I applied for the K-1 Visa for my fiancee starting March of this year, and had the I-129F approved. It was then sent by NVC to the embassy in Hong Kong. We started getting all the materials necessary (medical checks, police checks, etc) when the petition was withdrawn because of a recent bill concerning criminal record checks on the petitioners too. Took me a while to figure out what was happening (phone calls w/ lawyers, google) because embassy, NVC, and USCIS had no idea where the petition was at the time.

Long story short -- they sent me the blue form asking me questions about my criminal past, I returned the form, and now I just received a notice stating that NVC has AGAIN sent the petition to the embassy in Hong Kong.

Trying to stay one step ahead, we had decided to start gathering all materials a month ago. For the many countries tht she lived in, getting the police check was not a problem (if anybody needs help w/ the process for Korea, UK, HK, let me know). However, getting a record for China proves difficult. My fiancee stayed in Shenyang for 3 years, and so has been calling the local police station to inquire. They don't know what she's talking about.

I called the Chinese Embassy in DC, and they said local police station. The authorities in HK direct her to the local police station. And yet the local police station replied, over phone, they have no idea what she's talking about??!!

As this is one of the last barriers for her coming here, I would greatly appreciate any help on this matter. I imagine getting a check in China is a long procedure and we would like to be as quick as possible.
