Thank all of you so much from the bottom of our hearts. This has been a stressful journey and now it comes down to these last few days. She went to IOM for her medical and now she is using there services to help organize and prepare for the interview. She had a very short time to prepare since the interview came unexpected, so I think they will help get her prepared. We did some of our own interviews based on questions I feel they would ask her and she was fine. All I Want Is Pink!!! I dream of pink!!!!

Thanks again, you all are the best!!!

I'm Very Happy for you Mike, At least It was not to much of a delay for you Two.

Van is also using a Service in HCMC. She paid 125.00 so they will help her get all the paper work completed and organized. I did all her paper work here but they want to transefer it to there copies. ohmy.gif

Thanks everyone!!! I am sitting here drinking a few cold ones, since I could not make it for her interview. I am about stressed as I could get. I am hoping these cold ones will take the edge off. Just a few hours until her interview. This will be a sleepless night either way, and a long day at work tomorrow. Hopefully with great news. I will keep you all posted.

Thanks,
Mike and Huong

Mike, let me bring over a few more cold ones so I could share the "nerve wrecking" moments with you. Huong's interview will be conducted at the US Embassy at Ha Noi, thus it will be pretty different with ones in Saigon. Nonetheless, best wishes and ... cheers ...

Is that true? I didn't know they started doing K-1s there.

No it is done in HCMC. Well I got the call I thought might happen. She arrived for her interview and the woman told her that they are sorry but they sent our file back to the National Visa Center and she cannot have her interview. They told her once they have our file back they will schedule the interview. Well, it was sent out on August 7th, and should have gotten there at the end of last week. They told her I need to call NVC. Well I know what they will say, we sent it to the consulate. I called the consulate and the girl could not connect me to a supervisor, and could only tell me to check tomorrow if they received our file. The problem lies in the fact she flew from Hanoi to HCMC and has stayed there for the last 10 days, so she could get the medical. I paid for the plane ticket, hotel, and she missed 10 days of work. Now we don't know if she should fly back home or stay in HCMC. I told her to call there later today and check with them. I know how they treat the locals there, so I don't expect anything from them. Who do I call, and what do I do to find out what she should do????????????

This is a crime!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my lord Mike. This is a crime. The only thing you can do is call the consulate tomorrow. This sucks.

Hi Mike,

Wow!

ohmy.gif

While I know your immediate action might be to approach this with anger, remember to leave all of that emotion on the floor before you call the Consulate. Approach this professionally and diplomatically. At this point, the objective is to get your fiancee an interview.

Stay positive, patient and strong! Please let us know how we can help...if we can!

Everything happens for a reason!

Hi Mike,

Everything happens for a reason!

STL_HCMC

Sometimes things happen for NO GOOD reason.

Mike,
I am very sorry to hear about this. I cannot say I am surprised in the least that they would drop the ball like this.

If I were to venture a guess at what they will do next, it would be that they will not issue another interview date until they can acknowledge that they have your file. It can be days before HCMC gets back to you with an answer to the current situation. If you can't get an answer immediately I would say hanging around in HCMC is not going to be productive.

Yes, it is a crime. Add it to their list. I really feel for you and understand your situation. STL is right, just deal with it in a diplomatic way. They don't deal with emotion there at the Consulate. Hang in there, man.
mike1972e
After I called the consulate, the woman I spoke to called my fiancee to apologize to her. She also told her as soon as they get our file they will call her for her interview. I called NVC and they sent our file back to the consulate on Augist 10, so they should receive it any day. The problem is, how long will they take to confirm it is there and how long will they take to process it? She will call tomorrow and see if they received it.

Mike and Huong,

Stay strong and keep pressing onward! Bottom of the ninth, bases loaded!!!! Batter up!!! kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif This is too excited for most of the weaks, we VJ-ers aren't ones, this is NOT the major issue yet to come, the file will get there within days. Continue to stay focus in preparation for the D-Day which will come any moment now. Go over your stories with Huong, and over. Cross your T's and dot your I's.

We are holding our breath here for your good news.... Again, this is NOT yet the major problem, the file will get there.

Love,

Hi Mike,

Perhaps you've already made travel arrangements for your fiancee, but after thinking about this, I think it would be to her benefit to stay in HCMC, at least for a few more days to see what sorts out with receiving the file from NVC.

A quick search on the DHL website shows that a package was sent from NVC to HCMC on 8/10/2006. It was received in HCMC on 8/14/2006 and signed for by DUNG at 10:50am.

Did you buy a one-way ticket for her from Ha Noi to HCMC, and then will buy another one-way for her travel back to Ha Noi? If so, I think your cost-benefit would lean towards spending a few more $$ on hotel, rather than flying back to Ha Noi, just to turn around and shell out more $$ for another R/T to HCMC.

It is encouraging news to hear the Consulate personally called your fiancee and apologized. Perhaps they'll press your case and get to that DHL package quicker than normal (remain positive and optimistic). In any event, they realize and accept that they made a mistake.

Best of luck Mike!

Thanks, we figured the same. I tracked that same package yesterday. I called and gave her that information. She wants to wait a few days before calling them, because she doesn't want to irritate them. So she is going to sit tight and cross those I's and dot those T's. Crossing my fingers for that call tomorrow!!!
