Myhusband arrived yesterday and the POE gave him a CR1. He was supposed to get a IR 1 since we have been married 2 1/2 years. Does anyone know if this is can be fixed and if so how?

Oh no!! I had heard that it is your spouse's responsibility to tell them that they qualify for the IR1 status at the port of entry. I wish I had some ideas, and I will search, but for now good luck and congrats that he is here.

He did.

She said it has taken him a long time to get here and she sees he has been married for over 2 years. he said yes we were married such and such.

You're kidding? They made the mistake and we are responsible? I should have figured as much.

Make an Infopass appointment with your local office and hopefully they can get it sorted out.

Failing that, you can look into something called "deferred inspection", but I think the InfoPass can sort it out.

CR-1= spouse married less than two years

IR-1= spouse married more than two years

Both can be a visa classification, or an immigrant (PR) status classification. You also could have a CR-1 visa but get IR-1 status.
