. Nope, visa process always surprising. biggrin.gif

Yippeee!

EDIT: I have to say, my baby is ASLEEP! I want so badly to call him up so we can jump up and down in excitement together. LOL, I'm a silly person. whistling.gif

Thanks Kath! I'm still so excited!

I'm dying to wake him up but I won't cos I only said goodnight on the phone to him less than 3 hours ago, and he's a tough Navy man who has to wake up long before the sun rises. My baby needs his beauty sleep LOL. I will SMS him later so he can find out before he goes to work though biggrin.gif kicking.gif

I reckon I'm ready for it Kath, almost. I've still got to make final touches and I have to receive his notorized tax still, but that was put in the mail last week and I'm expecting it any day now.

I had a card to post this afternoon so I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone and pay the $130 and get my 3kg express post sachel at the same time so... thats done!

Yipeee!

A little joke...

Is it just me, or is the US consulate kind of like the soup nazi from seinfeld... think about it... You have to have everything prepared in exactly the correct order, laid out correctly, no folders or plastic sleeves... you approach when called on, you hand it over and wait for further instructions...

If its done wrong, or you follow the procedure incorrectly.... NO VISA FOR YOU!

wink.gif I know its not really like that, but it kind of amuses me anyway to think of it like that. wink.gif
Kath
thats great ya nearly ready and i hope ya get the info you need in time mate ...
and good on ya for doing the receipt and package...

ya know what i didnt like about the interview..
we had to travel up to sydney ...ours was on the friday..we stayed the weekend
i still had packing to do so it wasted 5 days of packing time for a 5 minute interview which took an hour an half to get...

i just wish they would look at what people have to do to get visa's and not make them travel interstate for them...
ok vent over. lol

I haven't worked out how to do my time line yet, but I am from Australia, arrived in the USA in february, married in march and am now getting together my things for the AOS. It's scary to me because I hope to have everything, there were things I thought I didn't need to keep so i'm stressing a little. It's good to find the aussie forum here for when I get home sick.

Thanks Kath! Thanks Paul!

I SMS'd Tony and he's so excited biggrin.gif It doesn't change the time I'm leaving Australia but it does mean a whole lot of stress will be over and I can book my flight with total confidence etc etc. *fingers crossed* Only 10 more sleeps.

Having to come to Sydney is such an added hurdle for you non-Sydney people, it really sucks and I can't believe you have to do it! sad.gif I live an hour (2 hours by public transport) north of the city... I promise I won't complain about the commute into the city guys biggrin.gif Still, I guess they figure if you're willing to move to the other side of the planet, then whats the big deal about travelling interstate? biggrin.gif Oh well, I'll be cheeky and say to you guys that Sydney is the greatest city in Australia and I hope you guys make/made time to enjoy it tongue.gif hahaha sorry, I know, I can't resist thought wink.gif

Hi Winterr, nice to see ya smile.gif I hope you figure out your NOA2 troubles soon.

No we haven't heard anything. We only just sent our checklist off probably last week. I emailed the consulate and asked if they received our paperwork but haven't received the checklist. But once the checklist comes in, we will get an interview within a month's time.

I'm not too worried about the visa at the moment(Oh my! I bet I'm the only one not worried about it! haha) The end of my semester is almost here and I've had sooooooooo much work/projects/examinations to worry about, I just don't have enough worry in me to worry about the visa as well. I've been staying up till 4am to do schoolwork! Insane, I tell ya.

How have you been?

Hey All, can you believe it's 'blipping' snowing here...so where's spring in CO??? lol

Thanks to everyone for all your kind thoughts....well I am finally able to get on here, we just got the internet connected at our new apartment this morning. Missed you guys! Was weird to go through the journey and not be able to get on here and talk to you.... so lots of hugs.

Well the trip was long long long....Bangkok was a bit freaky had double security checks and they got antzy about me carrying aspirin (Hammy the airports I saw including Bangkok had little smoking rooms in the airport lounges)

I got my Temp EAD stamp at JFK YAY!!! can you believe it is a tiny little red stamp that they put on the back of the I-94. I spent about 40mins in Immigration at JFK but there where a few families migrating. They went my packet and then asked me a few questions and then that was it.

Being together with Jake makes it all worth it, endless amounts of cuddles and being able to talk anytime time and for as long as we want.

My trip all up going via JFK to get the EAD took 41hours (it was a 2 pkts of twisties and 2 cadbury 100g hazelnut choc trip lmao)so I arrived with jet lag then when I got to CO Springs I forgot about the altitude sickness so have been suffering with that pretty badly...it's kinda like having a really bad hangover for days...although today I am feeling much better so i must be starting to adjust.

For those about to crossover it is the most scarey and wonderful experience all at once. Leaving family, not having a car or job does stress you out a bit but being with your loved one is the best! I had my first driving experience on the weekend thought it would be easy except I forgot that you have to handle the gear changes on the opp side as well...I was unco...so for now we are driving around the parking lot until i get it together enough to be safe on the road! lol Oh and we are getting married on Friday, just going to the local court house then out for dinner after.

Welcome to all the newbies in here....being a K1er that just crossed over, if you have any questions let me know am happy to help.

I haven't mentioned this one in a long time, but for those long-haul flights, you can't beat New Zealand's own No Jet Lag Tablets!

ANZAC day is here again everyone...

I invite you to join me in remembering and honouring the ANZACs by taking some time today to think about the toll of war past and present and to hope (or pray if you so choose) that we might one day live on an earth where there doesn't need to be any war at all. innocent.gif

"Ode of Remembrance"

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Lest We Forget
Kath
bows my head for a minutes silence and thinks of my father who was in world war II my husband who was in the Vietnam War and hopes to the heavens that my nephew comes home safe..
May all our Aussie/American soldiers come home safe to their loved ones..

Kath- Kev sent off for his interview I think thurs or Friday last week so we will see how that goes. His medical appointment is on 5/1 so I am kind of hoping it isn't as soon as Jezz.

We have decided for a beach wedding in South Padre Texas which is just a 5 hour drive from where I live. Depending on when he gets here i am thinking a July wedding... real small an intimate.

lol we both are not big into wedding planning. I wanted to elope but I think it would be a big selfish, I am my mother's only child she should see her child get married.

I am just glad I have a new job and it is going ok. I like it and I am starting to feel more comfortable. I am also working part time to save up some money.

Hi All good.gif

Kath I checked Continental's Checked Luggage Limit and it is as follows

http://www.continental.com/web/en-US/conte...gage/check.aspx

prescriptions and keys with you on board the aircraft.

at least 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure.

For international flights, baggage must be checked at least 60 minutes
prior to scheduled departure.

more than 4 hours prior to scheduled flight departure.

Your baggage will only be checked to your final destination.

Your name and address must be on the outside of your baggage.
Nametags are available at all airport baggage check-in locations.
We also recommend that you place your name and address
on the inside of the bag.

Please claim your baggage immediately upon arrival.

I hope this helps other VJERS going through with Continental Airlines
It is a guide for how much yo can actually bring in weight wise.

Thanks everybody!!!

Moonie, I hope your SO's interview isn't as soon as mine too, it was a HUGE shock to get it processed so soon since other timelines have shown weeks between sending the letter and a response. I wonder whether the fact that I live in Sydney had anything to do with it being so quick? I guess when you guys get your interview date we'll find out. Don't worry too much about it, you can always change your date if you have to (my letter has an ACTUAL PHONE NUMBER on it... I'm too chicken to call it though)

Elle, Yup, the Affidavit of support, I'm pretty sure it still needs to be notorized along with the supporting documentation. Can anyone else shed light on this though? I've got everything here already only thing is, the tax stuff he sent isn't notorized. He has since got another copy of that notorized and it should get here in the mail any day now. If worst comes to worst and it somehow gets lost in the mail and doesn't get here in time, I'll just take the un-notorized version of the tax and if they want the notorized version they can pause the process until I can send it to them. Still, I have no doubt that it'll get here in time. I'm not worried.

A word on the digital DS-156 form and leaving spaces blank as opposed to writing NONE.

You should DEFINATELY write NONE. I went back and did the form online again as suggested by Kath and this is what happened...
On the last page I now have the following written...

"FILTERED NAMES
When 'NONE' or 'NA' are entered into any of the following fields: 'Other Surnames Used', 'Other First and Middle Names Used', and 'National Identification Number', the text will be removed by the EVAF software from the data in the 2D barcode. If the applicant's name actually is None or NA the post must enter the name manually into the NIV or RDS. The following fields have been removed:

-'NONE' was removed from the 2D barcode for Item 8 (Other Surnames Used)
-'NONE' was removed from the 2D barcode for Item 9 (Other First and Middle Names Used)
-'NONE' was removed from the 2D barcode for Item 14 (National Identification Number)"

Interesting huh? Glad I went back and redid it!
Elle
hi jess...from wenchie's thread : Date: May 3 2006

2. Summary. Effective immediately, sponsors filing an I-864
are required to submit only their Federal tax return for their
most recent tax year, current as of the date of execution of the
I-864. The I-864 will remain valid indefinitely absent other
evidence of failure to meet the public charge provisions of the
law and should be evaluated based on the poverty guidelines in
effect on the date of filing with NVC or with post. [NOTE:
Reftel had indicated that poverty guidelines in effect as of the
date of signing would apply. Instead, posts are to consider the
guidelines in effect as of the date the I-864 is submitted.]
Updated tax returns should not be requested absent positive
evidence of public charge issues. The sponsor signature on Form
I-864 does not need to be notarized
since the sponsor is signing
under penalty of perjury.

Sound like you have all the info anyways and you sound prepared. It never hurts to get anything notorized tho. I certified everything even though it wasnt required. Just noted you wouldnt need it just in case it was going to cause a delay.

jezz85
Hi Elle!

Thank you so much for following up this info for me! However, I just realised that we're "singing from different song sheets" on this one smile.gif

You went through the K-3 Process with the I-864 and I'm going through the K-1 Process with the I-134. Different forms, different rules it seems. I doubled checked it when I realised that. On page 2 of the Information Sheet DS-2000 (enclosed with my I-134 in package 3) it says...

To substantiate the information regarding income and resources the sponsor should attach two or more of the following items to the affidavit:
1. Notarized copies of his or her latest federal income tax return;
2. A statement from his or her employer showing salary and the length and permanency of employment;
3. ....
4. ....

I'm too lazy to write out 3 and 4... but I've got 1 and 2... #1 is still on its way in the mail...

I really appreciate the help anyway Elle smile.gif Just goes to show that this visa process is a tricky process indeed!

Cheers,

Jess

I have another question for you guys regarding the interview...

My instructions letter in packet 3 seems to state that I'd need photocopies of ALL documents except for photos. The follow-up letter with my interview letter makes mention of only photocopies of birth cert, divorce/death cert, police cert, court and military records.

Did you take along photocopies of everything else for example passports, medical records, forms etc? If so, did you include it in the bundle or did you keep it in your bag for just in case?

I'm assuming that you keep your evidence of relationship until interviewed at the next window.

I'm also assuming that the silly x-ray has served its purpose and doesn't need to accompany you to the interview.

I'm also assuming that you attached your two passport photographs to the DS-156's prior to the interview.

I know these questions are stupid, but I'm hopeless and if I don't ask them I will stupidly worry unsure.gif blush.gif
Thank you thank you thank you.
Tamzo27
Hey Jezz,

You need all ORIGINALS of documents...not photocopies for the interview.Make sure everything is in order...they're very strict about that..You need photocopies of birth certificate...I took my original police certificate.

They didn't check all the additional info I put together (additional photos, emails/chat transcripts etc etc) but it's better to have more than less..and be safer than sorry, as most would agree. You don't need your X-ray with you, but need your medical results. You do however, need to take your X-RAY with you to the U.S..and carry it in your hand luggage incase they ask for it..but you don't need to take it to the interview.

Hope it goes very smoothy, and let me know if you have further questions or are unsure about anything- I had my interview 2 wks ago, so things are still fresh in my mind and I'm happy to help! Good luck!!

Now a question for everyone- does anyone know how long one has to be in the U.S on a k1? ie: when can I leave the country for a vacation??? thanks!!

Hi Tamzo!

I'm embarassed cos I didn't make myself clear... I meant photocopies in addition to all my originals biggrin.gif So tamzo, did you have photocopies along with the originals of everything or just only photocopies of birth cert, divorce/death cert, police cert, court and military records? (where applicable)?

And I think I can help you out on that question of yours... The answer is, you can't leave the country until your AOS is fully processed and you've got your 'green card' in your hand. UNLESS you apply for AP (Advance Parole) and of course pay the $$$. By all accounts getting AP is pretty straight forward.

Hi Jezz,
don't be sorry- this whole process is sooooo confusing at times! I only had photocopies of my birth certificate, other things weren't applicable- so to answer your question..originals of everything (ie:boarding passes, affidavit of support, emails, photos, chat transcripts- all originals) but birth certificate and other things = photocopies

Thanks for answering my question! Hope I helped!

Hi Jess and Tam..

When I had my CR1 Interview I had photocopied EVERYTHING.

Marraige Certificate,+ Copy

Birth Certificate, + Copy

Police Check as well as Fingerprints. + Copy of both.

Chest Xray report + Copy
Medical

Remember TO SCAN both sides of documents,
as more often than most there is a bar code on back of documents.

I made my copies on my color scanner / printer so it was copied,
in the same precise color as the original ones.
I scan front and back of documents,
then print it off front first.
Then put the printed one back in the printer paper feed,
so when copying the back of the document you just printed,
prints the rear of the document
on the back of the front you just printed. blink.gif
And then just repeat the process for each document.

In Sydney they like each document to be.

Original then Copy and so on.

Do not under any circumstances Staple the documents together unsure.gif

When I had my CR1 Interview they took all my documents,
then returned all my originals so they kept the copies.

Cheers

Paul good.gif

jezz85
Thanks paul!

Did you give them photocopies of your passport and your forms as well?

As for stapling things together... I won't staple my photocopies to my originals but... you don't mean don't staple your three page forms together do you?

Checked BaggageEconomy Class Free Baggage Acceptance[list]
[*]2 Checked Bags: Maximum 50 lbs (23 kg) and 62 linear inches (157 cm)

Hey Paul and Kath, just wanted to add a comment about the Continental baggage limits, etc having just flown with them. Although you get to take 2 suitcases 32kg on international flights...yeah i got a shock when i checked in with continental to fly to CO and found out the limit was 23kgs per suitcase. Anyway, i had to pay for the extra weight but it wasn't too bad. They charge $25 USD per suitcase. I think it was worth it to be able to bring so much stuff with me.

Thanks again everyone for your kind thoughts...I can only say that I am so so happy to be in the USA with my hunny! Hey it's great to see so many newbies in here too!!! Would be nice to get a list going of aussies leaving for the USA and approx when so we can keep track now there is so many of us.

Well, I got my vegimite that my work gave me in my farewell present confiscated at customs... mad.gif apparently it was too big so I bought a tube duty free just before I left..mind you getting decent bread to spread it on is proving difficult. Have been eating sourdough i think that's the closest to aussie bread.

Well...I guess I will be on here quite a bit for awhile...my body clock is so out of wack. wacko.gif

Good luck with starting work tomorrow Kath....I think you will have a great time! star_smile.gif

Well I better go and get this wedding organised.... biggrin.gif

Take care

On the i-134 I have I don't see where it says tax return has to be notorized unless that is on the letter he received in the packet he received. huh.gif

I just see that it asks for a bank letter verifiying when account opened and amount deposited, letter from job and salary paid and if self employed a copy of last tax returned filed. I only see that the affidavit needs to be notorized. I guess I need to ask my fiance. I filed online so everything is electronic you can print it out of course but not really sure why it needs to be notorized. I suppose I could print it out again and do that.
