Well My Lovely Wifee Cheryl / NorthernGirl has flown back to,
Massachusetts on Tuesday Morning here 11.30am Adelaide Time
SHE WILL ARRIVE BACK IN MASSACHUSETTS ,
WEDNESDAY 21ST FEB AROUND 9.35AM.


We called N.V.C. ON 16th February and they said that......
They have finished with it there,
And will be sending it off to Sydney within 2 - 4 weeks
So the finishing line isn't too far ahead
Any ideas on how long will I have to wait before,
I get something in the mail from Sydney Consulate ???

Well we had a ball when Cheryl was here 9th Feb - 20th Feb.
Did nearly 3200 kms - 1988 miles on our road trip.
Not bad for a 6 Day trip to see my sister in Mt Martha.
Drove through Mt Gambier then all the way along The Great Ocean Road,
THE 12 ( ACTUALLY ONLY 8 LEFT )APOSTLES.. LONDON BRIDGE,
THR BLOWHOLE AND ALL THE FUNNY ROAD SIGNS.... LOL
Then up through to Sorrento Ferry to cross the Penninsula,
To visit my Sister in Mt Martha......

paul your right with the communication thing...its the key ... a long distance relationship is very different to one that you have usually..all you got it talk talk talk...glad ya enjoyed ya holiday with ya wife...what did she think of the grampians did she get to get close to the kanga's...robbie loved them but he wouldnt get close to um the chicken lol so i had to show him there wasnt anything to worry about i got within 3 steps to um he couldnt believe that they just stayed there lol...he just had to have pics of it too lol

Lyndel, my interview is March 12. Two weeks from yesterday!!!! Gosh!!!! Getting so excited (and nervous) about it! If all is ok, I plan to fly out just before Easter, so we'll be leaving around the same time - the last two single girls

Good luck with your car sale! Would any of your friends need one? Did you put it in the paper or somewhere local? Like... an all doors at Woden shopping centre? Or Belconnen. Or Tuggeranong. LOL There must be someone in Canberra who wants a cool 2003 Honda I've just managed to sell mine ('04 Lancer) to a uni student here. At least now I can't get lazy but will have to walk everywhere. Much needed!

Kath, yeah... we plan July 1 wedding as well. There you go - we'll be doing the count down together... "only" a year apart Couldn't get the church that saturday. You think it will be too hot? It better not! Apparently SF doesn't get TOO hot. We plan 4pm church and then a bay cruise reception so it shouldn't be bad. Right now the worst thing is holding off the excitment until we know FOR SURE that visa's granted! Thanks for good wishes.

THANKS! Wow! It's great your I-130 took just a little over 2 months since the NOA1! I am expecting my NOA1 any day now. I hope I get lucky and have the I-130 approved around the same time as you.

It's cool that there are a few other couples here that filed around the same time. I hope we all get the same luck with processing times. I get excited just thinking how it will be like once we get close to finishing this process.

Hey Vik, wow your interview is real close then! How many sleeps is that? I am sure you will do just fine and you will also feel so much better when it is over. The relief is amazing. I am planning to leave Oz early April now so we might be going at the same time. Are you going through JFK to get your temp EAD stamp? I will be flying to tahiti then JFK, Denver and Colorado Springs. I think i get in at the inhuman hour of 3.20am. Are you going to be living in SF, my fiance is from there. Wow we might be able to catch up there sometime when we go for holidays to see his Mother.

I'm thinking of doing Jame's shortcuts too but I just hope they are still valid when it's our turn. That barcode generating thing seems cool but it worries me too since I want to be sure it will read correctly.

As for the delivery of petitions, I would drive it up to the Vermont Service Center myself (6+ hour drive) if I could get them to start processing it immediately. The funny thing is I remember driving through St. Albans in Vermont many years ago when I drove to Montreal. It's a pretty small quaint town near the Green mountains. I wonder if the whole town is employed by the USCIS!

Yeah I wondered that too Vy, when I read them, especially as the dates of them are old. But I did read in a string on here where someone else queried that too but apparantly it should be ok as long as you change the visa title to suit and as long as the bar code is correct. I was thinking I might just change the date also. It looks like yours will happen first so I may just see how you go..... lol..

Great news for those caught in the middle of DCF...

At least it is something in writing. Those of us in LIMBO now have an idea of what will happen. I've already recieved an email from someone else who did DCF in Sydney, that Sydney is requesting for their passports so they can be stamped with it's final approval of the visa.

I'm just waiting to hear from them myself to get my wife's visa put into her passport.

One more thing... if you haven't already filed your I-130 petition... you must now file it in the US. This only pertains to those who have already filed the I-130 at an Embassy or Consulate abroad. So hurry and get those petitions in... We all lost over a month due to this big headache.

for the interview they want to see the originals of things you have sent in..by all means take copies just in case they want to keep them but it didnt happen with the k1...photo copy your police certificate a few times so you have a copy of it yourself...they need the original medical and police cert...

questions can be just about anything to let them know your telling the truth...eg...when were you married..where does your husband live.....any more proof of your relationship ... phone bills photo's wedding invites wedding pics receipts for your reception an minister...anything that might help them determine your bonofide applicant mate...

dont be too worried it will all turn out on the day...

This person emailed the consulate and the consulate told them to send in their passport. They had their final interview back in early February I think... and we were all in Limbo.

The Beneficary, the Upcoming Medical and Interview Stuff.
Do they send it Regular Post,
or do they send it to me through DHL?
DO THEY SEND IT TO CHERYL AS THEY DID SEND HER MY NVC NOTICE,
THAT IT HAD BEEN FORWARDED TO SYDNEY CONSULATE ,
IT WAS ADDRESSED TO ME BUT AT CHERYL'S ADDRESS.
WILL THE CONSULATE DO THE SAME AS NVC,
AND SEND IT ADDRESSED TO ME BUT TO CHERYL'S ADDRESS,
IN MASSACHUSETTS?
AND IF SO HOW CAN I TRACK IT FROM THE CONSULATE.
NVC SAID ON THE PHONE THEY MAILED OUT OUR CASE TO SYDNEY,
ON THE 20TH FEBRUARY 2007.

i did a search on vj for you..i entered DHL tracking...and i think i found your package for you...
go to the link below.

DHL tracking

from looks of it ...its the date you said it was sent from NVC....

here is how i did it mate

Go to DHL.com

It will ask for your location... put USA, even though your not there. At the top there are some drop-down menus... click on 'Track' menu, then select 'track by reference'... click on it.

In the 'reference' field, type: correspondence

Use the date drop-down menus to select dates a day or so either side of when the NVC claimed to have forwarded your petition to the consulate.

In the 'origin postal code' field, type: 03801

Then click 'track'....Click on the red tracking number for a package, and you will be able to track its progress and see when it's been signed for at the consulate.

Greetings everyone, we're Mark and Anna. I'm a writer from the U.S., which allows me to visit Anna often in Australia and spend weeks or even months at a time with her. We've been keeping our eye on the VJ boards for awhile and learned so much from it - it's an amazing resource and the people are great - but we only recently discovered the Aussie thread and decided to introduce ourselves.

A bit of our history is below. As you can see, we married just days before word came of the change in DCF the day before I planned to file at the Sydney consulate (our plan was and is to bring Anna back to L.A. with me). I'm back in the States now and Anna's still in Sydney, and like many similar couples around the world, we're waiting to see what will happen with the DCF. I'm going back to see her soon and hopefully before then we'll get word about the DCF resuming; if not, I may bite the bullet and file the I-130 here in the U.S. before leaving.

Anyway, we just wanted to get into the mix here and say hello. . . Cheers, Mark and Anna

Awe welcome! Did you really just dial the wrong number? thats freaking awesome and a wonderful way to meet the other half of you. I am glad to meet you and I am sure that the others are too. According to the other posts a page back DCF is starting to look like something is happening. I havent personally looked too deepy at DCF, but I hope it comes back in an even better way for you guys because you guys deserve a chance to be together and fast!

As for the interview - I'm trying not to be too nervous and not to take it out on Aaron but it doesn't always work

someone said it might be good idea to email consulate your new address. I'd say do it!
Both my pack3 and pack4 were sent to Aaron in SF, although they did send me some (not needed) mail on the same date. It did affect my dates. In your other thread I told you that my NVC letter was 26 Dec, and consulate pack3 was 9 Jan, but because it went via SF, I got it only 30 Jan. So, if you can prevent same happening to you... do it.

And what Kath said abt tracking DHL - that's now for NVC to Syd mail. But when Syd sends it to you/Cheryl no tracking. At least my pack3 was ordinary mail and that other letter I got from them here. Someone correct me if I'm mixed up

Hello Again!
I had another question for all of you. If we delay our interview date until early May, will it be possible for my fiance to visit from Australia for 3-4 weeks before the interview under the Visa Waiver Program? We honestly cannot bear to be apart from one another much longer and his parent's planned a trip here March 27-April 9th, and he would like to of course be here when they are. I've read some information that says it should be OK, but others say you cannot visit while a K1 is in process.
We would like for him to come here for about 4 weeks, fly back for the interview, then come right back as long as all goes well... then get married at that later date.
Any insight/info you might have would be great !! Thanks again!

I only discovered this thread recently too. There are lots of good folks here. It's nice to know how many Aussie/US couples there are. I am also hoping for DCFs return but I filed the I-130 stateside anyway. If it does return I'll ask if I can file for it in person. It couldn't hurt to ask.

As for the video, glad to give you folks a laugh. I really needed that considering the ups and downs of being apart. Kath, I laughed at the term "dag"! Some people in the US have no idea what I am talking about when I say that my wife calls me "daggy" LOL.

nycangel...i did the k1 and came here while mine was pending i had no trouble getting in...also i did the extension of the interview from april to june...email the consulate with all the details you have about your case..also the U.S. citz can only one that requests the change of date..so you have to post your fiance a letter of extension..if you want i will can email a copy of ours to show the wording...when he receives it get him to fax the letter plus a cover letter...either way you will hear from them to reschedule...and by the way we extended the interview for the same reason as you ...robbie was comin over in june for a visit and take me back with him...send me a message if ya need any other info...

i truely hope that DCF does return to Sydney....so many from here did it an got together quicker..you dont realise how one law passed affects so many people ...especially in immigration...ohh speaking of immigration... i found something that you might be interested in pertaining to fingerprinting when you get over here and doing your AOS and name checks...i am posting it now that way you can take a gander and understand the process and the delays it might cause...I can hear ya what more to read lol...but on vj there are lots not got their greencards because of this process...im just preparin ya ..

Awe Kath you are the greatest. I am trying to sort of wait and do one step at a time because I do not want to bog my brain down with an overload of information that they can just change the law one day and force me to retrain my brain waves in an instant the next day.

Welcome Mark & Anna, yours is a wonderful story...2.5yr courtship that has to be a record lol.. I/we could barely hold out the first 7mths it took to save up and book a ticket over.... J & I married early January all set to do DCF also. We've now just sent in the I-130 for the CR-1/IR-1 but will certainly switch if DCF comes back as ours will take longer mailing from Australia since we are both here, for now.

Ha ha..Kath, I call J a dag all the time, even after I've explained what it really means lol.. hehe.. He didn't understand it till he was in N.Y. and met an australian; telling him his gf calls him a dag? the aussie said if she's calling you that she cares about you cos in Australia it's an endearing term lol..

Hi Vik, congrats on selling the car! We only have dial-up at home cos otherwise we need to sign 24mth contracts which is no use to us so I probably won't be able to view the video at all We may be a friendly nation but we sure know how to rip each other off in business..!

My wife got her VISA! Well, actually not yet... because she is here in America at the moment. But I emailed Sydney and they called on the 22nd of February to issue her visa.

I am SOOOO HAPPY FOR YOU GUYS and the at the same time a little sad because if I had any idea DCF would have been discontinued I would have flied over to lodge the petition after we got married. I'm now at the mercy of the VSC which is rumored to be in turmoil at the moment. I have no idea how long it will be processed before it makes it to the NVC which will take another two months at least.

Anyway, I'm glad things worked out in the end! Steph was able to be with you while waiting and now when she leaves and comes back, she'll be a PR! SWEET!

she would have to go home ...cos she has to get the visa in the passport and the brown envelope and do the POE thing to get it all registered on the computer to get her greencard... i cant see um saying arrh well ya there we will just post it ...they aren't that logical im afraid ..but i have been known to be wrong lol...
