Wow. For MV-JR it's already been 2 weeks and no interview date.

I was so busy today to call the embassy and I even forgot to tell my wife to do it. Damn. Oh well, I doubt they are willing to give me any more information than the DOS can.

Thanks Diana!
It looks like there are lots of questions being submitted and a lot of them have
nothing to do with Colombia. They will only choose 10 questions so there is a lot of competition!
I think we should lobby for "our" questions to be included. Please post your questions on the link Diana provided even if they have already been submitted and/or express your support for questions that have already been submitted if you think it is important that they be included.
Here are the ones I submitted:
- Why do the embassy authorized doctors in Bogota require that vaccinations be "fresh" and require beneficiaries to obtain and pay for vaccines they have already received?
- Does the attendance of the petitioner at the interview have any impact on the outcome?
- How does the embassy determine if the beneficiary and petitioner share a common language?
- When petitioners attend the interview, what determines whether or not they are interviewed?

I guess we all experience some plus' and minus' along our journey...it took almost 6 weeks between our NOA2 and NVC receiving it so a 2 day turn around at the embassy made up for a
little of that...who knows what's next for any one of our cases...I'm just glad and I think we are

That's a good point, Scott. It took a lot shorter than what users were reporting recently as to USCIS -> NVC time frame. I took 2 weeks or less for CSC to forward my case to the NVC, yet it took 6 weeks in your case... wow. Then you got the interview within 2 days, and now it's been two weeks since I faxed/mailed packet 3 and still no interview.
I was aware about the thread for the Colombian Consul and saw a lot of questions that were just a waste of space on that thread.

Come on people. VJ will select 10 questions to be submitted to the embassy. I think we are really missing an opportunity to get the answers to some important questions from the Bogota embassy if we do not participate in the thread where people are submitting questions.
Do we really want the embassy to be asked questions about the statue of limitations on drug convictions and how to recover original documents that were submitted with the I129F? I am sure these are important questions to a few people but wouldn't it be better for the embassy to be asked the questions that are frequently raised and discussed here?
Please
reply to my
post on that thread and express your agreement or disagreement with the questions I submitted. Then add any additional questions that you think should asked in your reply. Then the next person should reply to the reply etc. This will magnify the impact of our questions and maximize the chances that our questions will be the ones selected.
Thanks!

Yay to Bill's insistence on the VJ questions. At first I found it a bit strange to have gotten the Embassy that WE went through... and I think that at least a couple (2-3) questions should be dedicated in their entirety to Colombia-specific issues. I took issue with the vaccines problem a lot of us had here and tried strengthening that one.
I am sure we have plenty of Colombia-specific questions that we want to ask. Lets show the rest of the VJ community how interested we are in doing things right and concomitantly helping others perfect their approval records.

It's safe to say that there is a degree of mismanagement (at best) or corruption (at worst) at all stages of the immigration process. The business with the doctors and vaccinations in Colombia and with the so-called civil surgeons here is the best and clearest example. The issue with civil surgeons in the US is disgraceful. These people are probably getting paid by the government and are then also gouging the patients for an exam that is little better than two first-graders playing doctor with a plastic stethascope.

I wonder if the questions are family based only? Should we ask about what is their deal with tourist visas? I've seen very wealthy people with good proof and great jobs be denied, and then you see other people who don't even have a good bed to lie on at night get approved without questions. Maybe it has to do with the fact that Colombia approves over 50k visas a year but it's just a mistery to me.

I spoke with Bob at Bogota Colombia Lodging (very nice and helpful guy) today and he told me he had a couple staying at his accomodations that went through the embassy and were approved on Monday...they had their visa package sent to Bob's office and received it this morning. I definitely never go to TGI Friday's when I'm in Bogotá, unless my family really wants to. I mean with so many great restaurants why go to an American restaurant, when you've probably been to TGIF plenty of times?
I much rather go to El Corral Gourmet, La Luna, Crepes & Waffles, La Cigale... I mean I could go on and on.
I guess the only good thing about Friday's is that it's probably the only place in Bogotá where there are free refills.

WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! Scott...say hi to Bob and Luz for Paola and I. You will enjoy them, great folks.
Mall food and TGI Friday's is american food to me. No thanks. They do have some good traditional Colombian food in that mall though.
I prefer the street food and the small out of the way resturants. I love Colombian food.
Scott, if you stay in the apartments right by Bob's office, exit the office door turn left, go to the first street, turn right. There is a really good BBQ resturant about 2 blocks down. Also a good postre shop right on the corner of Bob's office.
If you stay at the other apartments the mall is only 5 or 6 blocks away and the best choice for food. There are a number of real cool little bars in that area to have a beer in and meet locals. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all!
Our application left NVC on Monday, so hopefully this LONG process will pick for us!!!
I've been reading through the prep information on the Embassy's site, but have found a couple of questions.......
1. How do I change my fiance's address in Bogota?
2. Do my fiance and is his son's birth certificates need to be translated into English? There is one example package that states documents in any language other that Spanish and English need to be translated and there is one that says all documents need to be translated.
3. What documents need to be notorized? The I134 Affidavit of Suuport. Does the Letter of intent to marry need to be notorized? Anything else?
Thank you so much!
We've gotten this far from what we have learned here on VisaJourney, thanks to all those before us who have posted advice! This is GREAT!!

Do not hesitate to add your questions also. Then the next person should reply to that post so that the new questions are posted repeatedly also.

Hi Michele,
1) To change their address at this point, include the change in the cover letter that you will fax to the embassy with packet 3...here's the link to the guide that you will follow.
http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...t&p=13291622) There is no need to translate at this point but later for AOS in the States it will be.
3) Yes, I134 will need to be notorized and also any other legal documents such as a divorce decree (if it is a copy) or any copies of legal documents surrounding the right of custody of his son...ect. Also don't submit any originals if you want to keep them...notorized copies are fine but bring the originals to the interview just in case.
3 1/2) You are done with the Letter of intent to marry in you initial I129F

I will ask as many questions there as possible that I have read here to hopefully fill you on on our APPROVAL !!!!!
But after tomorrow, I will not be on VJ, untill after the interview, because I am not bringing the laptop to Bogota.
My wife found a cute, clean hotel and its only 60,000 Pesos a night, 15 minutes from the Embassy, a $5.00 USD cab ride there.
I am soo excited to see my wife again after 3 months since my last visit and get her K3 visa to bring her back here to Miami.
See you soon and KEEP THE FAITH....GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU , AMEN
