Melinda and I received some awesome news today, Our case number was assigned for the I-130 by NVC on August 10th.

The recording says that our attorney, who is our agent, will receive this notification in 6-8 weeks.

Is this really true that it will take them 2 months to just get the first bills to our attorney so we can get the process rolling, or is this a "canned" statement that they make?

Please tell me it doens take them this long!

Those of you who have written to me asking if we got our case number, wondering this because ours and your files at USCIS was "touched" after the NOA2, now you can relax, see the touch was just getting our files ready for NVC, all is well!

That is a standard response. Depending on the day of the week that a case number is assigned, will often dictate when the first of the generations is done. This is because generations are usually done on a Monday/Tuesday. Therefore this is the best time to hear updated automated messages on your case. eg. I was assigned a case number on Tuesday and the DS-3032 & AOS Fee Bill generated the following Monday. I was not able to hear the update though until the Tuesday.

Congrats! Take a look at my timeline for a better idea. You can always email your choice of agent to get the ball rolling but not until they have generated it!

We're in Canada and it never took mail very long to get to us. So no, it definitely was NOT 6-8 weeks. More like 2 or 3 weeks.
