hello to everyone!would like to ask how long it takes to get a drivers license here in California? How about a non- drivers license? Is non-driver license is same with state id?looking forward from reply and thank you so much!

You must have proof of legal residence before you can get a driver's license or state ID card in California. This usually means an EAD (work permit) or green card. The EAD is much faster and easier to get and it is good for one year. Once you have established your legal presence you must pass a written test and then an actual driving test.

You do not need to show proof of "legal residence" in the state of California. You need to show proof of legal presence in the USA. You do not need EAD or a Green Card in order to obtain a CA ID or DL. You can obtain either with only your SS card, a valid foreign passport, and I-94 form.
