hehehe more recipes!!

You guys are a busy bunch. If I wasn't so busy, I'd totally read everything. I've been skimming the past few days.
My fiance loves the chocolate hot cross buns.. so I will have to keep that recipe for later!!
Thanks hampster

Things are going well I think? We've both been so busy, that we have barely had anytime to talk the past week 1/2! Craziness, I swear.

Hopefully it slows down so we can get these loose ends tied back up.

Hope everyone is doing well, and visa cases are going through smoothly biggrin.gif

Glad you liked the Hot X Buns recipe whistling.gif

Here's something for winter time... blush.gif

Inspired by the famous hot chocolate of New York's City Bakery,
so intense it's served in shots.
You'll need to begin this recipe the day before.

Heart-stopping hot chocolate with chocolate marshmallows blink.gif

Serves 6

320ml milk
320ml pouring cream
300g dark chocolate (64 percent cocoa solids), finely chopped
chocolate liqueur, to serve
Dutch-process cocoa, to serve

Chocolate marshmallows
20g powdered gelatine
330g (2 cups) white sugar
100ml (2/3 cup) corn syrup (see note)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
50g Dutch-process cocoa
120g (¾ cup) pure icing sugar
70g (¼ cup) cornflour

Method
1. For marshmallows, place gelatine in the bowl
of an electric mixer fitted with a whisk attachment,
add 1/3 cup cold water and stand for 10 minutes.
Combine sugar, corn syrup and 1/3 cup water in a saucepan
and stir over medium-high heat until sugar dissolves.
Bring to the boil and cook without stirring
until mixture reaches 121°C on a sugar thermometer.
With the mixer on low speed,
add syrup in a thin steady stream and whisk until combined.
Scrape down sides of bowl,
add vanilla, increase speed to high and whisk for 8-10 minutes
or until thick, white and fluffy.
Sieve over 20g cocoa,
whisk and transfer mixture to a baking paper-lined,
lightly-oiled 17cm-square cake pan,
smoothing top and stand overnight.
Turn onto a lightly-oiled cutting board and cut into squares.
Sieve together icing sugar, cornflour and remaining cocoa,
then roll marshmallows in cocoa mixture to coat.
Marshmallows will keep for up to a week in an airtight container.

2. Combine milk and cream in a heavy-base saucepan
and bring to a simmer over low heat.
Add chocolate and stir continuously until melted and smooth.
Divide among heatproof cups,
add liqueur to taste, scatter with cocoa and serve with marshmallows.

Note: Corn syrup is available from health food stores and supermarkets.

Yummo

Enjoy

Cheers

Paul

OOPS I forgot I found this Recipe...

Hands up who remembers the Chocolate Wagon Wheels whistling.gif unsure.gif

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm kicking.gif

Chocolate marshmallow wheels

You can never have too much fluffy,
soft marshmallow in a Wagon Wheel.
This rendition lets you go crazy.

Makes 8

250 gm (1 2/3 cups) plain flour
100 gm icing sugar
125 gm cold unsalted butter, coarsely chopped
1 egg yolk
½ tsp vanilla extract
160 gm (½ cup) raspberry jam
500 gm dark chocolate (45 percent cocoa solids), melted
Marshmallow
250 gm white sugar
2 tsp liquid glucose (see note)
1 tbsp powdered gelatine
1 eggwhite

Method
1
. Preheat oven to 180C. Process flour,
icing sugar and a pinch of salt in a food processor until well combined,
then add butter and process until mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs.
Add egg yolk and vanilla and process until mixture just comes together,
then form into a disc, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.

2. Roll dough out on a lightly floured surface to 5mm-thick.
Using a 9cm-round cutter,
cut out 16 rounds and place on a baking paper-lined oven tray.
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden, cool on a wire rack.

3. For marshmallow, combine sugar, glucose and 100ml water
in a heavy-based saucepan and stir over low heat until sugar dissolves.
Bring to the boil without stirring and cook
until syrup reaches hard ball stage (121C-250f on a sugar thermometer).
Sprinkle gelatine over 100ml water in a heat-proof bowl
and stand for 10 minutes,
place bowl over a saucepan of simmering water
and stir until gelatine dissolves.
Add gelatine to sugar syrup, taking care as mixture will spit.
Using an electric mixer, beat eggwhite to stiff peak,
then, with motor running, gradually pour syrup
down side of bowl in a thin, steady stream.
Whisk until mixture is thick and holds its shape.

4. Spread marshmallow over the base of half the biscuits
and spread raspberry jam over the base of remaining biscuits.
Sandwich biscuit halves together and stand until set.
Using forks dip biscuits in melted chocolate
to completely coat and place on a wire rack to cool.
Refrigerate biscuits in an airtight container for up to four days.

Note Liquid glucose is available from supermarkets and health-food stores.

Yummooohhh

1969
Black forest cake

Serves 8-10

300g dark chocolate (63 percent cocoa solids), coarsely chopped
1½ tablespoons kirsch
155g unsalted butter, softened
250g caster sugar
6 eggs
55g dried breadcrumbs
250g almond meal
300ml thickened cream
2 tablespoons icing sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
300gm canned pitted sour (morello) cherries,
drained chocolate curls, to serve

Method
1
. Combine 130g chocolate,
kirsch and 2 tablespoons water in a small bowl
and place over a saucepan of simmering water for 5 minutes
or until chocolate is melted, then stir until smooth.
Set aside.

2. Beat butter and sugar together in an electric mixer
for 5 minutes or until pale and creamy, add eggs one at a time,
allowing each to be incorporated before adding the next,
and beat until combined. Add chocolate mixture, mix to combine,
then fold through breadcrumbs and almond meal.
Spoon into a baking paper-lined 20cm round cake pan
and bake at 180C/ 356F for 50 minutes
or until a skewer inserted into the centre withdraws clean.
Cool on a wire rack, then halve cake horizontally.

3. Combine thickened cream, icing sugar and vanilla extract
in a bowl and whisk until soft peaks form.
Place base of cake on a serving plate and spread with half the cream,
top with cherries, then cover cherries with remaining cream
and place top layer of cake over cream.

4. Melt remaining chocolate over simmering water
and spoon over cake, scatter with chocolate curls and serve immediately.

ENJOY

Paul

Touched is when the date changes but the status may be the same (Pending). Mine has been touched (date changed) once on Feb 27th (recieved on Feb 22nd) and has stayed that way since. I am hoping the next time it's touched, it will be an approval.

that's odd because on the bottom of my I-130 case, the date says U.S. CIS - 04-04-2007 02:03 PM EDT - Page 1, but the Last Updated still says 02/23/07. Does that mean anything? Gosh I just wish I wasn't such a worrier sometimes lol.

We are ALL worriers I think! That's what brought us here. biggrin.gif

The bottom is the current date (todays date aka free clock hehe). The Last Updated is what gets modified (touched).

I am feeling so excited and overly dramatic today lol so I hope that you will take pity on me. When I receive the NOA2 I would then do the Affidavit of Support right? I have all of my documents for it, but I am just trying to make sure I am on top of all of the steps. Poor Loke has been getting his shots and stuff and I want to make sure that I am doing everything I can do to prepare for each step too. Does the NOA2 mean that you are actually approved?
Kath
hi ya rings

goodness me rings its an exciting time for ya mate...everyone goes through this kind of excitement i can still remember all my approvals and being touched lol
take a look at this link..i printed this one out and wrote the date next to each step..

Question???

My fiance got his medical appointment for 4/26 he wonders if it is ok to go head and send off for an interview date. Would that be ok?

: unsure.gif
Moonie
For some reason tonight I feel very unsure about the rest of the process I think because a majority of it is in his hands. I am not sure I did the i-324 right. He has just moved so not sure he will even get the documents he needs. Unsure about this medical process and when the interview would be set and I look around and I see people going about it a 100 different ways. unsure.gif sad.gif dead.gif

Oh this sucks.

Kath
hi ya moonie

i just had a look at girlfromoz's timeline which is a K1 journey..take a look at this

Packet 3 Received : 2006-12-19
Packet 3 Sent : 2006-12-20
Packet 4 Received : 2007-01-11
Interview Date : 2007-02-02

i would wait with the easter break coming up...
girlfromoz was with christmas holidays taken by the embassey..took her 21 days to receive her packet 4 with the interview date...
hope that gave you some idea moonie...i know how you must feel about your fiance having control of this part of the process but have some faith in him..its not that hard mate..he will get it done ..done worry about it so much...
has he done the police check and received it yet? Did you or your fiance do a chnage of address to the consulate..has he got his mail redirected? just looked that he has the packet 3..when he send in the returning forms just get him to put the new address with his old address as part of where have you lived..they will do a comparison im sure mate...

girlfromoz how you doing mate..hope you dont mind me using your timeline as an example for moonie mate...

girlfrmoz
Hi Kath, No worries glad my timeline is of use for others. Have you had your interview yet? I am having the night off! Choccies and DVDs tonight, everything can wait until tomorrow.

Hey Moonie, Kath is right hold off until after easter as sometimes the interview date can be close after you receive your pkt 4. I know how you are feeling though, I was worried when Jake had to do all the I-134 stuff, it took ages to get his letter from the bank and then he accidently trod on it in the snow and got it all muddy, jeeze was I worried about it and it all worked out fine. I think the point you are at right now is one of the most stressful and intense times in the process. Hang in there! Come in here and talk to us when you need! smile.gif

Hi Rings, it's good that you are getting all the material together that Loke needs and it sounds like things are starting to move along for you, YAY!! biggrin.gif As I said to Moonie, it's exciting and stressful all at once and you feel quite overwhelmed sometimes. Just do little bits at a time and you will get there.

Hey Vik, if you get a chance to get on here, hope you arrived safely and are having a wonderful time with you fiance!! kicking.gif biggrin.gif

I'm trying to find her an office job here at my hospital. If not there are plenty of other places she's qualified for... so things are looking promising.
Moonie
Thank you kath and Girl good.gif

He did his police report last week and he has not received it yet. He recieved the i-324 that I sent to him yesterday so he has that. He told me that he already sent off his D-230 that he stated it needed to be sent off right away. I guess blink.gif

He told me that he had his mail routed to his parents where he is staying. I am not sure if he changed it on his paperwork. unsure.gif His medical appointment will be 4/26/07. I wonder if his mom has his shot records unsure.gif

I think I will tell him to wait till he at least gets his police report. I would just hate for to get the interview and not have everything. I think what makes me even more stressed about this process is that I lost my job. sad.gif I have not worked in a week and it feels like forever.

I would have to agree this part is the most stressful.
Rings
I know that I am not where you are Moonie, but I know how hard it must seem. I think that if you are really worried about his address info, then you should call the embassey yourself for your peace of mind just to check and see if his address information has been updated in their system. If you call them and they have the new info, then at least that will knock off one worry so you can work on the next one. I know that I don't know a whole lot about where you are in the process, but I do know that when you slowly weed out each thing, then you start to feel a little better at the overall journey.

Honestly, I am not one to talk if you look at all my frantic posts lol
Kath
hi monnie
your welcome for the info thats what were here for mate..
shame about loosing your job ...fingers crossed you will get one soon mate...

if his mum doesnt have his records tell him to go get the blood tests done from his local doctor ..it wont cost anything it goes through medicare...
what date did he send it off..fingers crossed that the interview is planned for after the medical mate..if its before dont stress over it too much ..you can contact the consulate and reschedule another date but must be done asap..but you as the US citz must write a letter stating why you want it rescheduled not your fiance...

to all HAPPY EASTER...i miss the aussie easter eggs can someone eat one or two for me lol..

p.s. hi rings how u doing? i know what the link finding thing is like...i use to do the same thing..find something then forget how i found it...glad to help and anytime
Rings
Hi Kath! I am doing great! We were touched yesterday and that somehow re-news me lol. David and I are working to try to avoid last minute rushes so he already started his immunizations and he got his shot records from his mom and now he is working on doing the finger printing for the police clearance now. I think that all in all we are doing fairly well. He is flying here to see me on May 6th and I will be sending him back with everything that he will need for the interview at that time. I made each petition and then a binder for the tax information fully equiped with everything neccessary for the affidavit of support so I think it is going ok. We are trying to keep a step ahead. I hope that things are going well for you too! Your anniversary is coming YAY!

He only sent off the D230 I hope that isn't to get an interview because he sent that off like the day after he got his packet 3

I found a copy of it on VJ. I already sent him a message to wait until he gets his police report and blood test before sending off for the interview. I think that would be the safe bet.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!! kicking.gif

I am currently waiting for packet 3. How long did people wait before calling up to ask? NVC informed us that they sent our file to Sydney on the 26th of March and i have still not received anything. Am i being too impatient?? What information do they need from us if we were to call up?

Thanks! smile.gif

My Australian Memories kicking.gif

The Milkman delivering raw milk

to your door in a metal galvanised dipper

or jug with a hinged lid

The Paper boy with the timber box cart

drawn behind his bike.

The familiar whistle Sunday morns.

You or your Neighbour selling your surplus fruit and vegetables by placing a sign on your fence.

When there was always a good feed

of fish in the local river or creek.

Coming home after a feed of mulberries

and all parts the body covered

in purple stain, especially feet

You Dad cutting off the chooks head

for Christmas.......say no more!

Your first Billy Cart and all the skin off

your knees and elbows

Having been stung by a bee or bees

and your Mum covering you in "Blue" or "Bluo"

You pegged a piece of cardboard

to the fork around the back wheel

of your bike to sound like a motor.

Your Dad using a length of stick or rod

to measure the amount of petrol

in the family car's petrol tank.

Your first push bike, be it a Speedwell

or Malvern Star.

The lucky kids had mud guards, did yours?

Using a beer bottle as the hand reel when going fishing. (Unlike today the fish didn't seem to know the difference.)

My neighbor Mr Goodwin mowing the lawn
Saturday morning with the Victa lawnmower
then the taking the motor off and putting
it in his boat and going fishing.

Try a circular shape with slightly more mixture at the edges,
so that it may be served by placing goodies in the centre depression.
Cook in a pre-heated, cool (250 deg. f) oven for one hour.
When cooked, turn the oven off, leave the oven door slightly ajar,

Hi Guys,

quick question- may seem silly...but I was browsing through Sydney's Consulate reviews..and it seems that everyone aims to be at the consulate around 7:30am..and that no-one really has an assigned interview time? On my letter it says that my interview time is at 8am- so I am a tad confused? Obviously I will aim to be there before 8am...but are there or aren't there assigned times for the interview?
Kath
hi tamzo
yeah there are alloted times for the interviews...hamster has a 10am interview time for friday 13th..

maybe its just that many have the early time slots...our interview i cant remember what time it was for but in my notes in my visa note book i put down that 8.20am arrived at the 59th floor... and 8.40am called up to the first window...

if your arriving at the airport at 6am and go directly to the consulate have some breaky then go up around 7.30am..i cant remember when they actually open the doors for you to line up..from what i just read the lifts dont open till 7.30am to the 10th floor...you will have plenty of time mate...7.45am the lifts to the 59th floor opens..

be prepared for the first security check they will look through all your bags and scan you with a portable detector..once seated the guard will tell you when you can go into the lift..get in the lift last that way your first out and you get to the ticket thing before others...(just a time saver thing)

if you want pics of the embassey tamzo i can email them to you because if your going by taxi it wont be right outside the embassey ...

you will be right just make sure you have your file ready in a bag easily accessable for you..

good luck to ya you will do fine

Hi Tamzo22,

Well my Visa is a CR1 Visa,
and I have a Interview Time of 10.00am Friday 13th April 2007.
The day after yours, so I don't know how it works for a K1 visa. unsure.gif
Just know with mine it states Interview Time is 10.00am. kicking.gif

So I am wondering what time do I have to be at the Consulate,
to go through the security and get to the 59th floor?? blink.gif

Any other CR1 interviewees have any input?

Cheers
