Yup - went and applied monday, and went back to get the number today (still gotta wait on the card tho - 2 weeks more) and now I have it biggrin.gif
I followed mdyoung's info (we're not worthy dude, seriously..lol) and I got it in my new married name - I waited for around 2 weeks and when I went in I was on SAVE, and they took my marriage cert as my 'official change of name document' (it had my DOB on it as the master said it would need) and it was no hassle at all.
Well it was a SLIGHT hassle as the guy I got was filling in on the counter and had never seen a K1 before - but he checked with a colleague who HAD and she knew what was what; when we went back today she even knew about K2 child visa and told me I'd have to wait for that til after green card for her SSN (she double-checked her info to make certain tho) which was what I thought but it never hurts to check eh? smile.gif
Kudos then to the SSA at Hickory in NC good.gif
Next stop (after me getting my OWN bank account and not just a joint one) is AOS - which we really MUST start soon! biggrin.gif

LOL Cerise!

Update on my SSN card - they said it would take 2 weeks for me to get my card - actually I got the card 4 DAYS after I applied!!
AND (drum roll) it isn't stamped 'not valid for employment' - so that's a bonus - not that I need it laughing.gif
Big kudos goes out to Hickory SSA tho - after reading on VJ about how long it took some people to get their SSN card I was more than gobsmacked to get mine so fast good.gif
I also now have my own bank accounts, as well as joint with Lenny, at his credit union. The credit union also just started doing photo ID, so I also now have my very first US ID card - next stop AOS application (once we get ink for the printer, lol.)

Sure makes me wish I'd gone to the Hickory SSA instead of Gastonia. Gastonia was an absolute nightmare to deal with and it took me 4 months to get my name changed on my SSN.
