***Breaking News***
Just spoke to my fiance after she returned from the DAS office in Barranquilla. As of November 1rst, they only issue Migratory Certificate (Carta del DAS, entradas/salidas) in Bogota, no other cities. She was told it will take three days in Bogota, and was not even allowed to apply for this document today. They did give her the Police Certifacate (Certificado Judical del DAS). Just thought this would be good info. to share!

Galeria Cafe y Libro... Funny you mention that place. My wife was just there last Wednesday (night before Thanksgiving) because her sister was launching her new DVD. She's the lead singer and face of Maria Mulata, if you've heard of the group. If you any of you saw the Miss Colombia pageant, she did the musical presentation when all the "reinas" came out and did their dance.

By the way Scott, if you want to go out to a real nice place, which is actually the place where Leidy and I met....Its right by el Parque de la 93, its called Galeria Cafe y Libro....GREAT music, good drinks, mature crowd and finger food that was amazing!!!!!! Did i mention that they made the best Long Island Ice Tea i have had while in Colombia....

Nice! But they were closed when we got our approval at the Embassy so we stuck with a traditional Colombian place... Crepes & Waffles!!

FYI
Regarding the Migratorio-
My wife just informed me that you can request one BY PHONE from Bogota, to be issued within that 3-day time frame and given to someone you authorize in writing if you can't be in Bogota at that point. From whatever point of the country you're at... they also told her you can request (if +3 days from request date) to pick up at a later date, before the interview itself.

On the migratorio...for example with the policial, Leidy got it about 2 months ago, is that still good, i know its valid for 1 year but with the embassy you never know if they want it more current, ....that's the question i have with the migratorio , is it too soon to get or can shego ahead and get it already, God willing, the interview should be sometime in January.
Galeria Cafe y Libro is more of a night club place then a place to eat...I love the place, im big into salsa and thats the music they play most!

There is no need to call the embassy, DOS will know your interview at the same time and you can call Monday thru Friday.

Hi Byron,
Looking at your Timeline I notice you wrote
11/26/07-Packet 3 sent to Leidy did you mean A. The Embassy sent package 3 to your fiancé? or B. You sent the package (documents) she'll need to show at the Embassy
I'm wondering how did you found out about this information in case the answer is A?
The reason for which I'm asking is 'cause my electronic and hard copy of our package left NVC on November 19, my husband called the embassy on Wednesday and they said they haven't received the hard copy, the only thing I can think about to calm my nerves is 'cause of Thanksgiving day and floating holiday (Friday) the Embassy must be swamp with all those packages they received on Monday.

HEY EVERYBODY!!!!
I'm getting a little nervous here but I guess that's normal...I really can't wait to get to Bogota next week!!!
I spoke with Bob at Bogota Colombia Lodging (very nice and helpful guy) today and he told me he had a couple staying at his accomodations that went through the embassy and were approved on Monday...they had their visa package sent to Bob's office and received it this morning. Three working days seems to be safe but I just changed our flights to allow four working days just in case. (working days:Mon-Fri not including holidays)
Pretty good news that they are pretty quick getting it to a Bogota address.
P.S. Bob came highly recommended by others that have stayed there and now I know why.

WOW!!!!!! Things are changing fast. They seem to make it more difficult with everything they do. Sounds like you may have the answeare Scott. stay in Bogota a few extra days to get the visa.
To get the certificate of migration now sounds like a extra trip to Bogota for most folks, that sucks.
I am planning on getting Paola's son up here soon and will have to plan on all this. Thanks for the info folks.
Scott, Bogota is a wierd place. You go from freezing to sweating and back to freezing in a span of just a few minets. The wait outside of the embassy in the early morning was close to hell for us. I wore only a light shirt with a very light jacket. The wind and rain was a tad bit miserable too. We arrived at 5:30am and stood around for about 45 min. You can get there about 6am and be fine in IMHO.
Nervous is when yopu approach the interview window and have your brain go blank. I sat there confident while waiting, then, Paola's name was called and my brain just went blank. LOL>LOL.
I think you and Brian are the next two in line. Good luck to both of you. (and your fiancee's)

Ana I think was talking about the embassy sending packet 3 to Leidy...you have confirmed that to be 11/26/07.
I think your answer to her was in reference to NVC sending your case to the embassy.

I asked if there was a reason for the recent delays and the man at DOS just told me they should be scheduling at the same speed they normally do. So basically he had no idea. Maybe it is do to the holidays. The Embassy is opened all but about 3 days this month, but the doctors are all going on vacation.

Yes, l agree. Maybe we were very naive and tought that l would be there fro xmas but with USCIS you do not even know. He came here only for 1 week in april and our conection was amazing. En cuestiones del amor y del corazon nadie manda. We are a little bit worry becuase of the little time he was here maybe the CO can say it was too short. Pero como te dije en el corazon y en el amor es difícil mandar, Nosotros hablamos tooooodooos los santos dias por skype mas de una hora. We are always in touch every single day. He likes to call me everyday in my lunch time. My situation here is good, l have very good job and l was student in USA l dont know if this is good for the case....

Hey all,
I just wanted to pop in and offer my best wishes to those that are having their interviews soon. I guess Brian and Yenis are at the embassy right now.
I just returned yesterday from eleven days in Colombia with my wife. Those trips are always very bittersweet. There is nothing harder than those flights home alone. We are hoping to get our NOA2 soon. From what I have read in this thread, I guess the best we can hope for is a March interview.

Guys, the interview was finally scheduled. I'm scheduled for December 31st... wow what a date. Bad news is I'm gonna have to travel to Colombia (well it's always nice to go home, but I wasn't planning on spending an extra plane ticket). The good news is she'll be here for early January and I might even come back with her.
Try calling DOS see if your interviews have been scheduled, i.e. MV-JR.
OMG, I'm very happy for you guys. CONGRATULATIONS, I’ll be jumping, your wife is from Bogota and won’t have to spend New year’s away from her family. !!! Good for you guys.!!!
