I tried getting my driver's license at the local DMV in Springfield, Missouri and they were not able to issue me one due to the fact the my I-94 had expired. Do I have to wait for my EAD or a AOS to be completed? Or is there a way to get a new and updated I-94?

I don't know for Missouri, but here in California, I need my EAD, or GC, whatever comes first, in order to get a DL.

And no, I don't think you can get an updated I-94..

There is no way to extend or 'update' the I-94 once it expires. You do need to provide 'proof of valid US immigration status' as that is a new federal requirement. Some states have accepted the NOA1 you received from the filing of the AOS - but not all. You can certainly give that a try with your local state. If they won't accept it, however, you will have to wait for either the EAD or the AOS. Some states are also requiring AOS and don't accept EADs either - it just depends on what state you are in.

I know that every state is different but when my husband got his in Ohio it was quite easy. All he needed was his old drivers license/ID, the visa with passport and I-94 form, and the NOA1 notice to show that he has applied for a green card. I called the state center DMV here in Ohio and they gave me all my answers. I would go online and try calling them! because he was from Germany he didn't even have to take a driving test, only the written part! Good Luck!
