We are at NVC now but will be going to Delhi. Any news from Delhi?
kpathak
We are also at NVC (just filed the DS-230) and hopefully will be in Delhi shortly. BTW, my spouse got a letter in the mail from an agency in Chennai asking her if she would like them to be her agent. Hey even had her phone number and case number. Where did they get this information I wonder.

Delhi -- from what I could glean from the embassy website and from VJ archives and resprted timelines, I think it is taking 2 months to get an interview date after the case gets to the consulate in Delhi. Ugh!!!

I am still a bit unclear about what forms my wife will be required to fill out, the "original passport leter", how much money to take (and in what format), where she will submit the documents prior to the interview etc.

Still much to read and research :-).

Folks,

I had sent my wife the I-864 AOS instead of the I-134 AOS (got confused between the CR-1 and K3). Anyway, I sent the New Delhi embassy an email asking if the I-864 could be accepted instead of the I-134 and the response I got back was a "yes".

Anyone else heard if this before? I mean, an AOS is an AOS, right?

We are working on a K1. I am white american and he is indian. We are going thru New Delhi and our case just arrived there today! I guess it will be a few weeks before he gets packet 3 and several weeks for an interview. I think the process is getting ahead of us all of a sudden. LOL We have a ton of papers to gather now. He still doesn't even have his passport in hand!
kpathak
Oh wow -- the process indeed got ahead of you :-). He needs to get down to the passport office and get his case expedited (there is a website where he can find out the status of his passport and it is accurate). It is not too many weeks -- it is about 6-8 weeks. It's boogie-time :-)

Awesome!!!!

my dear baby bunny... and kapathak and sudhir,

im sure u guys read my various posts on my husbands Immigration woes..
well he should be in the embassy right now.. i will know in about 6 hours... what our fate is..If God is smiling on us....

i even had him print out INA 212 also..

technically my husband has no wrong on his side.
just the fact that the USCIS messed up on his case while he was here.

so he went back to show his honesty instead of staying here, saying he was married to a USC and refiling a I-485. he waited it out in his home country leaving his wife and child in the US alone.

Please pray for us, we need all the help we can get

OK partner -- here are a few questions I would appreciate some clarification on. I can copy and past your responses on the forum if you don't mind.

1. How long was the wait after the embassy got the case and sent out the interview date (or the first piece of communication)?

2. What evidence of communication did they require (I only have phone logs and photographs)?

3. Were you or your finace able to ever call the embassy and speak to anyone successfully? I want to call them and am curious. Did you try emailing?

4. This deal about dropping off the originals at the VHS office, is this for real? Is it painful? Painless?

5. Did your finace pick up her stamped passport at the VHS office or did did she get it in the mail? If she picked it up, then who did she call to coordinate it? My wife lives in a remote area and mailing her passport is not a good idea.

Thanks man,

KP

Here you go Buddy: All the answers you asked for!

1: Five weeks.

2: We took Phone logs, Engagement Pics, signed letters stating that we are still in the relationship, copy of my passport showing the entry and exit stamp showing my last visit to India in February, 06, copy of boarding passes and the itenarary. That was it. Your stuff should be ok but the more, the better!!!

3: We never called anyone but, I emailed the Embassy and got prompt replies.

4: Yes, it is for real! Not just real, VERY IMPORTANT! Your wife has to deposit all the docs with the VFS office atleast two weeks before the interview date. It is very painless as long as you have all your ducks in a row! Failure to deposit the documents in time can result in a reschedule of the interview date.

5: My Fiance is still waiting for her passport. It is going to come by courier (Not mail). They always return the passport later through courier. Even if your wife lives in a remote area she should not have any problems because it is delivered via private courier and not through the shitty Indian postal system.

Hope this helps you.

Thanks,

Vishrit

Thanks,

Vishrit

Awesome -- thanks man.

my dear baby bunny... and kapathak and sudhir,

im sure u guys read my various posts on my husbands Immigration woes..
well he should be in the embassy right now.. i will know in about 6 hours... what our fate is..If God is smiling on us....

i even had him print out INA 212 also..

technically my husband has no wrong on his side.
just the fact that the USCIS messed up on his case while he was here.

so he went back to show his honesty instead of staying here, saying he was married to a USC and refiling a I-485. he waited it out in his home country leaving his wife and child in the US alone.

Please pray for us, we need all the help we can get

honey did you get 221g? or 212? these are 2 diffrent things...

221g. is temp denial admin review
212 is DENIED.
kpathak
Vishrit -- did your fiance get her passport back yet? How long is it taking for the passports to be sent over by courier?

Thanks,
KP

Okay we're getting ready for our interview and getting everything together...anyone know what is included on packet 3(Mumbai)? reason i ask is i want to send it early cause the mail system is terrible where she is. can someone exlpain about this whole VFS office? i ready about it online and wasn't sure if applicants of K-1 have to do that? if so do we send it or in person? and how much do we have to pay including everything and to whom?
kpathak
It seems that Mumbai embassy does not require it -- it wants you to bring the documents with you. Check out:

http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/k_visas.html#amc1

However, New Delhi embassy requires it. Point your browser to

http://newdelhi.usembassy.gov/k_visas.html

This has all the information on K-1. Don't send anything to the embassy until the correct time. Just to be on the sure side, you could probably call the mumbai embassy...

Good Luck,
KP

kpathak
Sudhir, hope you are kidding about postponing the interview. They sent my wife a packer 3 (three) with a DS230 Part I to send back (yes, for a K3 visa).

I don't know -- someone is screwed-up at the New Delhi consulate.

Any word from pharmacist? Was wondering what happened at the interview.
kpathak
Her hubby for her visa denied (well, I think it's in AR). Poor thing -- she posted a long thread in the K3 forum (something titled "I have already cried too much" or something to that effect).
