Now that Chutima and I are moving to Florida, we will actually be able to afford a house! Totally impossible here on Kauai. Anyway, we will need to get a home loan. I have been in contact with Countrywide Home Loans, and a friend of mine has also used them, and liked them a lot.

Has anyone else used Countrywide, or heard anything about them? They are supposed to be the largest independent lender in the U.S.

Thanks,
Robert

I haven't used them, but I know of other who have and they are a reputable company. To get the best deal, I would try and find a local mortgage broker. They can usually get you the best rates...

I had a loan with them once in Florida -- nice outfit -- had good experiences.

Thanks for all the replies. So far, I have not heard anything bad about Countrywide, so it makes me feel more confident about going ahead and using them to finance our new home. biggrin.gif

Yes we had our mortgage with Countrywide up until a few months ago. We refinanced, and were actually able to get a larger amount from another company. However, Countrywide were always very helpful, and did everything they could to work with us. We never had any problems with them at all.

Large company, reputable, we use them for all of our investments (I work for a Homevestors franchise.)

I've had my mortgage with them going on 3 years. Only good experiences. And they have consistently paid the property insurance bill from escrow very promptly without me having to contact them. (Knock on wood!!)

They bought my mortgage and I've been with them for donkey's years. They've never tried to screw me over and they haven't sold my name to a million lists. Good rates, good programs, in fact I did a nice no-doc re-fi with them last time.

Wow, it sounds like they are definitely a good company! Considering not a bad word has been said, especially here on VJ... that speaks volumes!!! wink.gif biggrin.gif

Thanks to everyone who provided comments. I will definitely go with them for my home purchase. I have been pre-approved for a "fast and easy no-doc" home loan! biggrin.gif

Now all I need to do... is find a house!!! good.gif

roi, if you're willing/able to do a fully documented loan, you may get an even better rate---ask them!
