Um...on the application and instructions it says nohing about biometrics...Is it a necessary thing for everyone? And when do they ask for it?
Thanks!

The biometrics are a part of the process on the way to the EAD. You will get a letter which shows where and when the applicant has to be for the biometrics.

Will it be close to where I live? And is there a fee?
thanks!

I assume you're going to file for AOS, the biometrics fee is paid when you file that ($70).

As to how close it is to you, it depends where you live. There are more ASCs than USCIS offices, so it may be closer than where you have your interview.

For me my biometrics was a 2 1/2 hour drive away, whereas the USCIS DO is 3 1/2 hours drive.

Oh, I'm not doing AOS, I'm waiting for my green card to be completed, so I'm just applying for EAD (using K-3), so maybe I won't have to do biometrics...hmmm

No, I think if you don't pay the biometrics fee for AOS, you will have to pay it for EAD.

That said I'm not familiar with the process of getting a greencard without AOS. Don't you have to file I-485 after arriving the in the USA with a K-3 to get the Green Card?
