I need a little help, My fiancées interview is scheduled for the 23 of January, My plan was to go down there on the 15th, help here with doctors app and paying the bank, get the visa and leave together on the 27th.

How long does it take to get the Visa after the interview? I am in the military so it is not easy for me to stay a long time. I was planning on buying us both tickets to leave on the 27th or 28th. When can we pick up the Visa after it gets approved?????
anyone know?

DOMESA is the shipper and located in the kiosk area of the Embassy in Bogota. They will tell you 6-8 days.
But we got ours in 3 days and called and picked it up at the DOMESA office in Cartagena.

You can NOT pick up the Visa at the Embassy anymore, they changed that rule last month and must be shipped to address of the
passport holder....

YOU WILL NEED AT LEAST 3-5 DAYS TO GET THE VISA AND THAN BUY YOUR TICKETS OR BE PREPARED TO PAY THE PENALTY FEE FOR CHANGING YOUR FLIGHTS......GOOD LUCK !!!!

Just drop by to share the good news with you: OUR VISA WAS APPROVED. The interview last few minutes, three questions: how many times have your fiancé has visited you, how many times have you visited him and where did you live while doing your masters degree in USA. Did not ask for any evidence and everything was in Spanish. I will post more details latter on.

It was nice meeting some people from VJ, please let us now how it went for you guys!!!

You will need the I-134 for the embassy interview and get it notarized. You will need the I-864 for AOS filing.
I know this to be true for a fact, because I brought both of the affadavits with me to the Embassy and they only wanted the I-134 and returned the I-864 to me. These affadavits should be notarized and include 3 years tax returns, although your only required to have one year. the other two are optional, but give more evidence for them to approve faster....Good Luck !!!

I hate to ask questions that have been answered 1,000 times, but I don't see anything in the non-forum area and my searches turn up nothing helpful. Or perhaps my severe anal retentiveness drives me to ask questions regarded as stupid by others. Anyway, I am filling out the I-129F and G-325A and have concerns about the address format. I figured people in this thread have the most knowledge consdiering it is dedicated to Colombia.

On what line should the barrio be listed? I was thinking for barrio, list it on the street address line as <Barrio> <Calle> X No Yy-Zz.

Should I leave the Zip code blank, or enter None or N/A?

The last thing I want is someone to deny my application for being incorrect, incomplete, or future correspondence not reaching my wife-to-be because the address is not processed correctly.

Would someone who has done this please offer some guidance?

No need to give them the barrio, only street # and city.

Ex.: Carrera 35 # 44-56, Cali, Colombia.

That's it. As for the zip code, put N/A since zip codes are not used in Colombia.

Hello everyone!

Any news from Byron? I remember his interview was today. If that is the case... hope everything went great for him!!

As for me... ahhhhmm... still waiting on NOA2. I am convinced my I-129F delayed the whole process (I-130 received in June; I-129F received on Aug 20th). So, I hope 2008 will bring me good news.

Have a great 2008... and for all of you still waiting, I am sure 2008 will bring us the news we are waiting for.
Happy 2008!
Juan Carlos.
BYRON-LEIDY
OK OK....Im sorry i didnt get back to everyone quicker, its that i slept nothing last night before the interview so we got back and collapsed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh by the way we were APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The interview lasted about 4 minutes ..the officer asked Leidy 4 simple questions and that was it..I really think that when the officer saw that Leidy and I met in Panama, it was pretty much the icing on the cake...He first asked her how long i was in Bogota the first time we met, then he asked how we met, then why we went to Panama to which Leidy answered that she had never seen the ovean, which was true by the way...and that I wanted to show her a beach and the ocean...he then said..."well Colombia has beaches in Cartagena and why we didnt just go there...well Leidy said that I have ana uncle that has a condo in Panama and that i thought it would be nice to take her out of Colombia since she had never left the country....he also asked her if Daniel´s father was ok with him leaving the country and Leidy said that he had already signed the release for him to leave...that was pretty much it...he than stamped the 156k ..made Leidy sign it and said ...you guys are approved...I almost fainted!!!!!!!! I was so happy, we looked at each other and gave eachother a big kiss!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was great to see some fellow VJers ....MV-JR...and Neophi get approved also...I also saw one girl who never registered onto VJ but regularly checks in ..im horrible with names so its slipping my mind..but they told her to come back in 2 days because she was missing some paperwork, she is a k3 applicant....Good luck to her!!!!!!!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One thing that has me a little worried is that i made absolutely no copies to any of my paperwork and they keep everything...my worry is that i dont know what is needed for the AOS process... unsure.gif

Im so happy this part of the process is over and that as soon as Domesa gets the visa to Leidy i could book her flight!!

One more thing im curious about is....is there a way that she can pick it up quicker ..she lives in Bogota...anyone have any suggestions???

Again thatnks everyone for all the help and see you in the AOS forum!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Felizitaciones, congratulations for the approval that sounds great that they did not grill you meaninglessly. How do you pick up the Visa, In Cartagena? Does that mean you have to go to Cartagena to pick it up how did you travel to Cartagena by Bus, Car, Plane? Is that correct that you cannot pick up the Visa in Bogota?

Hey Rob,

It used to be that the beneficiary could personaly go to the Embassy 2 days after the visa had been granted to pick up the visa package. Now DOMESA is the Embassy chosen delivery service for visa packages and there is a kiosk in the Embassy that the CO will send you where you will make arraingements for delivery. You can have it delivered anywhere in Colombia including Bogota. We had it delivered to the place that we were staying in Bogota...it arrived in the morning on the 4th business day. (buisiness days = Monday thru Friday...not including holidays)

First.................CONGRATS to all who were approved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Byron, you earned yours. LOL>LOL.

Now, I have a question. When I broght Paola here we had intended to bring her son a a later date, for reasons that I won't go into. Now, it has become very urgent to get him here ASAP. I won't go into these details now either, maybe later.
I can not find what we need to do to get intereview date for him. I have reviewd the site, but do not see a forum or explanation. He is 12 years old. We have the DS156, birth cert, Certificate of Abandoment. What do we do to get a interview date. We were told at the time Paola was applying that it would be no problem to have him come later. I do not know what or even if we submit anything to USCIS or Bogota. Some help please. Thank you.
Mononoke28
I think you have to start the process from the very beginning for him since the USCIS has to review the petition and the NVC has to assign a case # before sending it to the embassy.

Diana
Chester y Monica
Buck,

Was he on the original I-129F as "child" of Paola?
I would also assume that he was written down as "will travel later" in the DS-156.

Unless I am mistaken, his passport should have been submitted also during the interview of Paola. That way he has a K-2 visa wherein he can follow one year from the time the K1 arrives in the US. The approval of a K2 depends on the K1 getting approved.

Chester, He was supposed to be listed as traveling later, he was in the process of getting his passport and did not have it at the time. When we went to the embassy they gave us back all the docs that had to do with him. I looked on the USCIS site, not much info about the K-2 visa. It does look like if there has been a mistake he will have to start from the beginning. Bummmer!! I used a lawyer and it has not proved to be benificial. Man I hope this did not get screwed up.
We really need to get him out of Colombia as soon as possible.
TonyS
Sorry Buck. I feel for you. Looks like the lawyer did not give you your money's worth. It only took a day to get my stepdaughter's passport in Barranquilla. A K-2 is allowed to "piggyback" with the K-1 and can enter the US a year after approval. I would have had the K-2 approve with your wife's K-1 even if he's traveling at a later time. Anyway, that's water under the bridge now. I will check my sources and see what I can find. You may need to get a Colombian lawyer involved.

Wow! I never received it in the mail. I didn't even receive my NOA1 from way back. Is there anything I can do to avoid that hefty fee, since I never received anything?
Mononoke28
Call the USCIS to see what they say. They might be in a good mood today and send you a new one for free, if not, you'll have to pay to get it.

I also had to call them to get my NOA1 since I never received it and they said "We'll send you ANOTHER one in 30 days". I told them that it was not another one since I never received the "first one" in the first place. Then when I finally received it 60 days after I called, it said "Replacement copy of Notice of Action". They still said it was a replacement no matter what I told them.

Any Curramberos out there that recently interviewed? I'm trying to time Brianys' flight to the U.S. along with the arrival of the visa from DOMESA. We will be interviewing on the 15th, which is a Tuesday so I assume she will be receiving the visa in Barranquilla by Friday the 25th, which is 8 business days, so hopefully she should be able to fly out by the 26th.

Also, I'm searching for the link to the Colombia Club that's in Spanish. Anyone have the link?
