Hi again.

We are trying to get a copy of my Sweetie's immunization records so we've got them when we need them, but his physician in England says she only has access to his adult records. Most of the big immunizations were given at school, and we are having trouble finding out how to get a copy of this older stuff. We checked with his parents to see if they have any old paperwork, but they insist nothing was ever sent home with him and they don't have any sort of immunizations book like the kind my parents had for me here in the US.

Can someone here with a UK partner who has already done this please suggest what we should do? The people he's called at the local schools are clueless. Thanks!

He can have a blood test done, titres to check his immune level. The ones he will likely need are tetanus and mmr.

I had the same trouble. I couldnt even get hold of my adult immunizations. Thats how great the NHS is. They have no clue.

Anyway, when I went for my medical at Knightsbridge I just paid to get them done. They didnt seem to worry about if I had already had them etc, they were more than happy to jab me and take my money. I think it was about 35 pounds per shot.

Thanks, T&B. Just those two things? Is that all you needed?

Congrats on making it to the end of your long journey. From your photos and your posts you seem like such nice people - I'm very happy to hear that you'll finally be together for good. Best of luck!

Thanks, and *wow*! £35 each? That hurt worse than the injections, I'll bet! Hmmm. And it was just the tetanus and mmr? If that's all then I can see if he can get the mmr done ahead of time to save the sticker shock. I know he had the tetanus just two years back. We'll take that £35 and go to dinner in London after the interview!

Yup, the price did suck, but oh well, anything for an easy life...

The tetanus shot I had to get was a combination of Tetanus & Diptheria. I'm not sure if thats how they come, or if it is a specific requirement for coming over here.
Also, my local GP said they didnt do the combined MMR anymore, but the doctors in Knightsbridge did. Maybe it was just the GP where I went to, but to be safe I would get everything done at the "official" doctors because they know what is required.

Good Luck.

Tim had the mmr and the dt both done by his gp for free!

Vaccination Requirements
United States immigration law requires immigrant visa applicants to obtain certain vaccinations prior to the issuance of an immigrant visa. On the day of the medical examination, the physician will be required to verify that the applicant has met the vaccination requirement, or that it is medically inappropriate for the applicant to receive one or more of the following vaccinations: Mumps; Measles; Rubella; Polio; Tetanus and Diphtheria Toxoids; Pertussis, Influenza Type B (HIB), Hepatitis B, Varicella, Pneumococcal, and Influenza.

Okay MMR, TD are required Pertussis I believe is for young children, influenza is for I believe 55 and over, hepatis B is under the age of 19, varicella is not a requirement in the UK. Hope that helps.

oops messed this post up lol
If he had the tetanus only 2 years ago, it wont be required of him again they are good for 10 years. So another penny saved there!

This might also help:

David had no records of any of his vaccinations. He has his blood tested and the doctors said that he is current on everything... and completed a vaccination record accordingly. Seems to me that would be a cheaper route than getting re-vaccinated all over again...

yes.gif Yes so long as the gp will do the titres for free. Tim's would not, he had to go to a private facility and I believe it was something like 60 quid. He still ended up getting the free MMR and TD, seemed silly to us to pay a very high rate at Knightsbridge to have them done. I am like the OP save the 70 quid for the two shots and go have a nice meal.
