. The IV Fee Bill payment was received by the National Visa Center on August 2, at 12:00Pm, and when I call there is no update. Why does it take so long for them to process the payment? sad.gif

It takes about 1-2 week for NVC to update the IV Fee Bill payment. First, St Louis Center receivs it and subsequently updates it into NVC system. Then NVC okays it and they generate the DS 230 packet. You are better off talking with an operator live rather than automated system, as the automated system does not update any recent developments right away.

Yea! They are very slow on that. Same thing happened to me. You've paid so go ahead, download and prepare the DS-230 and all necessary documents. When you hear DS-230 generated, send them in. You don't have to wait for them. Good Luck!

I would be very surprised if they accepted a police report from 2004 and you could very well get an RFE. Im world ignorant at present so am not aware of any recent developements in Cuba so I cant say for certain that they wouldnt take this into consideration. Are you required to submit the police report at interview or NVC stage? The biographic pages of the passport though is required at NVC regardless of which consulate.

All the best. This journey is sure bumpy sometimes hu yes.gif rose.gif

I was hoping that he is able to submit the police report at interview rather than send it in to the NVC, I know that he is trying to get it done ASAP, I already have the passport he emailed it today, another questions is that is it ok to use wite-out on the DS-230 package, I fill it out for him and then send it and I entered the schools wrong, so he send it back to me signed, with a note that I needed to change the schools.
So if the police report is not needed I think that we are ready to go. Thanks to all for you advices.

I wouldnt advise using white-out. Are they just spelling errors or out of order? Will it really make a difference? Is it possible to just cross out and make the corrections? This option would be preferable if anything.

If you are not required to submit the police certificate/s to NVC then at least this gives more time for your husband to obtain it. If its not in hand by interview and they require the updated one (which Im pretty sure they will), they wont issue the visa until it is in hand so just be aware of that.

NVC told me that it is ok to use the white out. I used it before for my parents' DS 230 and they went fine.

Thanks, I called today and they still haven’t up date our case they received the money order on august 2, and nothing yet. I also asked lots of questions like if I could send the DS package before they send it to my from a down load, and they told me no that I needed a bar code, and if I was to send it to them it would only make the process longer. I also asked about wite out and they said it was OK. Also they don’t need the police record only a copy of passport, which I got it today. So I am ready, and waiting…

That is what James Shortcuts is all about, generating the barcode. The barcodes of which are and have been accepted by NVC for quite some time now with no delays noted as a result of it.

You can prepare your DS 230 as well as creating the barcode coversheet using James' shortcut section. You also need the photocopy of the passport biographic pages of the beneficiary. Biographic pages mean those pages that have the beneficiary's name, date of birth, place of birth, and place of issuance. Make sure, you write down the case number on the top right hand corner of all pages of DS 230 and passport biographic pages. One thing, do not send the DS 230 and passport pages until NVC generates them. If you send them before NVC generates them, then it will further delay the process, but if you send them after they are generated, then you will save at least few days. Yes, you have to put the DS 230 barcode cover sheet that you can create here in front of all documents.

Have you read James's shortcuts, in the thread by AussieW pinned at the top of the NVC forum? He gives very clear instructions on what to do.
